Chapter 8 - Chapitre 7

Lyris' Room - 12:30 AM

Lyris let out a sigh. The world seemed to be derailing before his eyes. He closed the computer, but the worry remained. Something was truly wrong.

"Stop," he thought again, lost between his worries, his suffering, and a growing desire for hatred, wanting to see the world collapse under the flames.

"Rose... Mom... am I going to lose them? The ones I love? I don't want to..." he whispered weakly, imagining the worst atrocities, the worst horrors. He thought of himself as condemned and suffering for life, whether in the world to come or the one before.

Lyris, filled with doubts, felt a knot forming in his stomach. This recurring thought of his older sister having to go to an endemic area, stricken by disease and maybe... Death? That sudden, brief thought, so violent yet painful...

He hit his skull and preferred not to think about it. What could he say? A poor high schooler like him? What could he do?

"Fuck... fuck... fuck..."

Lyris clutched his blanket to his chest, holding onto it as a substitute for affection to combat his many worries. He curled up helplessly against his mattress, letting out a deep sigh. He, who had always been suicidal, seemed, for once in his life, to feel fear for the future.

With difficulty, the young man finally managed to fall asleep.
