Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Eulalie Hicks

Chapter 24: Eulalie Hicks

Tom covered his nose, looking at the strange creature devouring its food in front of him with a look of disgust.

"Where did you find this thing?"

"This isn't a 'thing,' it's a house-elf. His name is Toby, and he's my most loyal servant," Theo said, adding a chicken leg to Toby's plate.

"What is it?" Tom looked at Theo, confused.

Tom, who had just entered the wizarding world, didn't know what a house-elf was.

Before Theo could speak, Toby jumped up, shouting somewhat hysterically.

"Ah! Great Master Theo! Kind Master Theo! How can you add food for Toby? Toby is so unworthy! Toby must punish himself!"

"Stop, I order you to obediently finish your food," Theo calmly commanded as Toby picked up Tom's new cauldron, ready to smash his head.

Toby had no choice but to put down the cauldron and sit back on the ground to continue eating. Only his tennis ball-sized eyes were filled with tears.

"Oh... Master Theo is the best and greatest master in the world!"

"So, what's going on? What exactly is a house-elf? Is he always this hysterical?" Tom asked, frowning.

Just now, Tom, who couldn't sleep, came to find Theo with his packed belongings, and saw Theo ordering Toby to eat as soon as he entered.

Tom, who had never seen a house-elf before, really didn't know what Theo had been up to in the few hours he was away...

Theo patted Tom's shoulder and said seriously, "Don't worry, even though your status has changed from my most loyal servant to my second most loyal servant, I will still treat you as well as before."

Tom's face instantly darkened, and the veins on his forehead bulged. He asked, word by word, "Who did you say is your servant?"

"Tom... you're not as respectful to me as you used to be. Now you know why you went from first servant to second servant, right?" Theo said with a look of regret.

"You f***ing..." Tom resisted the urge to fight, because he didn't want to get beaten up!

'Calm down... you can't beat him yet... calm down...'

Tom took several deep breaths, and his emotions finally calmed down.

"What's wrong? Are you hungry too?" Theo looked at the pot in his hand, then at Tom. "There's still some left, if you want..."

"No! I'm not hungry at all!" Tom's just calmed emotions almost exploded again.

"Okay, if you don't want it, forget it." Theo put the pot next to Toby and let him continue eating.

"So what exactly is a house-elf?" Tom asked persistently.

"House-elves are the most loyal servants of wizards. Their race also masters many interesting spells. Although they don't seem as powerful as wizards' magic, they are still very useful for handling household chores. By the way, I saw all this in a book in the bookstore today."

Then, Theo told Tom about his random wandering outside and finding a house-elf, selecting what he could say.

Anyway, if he always had a house-elf following him in the future, he wouldn't be able to hide it, so he might as well tell the truth.

"I don't think this dirty creature can be of any help," Tom looked at Toby with disgust.

"Don't underestimate any creature, Tom, or you will definitely suffer in the future," Theo said meaningfully.

At this time, Toby had eaten all the food on the plate and in the pot.

"Master Theo, Toby has never eaten so full..." Toby said, about to shed tears again.

"Okay, Toby, find a place to rest first, and remember to clean yourself up. I don't want to see you dirty again next time," Theo commanded again.

Toby sniffed and bowed respectfully. "As you wish, Master Theo."

"Pop!"

Toby disappeared on the spot, leaving only a sound like a whip hitting the ground...

This scene made Tom's eyes widen.

"See, at least you don't have to help me wash dishes in the future," Theo pointed to the plates and pots on the ground.

Only then did Tom realize that the plates and pots that had just been placed on the ground had become as clean as new at some point.

It had to be said that Toby was indeed an experienced house-elf, and his kitchen magic was superb.

Suddenly, Tom's eyes flickered and he said, "What's washing dishes? I can actually cook for you."

"Are you planning to poison me?" Theo was unmoved.

"Tsk... is it that obvious?"

...

In the blink of an eye, the sky turned slightly white, and it gradually brightened.

Theo sat on the bed, reading "The Count of Monte Cristo" with relish.

Tom, on the other hand, kept looking out the window.

"Did Dumbledore's people forget to pick us up? It's almost dawn," Tom said anxiously.

Theo suddenly closed the book and said, "Aren't they here?"

"Here? Where?" As soon as Tom finished asking, he heard the faint sound of horses neighing in the sky.

Tom quickly looked up at the sky.

The neighing got closer and closer. Suddenly, a carriage burst out of the gray clouds! However, in Tom's eyes, there were no horses in front of the carriage, only a middle-aged man acting as the coachman.

Theo also looked out the window, but in his vision, there were three pitch-black, winged, skinny horses pulling the carriage towards them.

Theo recognized them as three Thestrals. This was a magical creature that only those who had truly witnessed death could see.

Before he transmigrated, Theo had witnessed death, so he could see these Thestrals.

And Tom, who was new to the world and had a kd of 0/0, couldn't see the Thestrals yet.

"Bang!"

The carriage landed in front of the orphanage gate with a loud bang.

But the people in the orphanage and other residents on the street seemed to have heard nothing and remained quiet.

At this time, the carriage door suddenly opened, and a black-skinned witch with curly hair, holding a book in her hand, jumped out of the carriage.

She looked at the orphanage gate in front of her, then looked up at the window of Theo's room, meeting Theo and Tom's eyes.

The witch smiled, and then disappeared on the spot.

Tom stared wide-eyed out the window. "Where did she go?"

"Are you looking for me?" Suddenly, a woman's voice came from behind them.

Tom was startled and turned around quickly.

Theo turned around and saw that the witch had come behind them at some point.

Tom looked at her in shock. "You... who are you? How did you get in?"

One second she was outside, the next second she was behind them on the second floor. It was a bit scary to think about.

"Hello, I'm Eulalie Hicks. You can call me Professor Hicks." The witch smiled and held out her hand to Theo and Tom.

Tom looked at Hicks warily, not moving.

Theo also held out his hand and shook hers. "Professor Hicks, are you the one Professor Dumbledore sent to pick us up?"

(Eulalie Hicks is a character in the movie "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them." She is a Charms professor at Ilvermorny. She was one of the earliest members of Dumbledore's Army. In addition, I also plan to follow the setting in the movie and let the young Professor McGonagall appear... although according to the original timeline, Professor McGonagall was only three or four years old at this time...)
