"You're enjoying this," he said.
"Am I?"
"Aren't you? What do you plan to gain by making things difficult for her? She's already like this yet you bring in people to instigate her."
Shantel's voice dropped to a near whisper. "Why would I do that?" Shantel asked silkily. "It's not my business who chooses to shop in the mall. And if fate decides to let certain… ghosts reappear to collect what's owed, who am I to interfere?"
Cillian's silence simmered on the line.
"I trusted you," he finally said.
"And I've kept my word," she replied coolly. "Your sister's alive, free, and learning a very expensive lesson. If you come up with the money, she walks away. But if you can't within the stipulated time and she couldn't make it past these two days with grace—"
"She will and you will get your money," Cillian cut in darkly. "But I'm watching you, Hale. Don't go too far."
Shantel let out a soft chuckle. "Then enjoy the view," she said and ended the call with a click.
