" Wake up?".
It was a voice coming from the speaker waking Theo from his deep slumber. He's been tired lately. The pain he feels from regeneration is less but just as tiring.
Theo gets up, a massive body rising from the white sheets. Blue eyes blinking rapidly trying to wake up as quickly as he can.
' That's right some one called '
He looks up at sees Captwin Guile.
Immediately he gets up from his bed and jumps to the glass holding on to it with just his fingers like a reptile
" Sir?", Theo says in an excited tone, expecting to hear some good news.
Guiles eyes are sadder than usual. He's tired but not mad. He'd just lost a friend in the most brutal way possible but one thing Guile was good at, was ignoring his feelings.
He'd just pack em all up, shove them down his gut, lock em and throw away the key.
" Well you seem energetic?"
Theo let out a bitter smile
" Well sir you're all I have ".
Guile smiled knowing full well he really was Theo's only chance at survival.
" Your lawyers about to be here ".
Theo did not understand what he said.
" What lawyer?", he asked still clinging on to the glass.
" The one I paid for, the one who'll defend you ".
Theo was happy. Genuinely happy, a bit confused by overall happy.
He was happy at the fact that the Captain kept helping him but confused as to why.
All he was supposed to do was carry out he test and leave Theo to whatever fate threw at him.
" Thank you sir ".
Guile kept his eyes fixated on Theo. He looks like the thing that killed Ghazul. The same abnormally beautiful face, a cross between a boy and a man.
" Sigh ".
Guile dropped his hands in his pocket and walks away. " Don't mention it ".
Theo watched as the Captain left the analysis room.
" Could you get down ", one of the scientists asked politely.
Theo turned to him quickly. The scientist heart skipped a beat. Even if Theo wasnt aggressive or hostile, his appearance was deeply terrifying especially when he didn't smile.
" Sure ".
Theo let go and landed down on the white concrete his feet causing deep marks on the floor but just like the wall, the building repaired itself.
Then a shaft opened. As if the wall suddenly turned came open. Who knew there was a door there.
A woman in a lab coat came out escorted by a large defense robot.
Her hair was in a pixie cut and she was wearing large dark glasses. She had a cute face.
She was holding a circular object. It looked heavy and had glowing blue lights blinking from its surface.
" It's for precaution ", she said as she approached the hulking fiend in front of her and handed it to him.
Human Fiends are Friends that bear almost an exact resemblance to a human. Usually the more human like a Fiend is in appearance the higher their rank.
The only difference beingan exaggerated feature. The first is usually they are much taller, have hair that touches the floor. Then the one thing they all have in common:
They are much more beautiful. Beauty beyond anything a human could achieve.
And Theo was just like that. His face, his smell.
The scientist couldn't help but drool looking at him.
" Ma'am ".
" Oh sowwy I mean sorry. Here_
She was the same scientist that would testify, witnessing the fact that he passed the Fiend/Human test.
She handed him the device. His hands were so large. He looked at her clearly waiting for more clarification.
" Put it on the back of your neck ".
Reluctantly he placed the circle shaped device at his nape.
It grew and separated. It surrounded his neck, cuffing his arms and ankles perfectly--He instantly felt it cripple his Archaic Energy.
He was being treated like an animal.
He glared at the woman waiting for her to take him.
She saw all the pain in his stare. His blue eyes surrounded by darker skin, his eyelashes long and curled down
" I'm sorry ". It was the least she could say.
He ignored her and looked down.
She took in a deep breath feeling bad for him. For a fiend. She turned and walked him down a hall.
The hall was white just like his room or prison. He preferred to see it as a room.
Then they got in an elevator. A big one. It was steel plated and didn't look like it was simply for going to other floors.
This is probably how they moved classified studies through out the giant building.
There were many robots around, watching him just to see if he moved to quick.
The whole thing made him feel numb.
The elevator took them to a new floor. It was a slow ride and a cracking sound could be heard. His large body turned the elevator dark.
The dim lights snuffed by his consuming frame.
While Karla ( the four eyed scientist ) was scared and in awe at the same time.
The elevator stopped abruptly. The wide silver doors opened up slowly.
It was a floor. Completely different from all the other parts of the building he saw.
No technology, no analytical or dissecting devices, no megaloohobic liminal spaces.
It seemed like a regular hotel suit.
" This is where the regular people stay ". Theo said in such a gentle voice. Hearing him speak made her want to get on her knees and apologize to him.
" Yes ", she whispered staring hard at him.
The silence was awkward for Theo. He had to break it.
