Chapter 1 - Chapter 1-2-3

Chapter 1: Dana's Call

The FBI's New York field office was abuzz. The operations room, normally buzzing with a steady stream of information, was now filled with tension. SAC Dana Mosley, a seasoned and strategic leader, was scanning the reports with a sharp gaze. Her expression indicated that the situation was more serious than any other recent case.

"This isn't just another run-of-the-mill case, folks," Dana began, her firm voice cutting through the chatter of the agents. "We're dealing with something big. The kind of problem that can escalate quickly if we don't handle it with precision."

Maggie Bell and Omar Adom "OA" Zidan, two of the team's top agents, stood beside Dana. They both knew that SAC didn't overreact. Jubal Valentine, the ASAC responsible for coordinating field operations, arrived quickly with the latest files in hand.

"Okay, Dana, what do we have?" Jubal asked, handing over a bulging folder.

"A weapons trafficking ring with possible connections to international terrorist groups," Dana replied, scanning the documents. "We have some leads, but none solid enough to act on. We need an expert, someone who has dealt with situations like this on multiple levels."

Maggie leaned forward, interested. "Do you have anyone in mind?"

Dana took a deep breath, and for a moment her eyes seemed to search for the right words. "Yes, I do. Someone who has seen and dealt with the worst. A problem solver. Grant Shawn."

The mention of the name made OA raise an eyebrow. "Grant Shawn? I've heard of him."

Maggie looked curious. "Who hasn't? He's practically a legend in the FBI. I met Shawn briefly at Quantico, during my training at the academy. He had just given a lecture to our class. The guy exuded authority. He's one of those people you feel can solve anything."

"He's more than that," Jubal added, pulling up a file on the computer. "Let me put this in perspective."

Kristen Chazal, the team's intelligence and technology specialist, quickly pulled up Grant Shawn's file on the FBI system and projected it onto the room's central screen.

"From 1997 to 2011, he was an operator for DEVGRU, the famous SEAL Team Six," Kristen began, as the team absorbed the information. "High-risk missions, multiple awards. In 2012, he joined the FBI's Hostage Rescue Unit, and stayed until 2015. Since then, he's worked counterterrorism for the FBI, often taking on extremely sensitive cases."

"Plus," Kristen continued, "rumor has it that he has connections in very high places. Politicians, military, even international leaders. He's known as the agency's 'troubleshooter.'"

"Impressive," Maggie commented, crossing her arms. "But is he still active? I haven't seen him around in a while."

"He is," Dana assured, leaning across the table. "Grant is... well, he's a low-key guy. But when things get really tough, he's the first name that comes to mind. And I think he's exactly what we need right now."

OA, who had been silent until then, finally spoke up. "I've never worked with him, but his reputation speaks for itself. I've had guys in the Special Forces who talked about Shawn like he was a legend. If he's all that, I want to see him in action."

Jubal looked at Dana with a slight smile. "So what are we waiting for? Call him."

Dana picked up her cell phone and hesitated for a moment. She knew that by contacting Grant Shawn, she was asking for more than just help. She was asking for a commitment from someone who only showed up in exceptional cases.

"It's not that simple," Dana said as she typed the message. "Grant isn't someone you just call. He chooses whether or not to answer."

Kristen leaned forward in her chair, curious. "And what are you going to say?"

Dana stopped typing for a moment and looked around the room. "The truth. That we need him. That it's urgent. And that without him, this case could turn into something we can't control."

She finished the message and hit send. For a moment, silence filled the room.

"Good," OA said, breaking the silence. "Now we just have to wait and see if the legend responds."

"In the meantime," Dana continued, turning her attention to the team, "we're not going to stand still. Kristen, keep analyzing the data we have. Maggie, OA, you guys go to the last sighting of this network and see if you can find anything."

Everyone nodded and began to move. However, the presence of Grant Shawn's name lingered in the room like a promise. They knew that if he answered, the game would change completely.

Dana watched the team disperse before looking back at her phone, anxiously waiting for the answer.

Chapter 2: Grant Shawn Arrives

The atmosphere in the FBI's New York office was electric. In the operations room, Dana Mosley and her team were huddled in front of screens, analyzing the latest information on the arms trafficking ring. Maps, communication logs, and surveillance footage flashed on the screens as Kristen detailed her findings.

