Albert hid behind a barrel. His heart racing.
His mana was all but gone. He kept as much of it as he could afford without dropping the barrier. If his mana ran out, his heart would fail. If the barrier fell, then Marek was going to punch a hole right through his chest.
"Albert!" Marek yelled as he hurled another fireball at the barrier. The barrel exploded!
Albert, on fire and cursing, finally stepped out of the barrier. He wasn't ready to let Marek dictate this! He could fight, darn it!
With no mana, he had only one choice.
The healer looked at the village's ruins around him. On the ground, there was a pitchfork. Next to it was something that might have been a mullet for steaks once, but was now charred and covered in blood.
The healer felt like throwing up. Marek had boxed him in the village's butchering site!
Where the orc children had been killed, so that they were as if they were animals!
