Chapter 41 - chapter forty one

Camila's Point of View

The wind howled outside the log cabin like it sensed what was coming. The fire crackled weakly, casting golden light across the wooden walls. I was seated cross-legged on the thick rug, surrounded by old books, scrolls, and maps Maeron had given me.

My head was pounding from all the information. Symbols. Bloodlines. A lineage of power the Council had tried to erase.

And now… they were coming.

Nathaniel stood near the window, arms folded, his jaw tight. He hadn't spoken much since Maeron left us earlier that day, saying only that he had to "warn an old friend."

I glanced at Nathaniel. "You've been pacing for an hour. Just say what's on your mind."

His eyes flicked toward me, then away. "We need to move again. The Council won't stop now that you've awakened your aura."

I nodded, but something about the way he said it made my stomach twist. "You're not telling me something."

He turned sharply. "Camila, now isn't the time—"

"Tell me the truth, Nathaniel."
