Chapter 84 - A Buyer’s Dignity

Although he was deeply dissatisfied in his heart, Yang Mo did not waste time dwelling on the matter.

Even without a salesperson approaching him, Yang Mo still walked straight to the property display board with a leaflet in hand. He carefully examined the information, his sharp gaze comparing the flyer's contents with the narrowed-down properties he had already researched.

The building was well-designed, with a sleek modern exterior and a thoughtfully laid-out floor plan. The environment was peaceful, clean, and well-maintained, with an impressive amount of green space woven between the buildings. Public facilities were naturally top-notch, as expected of a high-end development. The location was prime—surrounded by kindergartens, schools, and supermarkets, it ticked almost every box.

Yang Mo's expression turned serious as he focused deeply on his thoughts.

Faced with two similar apartment types, he found himself hesitating. Both had the same layout and access to sunlight, but there was a notable difference in the square footage of the bedrooms—and an even larger discrepancy in price.

He frowned slightly and turned his head.

"Are there any salespeople around?" he asked aloud, his voice calm yet purposeful.

The few sales staff nearby, who had been quietly gossiping and exchanging glances, all froze. They looked at each other awkwardly, seemingly reluctant to move.

The male salesman who had first mocked him earlier frowned, clearly annoyed.

"You're just casually coming over for a look, not really intending to buy anything, right? And now you're even expecting someone to assist you? How much face do you think you have?"

Just as the words left his mouth, a middle-aged couple walked into the sales office. The male salesman immediately perked up and stepped forward to greet them, his tone suddenly pleasant and professional.

"If you want to view the units, just follow the floor plan on the board and compare them to the leaflet. We're quite busy today and don't have the time to accommodate everyone personally."

Yang Mo's frown deepened.

"I've already looked over the property. The layout and surroundings are fine. I just need someone to walk me through the details so I can understand it better," he said evenly.

The salesman barely turned to acknowledge him, his tone perfunctory and dismissive. "Isn't it all clearly written on the flyer? Just read it properly."

Yang Mo's patience began to fray.

He had spoken politely, without any trace of arrogance. Yet the man's attitude was condescending and full of disdain—clearly aimed at him personally. Why would such a large, high-end real estate office hire someone so unqualified, so utterly unprofessional?

Yang Mo glanced back at the display, then back at the group of salespeople, his voice rising slightly, no longer masking his frustration.

"I've read the flyer. But the differences between these two units aren't clearly laid out. The size discrepancy in the bedrooms and the price jump—those things need explanation."

Seeing Yang Mo pressing the issue, the young male salesman sneered and waved him off impatiently. "Then just take more time to figure it out yourself. We have many serious buyers today. We only assist clients who can actually afford to buy."

A wave of coldness passed through Yang Mo's eyes.

"What do you mean by that?" he asked icily. "How do you know I didn't come here to buy?"

The salesman raised an eyebrow mockingly. "Well, you should know your own situation, shouldn't you? This is a premium property, located in Qing Bay—a school district neighborhood. Not low-cost housing. If you're looking for bargain deals, you're in the wrong place. I suggest you don't waste our time or yours."

Until this point, Yang Mo had endured the man's arrogance without letting it get to him. But now, the salesman's blatant disrespect and prejudice left him seething. It was one thing to privately assess a customer's purchasing power—but to verbalize that judgment with such contempt was beyond unprofessional.

This was a real estate office. He had come here with the intention to buy. Was it not natural to ask for a property consultation?

Before the salesman could open his mouth again, he noticed the manager walking past nearby. His expression shifted instantly. He scoffed, then turned away dramatically, pretending to be too busy to deal with Yang Mo any longer.

Just then, a young woman with a ponytail approached. Her demeanor was bright, and her tone respectful.

"Hello, sir. May I ask which apartment type you're interested in? I'd be happy to explain the details to you."

For a moment, it seemed the situation had been defused.

But before she could finish speaking, the same arrogant young salesman leaned in again with a mocking grin.

"If you can't afford it, you can't afford it. Why put on a show? Even if you really wanted to buy a place here, I doubt you'd make that kind of money in your entire life. And yet you still pretend to be some rich guy asking for property prices? You really have no shame."

His voice wasn't loud, but it was clear enough to pierce Yang Mo's ears like a knife.

Yang Mo turned slowly, his gaze steely and voice calm, yet chilling.

"What does whether I can afford it or not have to do with you? Does every visitor here have to go through your private financial audit before asking questions?"

The male salesman's smirk froze. His lips parted, but no words came out.

For once, he had no clever retort.