" The lawyer?"
" What lawyer?", she said still staring. Seeing him up close was so satisfying.
Theo looked down to her eyes, thinking she was joking.
" Oh right. Sorry. The lawyer is in...Shes in the third room ".she said pointing towards a room with a beautiful old style wooden door.
Carved with perfection.
He exhaled and the Robots urged him to move. Two large heavy plated machines each at least 2 metres holding guns he didn't even want to imagine being used.
He walked slowly towards the room.
The robots stopped when they got close to the door.
' proceed '.
One of them said in it's pixelated voice. Like a recording.
He took in a deep breath and opened the door. Turning his side so he could fit, bending and twisting his 5 metre tall body just so he could fit into the door. His eyes instantly widened when he saw the lawyer.
---A few minutes earlier---
" Good you're here", Guile says as he turns to a stunning blonde woman in a suit holding a brown brief case.
" Is he ready?", She says gently staring at Guile, as if trying to find something.
" He'll be soon ". Guile drops a lollipop in his mouth.
" He's shaken up a bit. Try to be gentle ".
She frowned. Cara's thick eyebrows feeling slightly insulted.
" I think I know how to do my job ", she said in a serious tone.
For the first time Guile looks at her. He looks tired. His purple eyes look dry.
" Well with the amount of money you're getting you better know what you're doing", he said in sarcasm.
She couldn't help but laugh.
" You're such a cheap steak, I let you pay half the price ".
He and Cara went way back. He shrugs and breaks his lollipops.
" Should have been free ". He says trying to hide his smile under his mustache but his deep dimples betray it.
Cara knows he's trying his best. Guile just lost a friend to an Abyss Fiend. The fact that he's here trying to help this Theodore guy, still trying to be himself. 'Heroes don't get to cry', it's probably what he'll say.
She needed to ask him
" Hey How_ she stops herself but tries to go on.
" What?"
" How are you holding up?" Cara was hesitant to ask but she had to.
" I'm fine Cara ", He says looking away not wanting the conversation to last a second longer.
" You can talk about it if you wa_
" I said I'm fine!", his voice raises. Guile rarely ever shouted but when he did, it always scared the shit out of her.
She gulped in preparation. She wasn't going to let him feel pain alone. He had to talk about it.
" Don't do this Guile ".
He still didn't look at her.
" Don't push everyone away and suffer alone. Just talk about it and it'll feel better. Pushing it down is not healthy. I knew Ghazul too. It was a big loss for the whole world ".
Guile can't look at her, shocked at his own reaction. He infuses his sweet with his Archaic energy making it float slowly through space and watches it.
He looks down letting out a shivering breath.
" Heroes don't get to cry Cara ".
He walks away from her, hands in pocket. The floating sweet fly's towards her.
" Besides. That kid needs your help now than I do ".
" Bye ".
He stops walking still not looking back.
" Bye ".
Then he flies off, the force causing the ground to shake a little
Cara takes in a deep breath.
" He'll never change ". She says in a smirk. And he was right. He trusted her to defend Theodore. The person no lawyer wanted to go near--it would kill their their career.
To defend a Fiend. It would take a Crazy lawyer or one who wanted to go out with a bang to take up this trial.
But
Cara was aware of her own insanity. She was as crazy as they came.
" Huuuh ", she exhaled a deep breath, composing herself before walking in.
When she showed her papers to the scanner she was led in to the closest elevator by a robot. A butler looking robot.
Technology was moving so fast.
" Please stay in the waiting room madam. Your client will be with you in short while. We ask you maintain a distance of at least two metres from him and know that your safety is not jeoprodized ".
She nodded signifying her readiness.
When the elevator stopped they reached an elegant floor.
Opulent chandeliers glimmered on the high ceilings. A beautiful black rug separated the hall and each door designed and carved in a way that made you see all the work put in to them. They doors were all different, each more beautiful than the last.
The walls were a beautiful cream as it they had just been painted yesterday and on them were old masters paintings and sculptures that made this place seem like a palace.
She gripped her brief case and followed the butler robot to one of the rooms.
It was large and had a beautiful painting of a green river on the walls. When Cara looked closer, she noticed the numbers on it. It was a clock and it was ticking loudly.
The Robot made sure to repeat it's warnings before leaving.
The room was quiet. Cara was left with her thoughts and the tik tak of the loud clock.
With each click it made her shiver, with each passing second she remembered the severity of her situation.
She was defending a Fiend who murdered 5 people and hospitalised a sentinel.
" What the fuck was she thinking?"