"These connections suggest that the group is trying to move the arsenal out of the state," Kristen said, pointing to a specific point on the map. "If we don't stop them here, we'll lose track."

"I agree," OA replied as she reviewed the security camera footage. "But these guys are careful. They use code names and routes that change constantly."

"That's not enough," Jubal said. "We need to predict their next move. We can't just react, we have to anticipate."

Dana, always calm and focused, kept her gaze fixed on the central screen. "That's exactly why Grant Shawn is here. If anyone can help us decipher these patterns and predict the next move, it's him."

Before anything else could be said, a steady footstep echoed down the hallway. The sound caught everyone's attention. Turning, Dana saw Grant Shawn coming through the door.

Grant was everything his reputation promised. At forty-three, he was tall, with an athletic physique that exuded discipline and preparation. His face was lined with years of experience, but his blue eyes shone with intelligence and determination. He was dressed casually, but he still looked impeccable.

A smile played on his lips as he entered. "Dana Mosley," he said, his voice low and firm. "She's still as beautiful as ever."

Dana smiled, but replied playfully, "Isobel wouldn't like to hear that, Grant."

Grant laughed, shaking his head. "Probably not. She's better with a gun than I am."

Isobel Castille, Grant's longtime girlfriend and the Fugitive Task Force's ASAC, was known for her precision in both her work and relationships.

Grant turned to the others. "Jubal Valentine," he said, shaking the ASAC's hand firmly, "it's good to see you again. How many years has it been, again? Five? Seven?"

"About that," Jubal replied with a smile. "You're still the same, Shawn."

"Not really, but thanks." Grant then turned to Maggie and inclined his head slightly. "Bell. I remember you from the academy at Quantico. I gave a talk to your class, didn't I?"

"Yes, I did," Maggie replied, smiling. "And I can tell you it made an impression. We've all been talking about your story for weeks."

"I'm glad to hear I made a positive impact." He then turned to OA. "Zidan. I've heard a lot about you. Your Army buddies really admire you. And from what I've seen in the reports, rightly so."

OA shook his hand. "The honor is mine, Shawn. I've always wanted to see you in action."

Finally, Grant looked at Kristen and smiled. "Kristen Chazal. You're one of the best analysts in the agency. I've heard your intuition is rarely wrong."

Kristen was slightly surprised, but she thanked him with a shy smile.

"Thanks. It's good to know that reputation precedes me."

Grant turned his attention to Dana. "So, where do we start?"

Dana wasted no time in detailing the case. "Grant, we need to analyze these guys' behavior. Their movements are unpredictable, but we know there's a pattern behind it. We just haven't been able to figure it out yet."

"Perfect. Let's work on it together," Grant replied. "Remember, Dana, my psychology degree and that BAU profiler course still come in handy from time to time."

Dana smiled, knowing Grant was being modest. "Good, because we're going to need all of that now."

They got to work immediately. Grant and Dana led the behavioral analysis, while Jubal, Maggie, OA, and Kristen contributed valuable data and insights. Grant excelled at connecting seemingly unrelated details.

"Look at this," Grant said, pointing to a series of communication logs. "They use seemingly random keywords, but if you correlate the dates and times, there's a temporal pattern here. It's like a code."

Kristen quickly cross-referenced the information in the system. "You're right. This indicates they're planning another move in less than 48 hours."

"So we know where they're going to be," OA said, pointing to the map. "We need teams there immediately."

With the information in hand, the team moved quickly. Maggie and OA led the field operation, while Dana and Grant coordinated the strategy. Jubal and Kristen ensured that communications remained uninterrupted and that everyone had access to real-time information.

The operation was a success. Part of the group was arrested and the rest were eliminated in armed confrontations. The arsenal of weapons was recovered, avoiding a possible tragedy.

Back at the office, while the team celebrated discreetly, Dana approached Grant. "I knew calling you was the right decision. Thank you, Grant. Really."

Grant smiled, a tired, satisfied gleam in his eyes. "You know you can count on me, Dana. Whenever you need me, you have my number."

