Chapter 26: After School Plans
After the grueling Quirk Apprehension Test, the students of Class 1-A dragged themselves back into the classroom. Some were still groaning about the whole "expulsion" scare, while others simply flopped into their chairs, relieved that the day's physical trials were over.
Izuku, on the other hand, felt fine.
He had expected the test, prepared for it, and aced it. His body wasn't even sore. Meanwhile, some students like Sato and Mineta looked like they had barely survived a war.
Aizawa was long gone, having ditched them immediately after the test. Now, they just had to sit through a normal class before the day ended.
Unfortunately, that class was Math.
And damn did Izuku hate math.
Math Class A Necessary Evil
The classroom door slid open, revealing their math teacher.
A tall, lanky man with glasses and slicked-back black hair stepped inside, holding a textbook under one arm. He had an air of calm authority, the kind that made students instinctively straighten in their seats. His eyes scanned the class with a neutral expression.
"Good afternoon, Class 1-A. My name is Shinji Kawamoto, and I will be your math instructor for the year."
He set the textbook down on his desk and adjusted his glasses.
"My Quirk is Number Crunch. It allows me to calculate and process large amounts of numerical data in seconds. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean I can do your homework for you."
Some students chuckled at that. Izuku just sighed internally.
So, basically, a human calculator. Cool… but doesn't make this class any less boring.
Kawamoto continued, "Math is the foundation of many skills you'll need as pro heroes, a trajectory calculations, timing, structural integrity assessments, and so on. But I assume none of you care about that right now, so let's just get through today's lesson."
With that, he picked up a marker and began writing on the board.
Izuku tuned out.
It wasn't that he was bad at math, he just didn't care. He had way bigger things to focus on. Like staying ahead of the plot and making sure he thrived in this world.
For the next hour, he went through the motions, jotting down formulas, solving equations, and half-listening as Kawamoto explained various concepts.
By the time class ended, all they had was a small homework assignment, nothing major.
And just like that, the first day of U.A. was over.
Students began packing their things, chatting as they prepared to leave. Izuku casually slung his bag over his shoulder and started making his way toward the door when he heard his name being called.
"Yo! Midoriya!"
Turning, he spotted a group of students walking toward him.
Denki Kaminari, Mashirao Ojiro, Eijiro Kirishima, and… Minoru Mineta.
An interesting combination.
Kaminari grinned. "We're heading to this fried chicken place near the school. Wanna come?"
Izuku raised a brow. "Fried chicken?"
"Yeah," Ojiro nodded. "It's supposed to be really good. It's been a long day, figured we'd grab some food and chill."
Kirishima laughed, throwing an arm around Kaminari. "We actually asked Bakugo first, but..."
Kaminari imitated Bakugo's voice, scowling and growling, "Tch! Piss off, extras!"
The group burst into laughter.
"Yeah," Kirishima chuckled, "so that was a bust. And we thought about inviting Todoroki, but uh… his vibe is kinda…"
"Freaky?" Mineta supplied.
Kaminari snorted. "Yeah. He's cool, but he just stares at people. It's like he's analyzing every single thing we do."
Izuku smirked. If only they knew what the 'Half and Half' been through.
"So, what do you say?" Ojiro asked. "You in?"
Izuku shrugged. "Sure. Fried chicken sounds good."
With that, the group left campus, heading for their destination.
Fried Chicken & Conversations
The restaurant was a small, casual joint not far from U.A., bustling with students from different departments. The air was filled with the smell of crispy fried chicken, sizzling oil, and various seasonings.
The group grabbed a table near the window and placed their orders.
As they waited for their food, the conversation naturally shifted to their first day.
"So, Midoriya," Kirishima leaned forward, arms resting on the table. "Dude, you totally crushed the ball throw. That was insane!"
Izuku grinned. "Thanks. It was fun."
Mineta smirked. "You made Bakugo look like an idiot. That was the best part."
Kaminari laughed. "Yeah, dude, you've gotta tell us... what's up with you two? Bakugo hates you."
Izuku leaned back in his seat. "Eh, we've known each other since we were kids. He's always been like that."
"Childhood rivals?" Ojiro guessed.
"Something like that," Izuku said vaguely. No way was he about to explain the absolute mess that was his past relationship with Bakugo.
Their conversation was interrupted when their food finally arrived.
Crispy, golden-brown chicken pieces were placed in front of them, along with dipping sauces, fries, and drinks. The delicious aroma filled the air as they dug in.
"So," Mineta said between bites, his eyes glinting mischievously, "let's talk about the real important stuff."
Izuku already knew where this was going.
"The girls in our class," Mineta continued, smirking. "We've got some serious hotties."
Kaminari groaned. "Oh god, here we go…"
"Come on, think about it!" Mineta grinned. "Yaoyorozu? Tall, gorgeous, and bouncy. That uniform does wonders for her figure."
Kirishima facepalmed. "Dude, keep it down."
"But he's not wrong," Kaminari admitted. "Yaoyorozu's pretty damn attractive."
Mineta nodded enthusiastically. "And Ashido! She's got that cheerful energy... like, she's the kind of girl who makes things fun."
"She is pretty cool," Ojiro agreed.
Mineta turned to Izuku, smirking. "What about you, Midoriya? You've been suspiciously quiet. Got your eye on anyone?"
Izuku took a sip of his drink, thinking.
Should he mess with them?
Yeah. Yeah, he should.
He smirked. "Hmm… if I had to pick, I'd say Uraraka's cute."
"OHHH?" Kaminari and Mineta leaned forward.
Kirishima laughed. "Dude, that was way too smooth!"
Ojiro chuckled. "And she did sit next to you in class. Something going on there?"
"Nah," Izuku shrugged, amused by their reactions. "She's just easy to talk to."
"That's how it starts," Mineta wiggled his eyebrows.
Izuku laughed, shaking his head. This was actually kinda fun.
The conversation continued, bouncing between topics quirks, the school, future hero plans. The food was great, and for the first time since transmigrating into this world, Izuku felt like he was just… enjoying life.
Eventually, they finished eating, paid the bill, and headed out.
As they walked back toward the train station, Kirishima grinned. "This was fun. We should do it again sometime."
"Agreed," Ojiro nodded.
"Absolutely," Mineta smirked. "Any excuse to talk about hot girls."
Kaminari sighed. "Dude, I swear…"
Izuku chuckled, stuffing his hands into his pockets.
Yeah. This wasn't a bad way to end the first day.
