Chapter 23 - REXAN: CHAPTER 23

Rexan stood frozen, her breath quick and shallow as the chaos of the rave spiraled into something unholy.

Screams of humans echoed against the bass that still pulsed weakly from shattered speakers.

Then she saw him.

A colossal figure emerged from the swarm of creatures, his distorted features exaggerated in the flickering lights.

His skin was ashen and stretched taut over his frame, his eyes milky but glowing faintly with recognition.

The zombie was huge, towering over her with an unnatural bulk that seemed to defy anatomy.

His movements were heavy, deliberate, the floor trembling beneath his weight.

Rexan looked up at him, her confusion mingling with the strange pull in her chest.

The giant creature dropped to one knee before her, lowering its grotesque head like a knight swearing fealty.

It wasn't alone.

In perfect synchronicity, the rest of the creatures followed.

Some crawled on all fours, their twisted bodies scraping against broken glass and splintered wood, while others stood tall but hunched, heads bowed low.

Their hands rested on the ground as they circled her protectively, a macabre court of the damned.

The humans who hadn't managed to flee stared in paralyzed horror.

Some whimpered, others fell to their knees, and a few simply collapsed, their minds unable to comprehend the scene before them.

But Rexan?

She felt it.

Power.

Raw, unfiltered, and intoxicating power coursed through her veins.

The creatures, her zombies roared. It wasn't the hollow moan of a movie zombie or the mindless groan of the undead.

This was something deeper, primal, a sound that vibrated through the earth and sky, shaking the very ground beneath their feet.

"Lead us to war, my queen!" one of them howled.

The others echoed in unison, their shrieks piercing through the night. "RAAAAA!"

The air trembled with their cries, the sound so deafening it drowned out the remaining human screams.

Rexan took a step forward, her heels clicking against the blood-slick floor, and the creatures parted for her like loyal subjects making way for their sovereign.

She walked with newfound purpose, her shimmering outfit now smeared with gore and glowing under the fractured lights.

Her heart pounded, her senses sharper than ever before. The rage boiling within her felt ancient, endless.

She stopped, turning her gaze to the humans still frozen in terror. They were insignificant now, mere prey.

"ATTACK!!!"

Her voice rang out like a war cry, slicing through the chaos as she leapt high into the air.

Time seemed to slow as she soared, her golden hair trailing behind her like a banner of destruction.

Her boots landed with a sickening crunch on the shoulder of a running man. He screamed, stumbling under her weight, but she was faster.

Her fingers plunged into his scalp, tearing through flesh and bone with an ease that should have horrified her but didn't.

She pulled his brain free in one fluid motion, its slick surface pulsing faintly in her bloodied hands.

For a moment, she paused to marvel at it, her lips curling into a wicked smile.

Then, driven by insatiable hunger, she sank her teeth into the organ, the taste rich and electric on her tongue.

Behind her, the creatures surged forward, a tidal wave of horror descending upon the remaining humans.

Blood sprayed, limbs were torn, and the air filled with the wet, visceral sounds of carnage.

Rexan licked her lips, her rage burning hotter.

Tonight, she wasn't just a queen.

She was a goddess of destruction.

And humanity?

They were her feast.