They shook hands, but there was a deeper understanding between them. Grant Shawn wasn't just a legend; he was the person everyone wanted by their side when everything was at stake.

Chapter 3: Remembering Grant Shawn

The OR was quieter now. The case had been successfully closed, and the team could finally breathe a little. Despite the weariness on their faces, the mood was light. Maggie, OA, Kristen, Jubal, and Dana were gathered around one of the tables, reviewing the final reports.

"So," Maggie began, leaning forward with a curious smile, "let's talk about the elephant in the room: Grant Shawn. He's exactly what everyone says he is."

"More so," OA replied, crossing her arms. "That presence of his… It's like the guy already has the answer before you even finish your question."

"Not to mention the charm," Kristen added, smiling. "When he walked in, he looked like he was in a commercial for expensive suits."

Jubal laughed, shaking his head. "You're all impressed now, but that's what he does. Grant has an almost supernatural ability to make you believe that everything will work out, even in the most stressful situations."

Dana, who had been listening in silence until then, smiled. "Grant has always been like that. Ever since the day I met him."

"You've known him a long time, haven't you?" Maggie asked.

"Yes," Dana said, leaning back in her chair. Her eyes sparkled with a mixture of nostalgia and amusement. "I met Grant when he was still at DEVGRU. He came to Quantico to train the HRT. At the time, I was working on psychological profiles for the special operations teams."

"So you worked together?" OA asked.

"In a way," Dana said. "Grant always had this ability to connect people, and he ended up talking to everyone. That's how he ended up talking to me and Isobel."

Kristen leaned forward, interested. "Isobel? You mean... Isobel Castille? His current girlfriend?"

"Exactly," Dana replied, smirking. "Back then, they weren't together yet. In fact, before Isobel and Grant got involved, he was... how can I put this? Quite sociable."

"Really?" Maggie asked, laughing.

Dana laughed along. "Really. He had a way with the gab and charm that were almost weapons in themselves. He stared at every woman in the room like she was impossible to resist. And to be fair, most of them couldn't."

"Are you saying he was a ladies' man?" Jubal asked, trying to stifle his laughter.

"I'd say he knew exactly how to use his charisma to his advantage," Dana replied. "And that included winning hearts wherever he went. But when he and Isobel started getting close, it was different. He changed completely."

"What do you mean?" OA asked.

"Well, the truth is, with Isobel, Grant found someone who challenged him," Dana explained. "She wasn't one of those people he could charm with a wink and a smile. She saw right through him, and he respected that. In the end, I think that's what got him."

"That makes sense," Kristen said. "Isobel has this strong, direct personality. I imagine it came as a shock to him."

Dana nodded. "It did. And ever since then, the two of them have been inseparable. It's funny to think that it all started with a casual conversation in Quantico."

"So he was your typical 'player' before Isobel?" Maggie asked, still laughing.

"Let's just say he took advantage of opportunities," Dana replied, smiling. "But he was always respectful. He never crossed any lines. He just…knew how to make people feel special."

"That explains a lot," OA said. "When he walked in here, the whole room went silent. It's like he has this natural commanding power."

"That's why he's so effective," Dana replied. "It's not just his training or his experience. It's the way he connects with people, the way he makes you believe he knows exactly what he's doing."

"He does," Jubal said. "Grant doesn't make promises he can't keep. And that's rare."

The group was silent for a moment, reflecting on Grant Shawn's impact. He was more than a legend or a problem-solver. He was an example of leadership, charisma, and determination.

"Well, I hope the next time he shows up it'll be under less tense circumstances," Kristen said.

"Don't count on it," Dana replied with a smile. "Grant doesn't show up unless he absolutely has to. But if we do, we know he'll be there."

"That's true," Maggie said. "And as impressive as he is, I'm glad to work with the team we have here. We've handled what we've had very well."

Dana looked at her team with pride. "You guys are exceptional. And that's why even when someone like Grant comes into the picture, he knows he's dealing with top-notch professionals. Never forget that."

The group smiled, and the conversation turned to lighter topics. However, everyone knew that Grant Shawn had left a mark, not just on the case, but on each and every one of them.
