I shivered at the absurdly dirty thoughts that plagued my mind, as I led Maultner on my route to the Mayor Mansion. I could not stop imagining it: Maultner hitting on me. I'd knee him in the groin! Won't I? Besides, I already had a mate. A hotter mate, Freur just had to be. Then again, I had to be making a big deal out of nothing. Of course I was pretty! Beautiful even! So what if Flourescent got all the compliments? We literally had the same face!
"Why are you unusually quiet?"
"You don't like it?"
"Forget I asked."
You see? Maultner was an annoying prick. He called me pretty by accident. To him, I was Shrek. In just under five minutes of leaving Devin's abode, we were staring at the magnificent mansion. That's how efficient my system of navigating the forests was. Maultner was standing too close behind me while he peered, crouching so that his cheek brushed against my shoulder. I felt tempted to shove him away, but before I could give in to the dark urge, he straightened.
