Chapter 54 - Chapter 54: The Choice Of Truth

Breathless, Mayu opened her eyes again. The world around her had transformed.

She now stood in an expansive white room—without visible walls, without a discernible floor. A luminous void, almost blinding. Yet she felt a presence. No, many presences.

Human shadows gradually formed in the light. Familiar silhouettes—some blurred, others distinct. Were they clones? Memories? Or perhaps fragments of consciousness?

"Welcome to the heart of the system."

The voice resonated, soft yet commanding. A woman appeared, elegant in a white coat. Her face was identical to Mayu's. Perfectly identical—another Mayu.

"You are here because you have reached the point of convergence," the copy said. "The place where everything is decided."

Mayu felt a sudden pressure in her chest, as if the weight of all her past choices were suddenly returned to her.

"You were not born by chance. Your body, your mind, your free will… were the final variables. The Professor wanted to create more than a weapon. He wanted a will."

She clenched her fists.

"And you—what are you? An alternate version?"

The copy smiled sadly.

"I am the Mayu who accepted her role. Who initiated the purge. Who erased a defective humanity to rebuild something new. And you… you must choose."

All around, the other clones crystallized into statues of light. Then three paths materialized before her like floating portals:

---

1. The First Path: The End of Humanity

Mayu becomes the vector of "Rebirth": she activates the final protocol, sacrificing the remaining humans to usher in a new era of evolved, free, and rational clones. Cold, decisive, and irrevocable.

---

2. The Second Path: Total Disobedience

She rejects every programmed directive. By destroying the central system, she triggers the collapse of the complex, liberating both clones and survivors—but plunging the world into unstructured chaos.

---

3. The Third Path: The Legacy of Free Will

Mayu partially merges with the system, seizing control of the data and rewriting the rules herself. She creates a new, hybrid society—imperfect yet free—where clones and humans coexist under her vigilant watch.

---

Mayu staggered before these portals, her breath shallow, her throat tight.

The real question wasn't just what she must do. It was: Who did she wish to become?

Behind her, a familiar figure appeared—Zéro. Her gaze was grave, yet softer than ever.

"You are not alone, Mayu. But you alone must pull the trigger."

Mayu closed her eyes for a moment, inhaling deeply.

Then she stepped forward.

The three paths lay open before her.

And as always…

She would take them all.
