Chapter 1 - 1

Chapter 1:A New Beginning

Ethan, a handsome twenty-two-year-old with a mop of white hair, was amazing at juggling lots of things at once. He had five part-time jobs: making coffee, delivering food, tutoring a student, working the cash register at a convenience store, and stocking shelves at a bookstore on weekends.

Even though his life was super busy, Ethan had a big dream: to finish college and start his own tech company. He really believed that technology could make the world a better place – connecting people and solving problems. This dream kept him going, even when he was broke and his girlfriend dumped him for a rich guy.

One evening, after a long shift at the bookstore, Ethan sat on a park bench, his backpack heavy with textbooks, his mind racing with tomorrow's plans. He was lost in thought, sketching a design for a new app on a scrap of paper, when he noticed a young woman walking down the street. She was humming to herself, seemingly oblivious to the world around her, her head down, absorbed in her phone.

Ethan watched her, a familiar pang of loneliness hitting him. He knew that feeling of being so wrapped up in your own world that you don't notice anything else. Then, a flash of movement caught his eye. A car, speeding recklessly, veered sharply from the road. It was heading straight for the young woman, who was still completely unaware of the danger.

Time seemed to slow. Ethan's heart leaped into his throat. Without thinking, he sprang to his feet, his backpack falling to the ground. He yelled, his voice raw with urgency, but the distance was too great, the car too fast. He launched himself forward, adrenaline surging through him, a blur of motion. He reached the young woman just as the car was about to hit her, shoving her out of the way.

The impact of the car hitting him knocked the air from his lungs. He felt a searing pain in his side, but his first thought was for the young woman. Was she okay? He looked up, dazed, to see her staring at him, her eyes wide with shock and gratitude. The car screeched to a halt a few feet away, its driver frantically getting out. The world

Before Ethan could process anything, the young woman knelt beside him, her hands glowing with an otherwordly light. A warmth spread through his body, chasing away the pain. The throbbing in his side faded, replaced by a tingling sensation. He felt himself healing, stronger than before.

Then, as quickly as the warmth had appeared, it vanished. The young woman rose, her form shimmering and changing. Her hair flowed like liquid moonlight, her eyes glowed with an otherworldly light, and her body transformed into that of a magnificent fox, its fur the color of a twilight sky. The fox floated a few inches off the ground, its tail swishing gracefully.

"I am a celestial kitsune," the fox's voice echoed in Ethan's mind, clear and melodious. "You saved my life. As thanks, I grant you one wish."

Ethan stared, speechless. He'd just been hit by a car, healed by a glowing woman who'd turned into a floating fox, and now he had one wish? This was beyond anything he'd ever imagined. He needed a moment to think. His dreams, his desire to change the his world, flooded his mind. He carefully considered his options, weighing the potential impact of his wish. He knew he couldn't wish for something frivolous. This was a chance to make a real difference.

After a long pause, he spoke, his voice steady despite the surreal circumstances. "I wish for a secure login system interface that, upon each login, grants me one randomly selected, instantly mastered skill from a database of 100 pre-approved skills. Each skill must be demonstrably safe and physically achievable, with no negative side effects or unintended consequences."

Good choice but I'll make better, the mysterious kitsune spoked with a mysterious and somewhat calming tone.