She tries to stay calm reminding herself that she's already in this. She grabs her bag and slides her hand into it, past her wallet, past her phone and grabbing the yellow prescription bottle. It rattled on contact, it still had a few pills inside.
She pulled it out, already feeling the rush before even taking it.The worn out label hanging on the child proof cap. With ease she pulled it open, turned it over and shook till two orange oval tablets fell on her soft palms.
" Take one a day ".
Hah, it was laughable. She doesn't even remember what it was like to take less than two
She shakes the pills again and one more falls on to her palms as she assured her self she needed to be sharp. If she wins this case it would do things for her already respectable career, things she couldn't even imagine.
In a swift motion she dropped the three Adderall tablets down her throat and swallowed it dry.
Ahhh, she felt it kick in. Her thoughts coming to a straight line, time moving faster yet slower at the same time, the light tingle on her skin.
At this point this was all muscle memory. She exhaled in readiness. Now she was more calm and ready for anything.
That's when she heard large heavy footsteps.
Then she saw the shadow looming over the door.
Something big was on the other side.
She looked down and could see brown strands of hair extending through the threshold of the door.
The door opened gently. Cara quickly realised her stimulants were still on the table. She moves quickly and puts them back in her bag before Theo could open the whole thing.
Before her was a Fiend. No doubt about it.
A human Fiend. A very very beautiful one. His face was stressed as he tried to force himself through the small crevice that was the door.
His hair was so long. It was a light brown colour with a wavy thick texture. His eyes were so blue they were practically glowing and his skin slightly pale.
His eye lashes were long and his eyebrows were almost as thick as hers, and she hadbreally really thick brows.
He was wearing a large white gown which stopped just above his ankle. It looked more like a sleeping gown than anything else.
When he finally escaped the door he looked to Cara. Shocked, he expected the lawyer to be a man. Even if it was a woman why did it have to be such a young one.
Cara was scared. She'd always been fearless but she was still human. This was the first time she was seeing a Titan Fiend up close. And that smell. It smelt like grass in a sunny rain.
Was he really ever human?
Theos eyes wandered around the room looking for a place to sit. The Lawyer hadn't said anything. Maybe she was waiting for him to sit down.
Left with no option, Theo moved his hair away from the floor. Lifted his gown slightly and sat on the floor crossing his legs on eachother.
Theo couldn't stop himself from staring. Her face was so captivating. Her eyebrows were the first thing he noticed, they were low set and the thickest he'd ever seen and yet they were perfectly trimmed.
Her eyes were large but slightly up turned. She had beautiful green eyes and her skin was just the right amount of sun kissed.
Her lips were a sensual pink and stood twitching above her wide chin. Her cheekbones were sculpted and her jawline strong, like the type you see on models in the magazines he read.
Was this really a lawyer.
Her beautiful dirty blonde hair was left to fall atop her unbuttoned blazer. Under the blazer ,she was wearing such a nice silk blouse that stuck to her skin in an almost sinful way.
He could easily imagine what lied beneath. She was beautiful everywhere he looked.
And he looked everywhere l.
Staring at her made him realise he wasn't wearing anything beneath his white gown.
' Oh No '
A sharp thought pierced his subconscious
' Stop ogling before you get caught '.
He looked back down at his feet. ' That was close '.
Cara composed her self and let out a small cough.
" Emm...I.... ".
She was failing. She couldn't think right looking at him. The fear and allure were a potent combination for her.
Who knew her first challenge in this case would be her client being irresistibly attractive or maybe it was his ridiculously terrifying countenance.
" I'm Cara Bell. I'm your lawyer ".
Theo gulped. Her voice had a raspy touch to it, like a soft underlying cough. He was guessing she was British but lived In America for too long.
Wait a minute. She's British.
London. He destroyed London
Theo remembers the whole clip that Guile played for him and then Theo's face turned deeply sad.
A person like her could've been among those five.
He still hadn't said anything. Cara saw how sad and disturbed Theo looked. It some how put her at ease.
" Relax Theo, I'm here to help you as long as you're willing to be cooperative ".
There it was again. Each time she spoke he felt his entire body shiver. He looked straight towards her green eyes.
She looked like she could really help him.
He could trust her though it's not like he really had a choice.
" I understand ", he said calmly
Cara noticed how stressed his voice sounded. Eerily enough his voice contrasted with his giant body. It was a lot less intimidating.
" Well then ", Cara said in an optimistic smile. " Let's get down to it ".
Guile looked on at her smile, biting his lower lip taking every second of watching lips move.
Dear god.
