Her heart was racing—How did her name suddenly sound so treasured coming from his lips? It was the first time he was saying her first name alone. Before now, it was either Ms Hale or a clipped and vindictive Shantel Hale!
As if that was not enough, he groaned again against her lips, "Answer me Shan…tel…"
It took extra effort for her mind to come back to his question— perhaps it was because it was the first time she was so close to having anything as intimate as this with any man, or the way her name slipped sensuously from his mouth— all her senses seemed to have been suspended.
When she eventually recalled what his question was, her mind screamed at her to say the word, 'STOP!' but it was already too late and even if she wanted to, her lips refused to form them.
"I still hate you," she whispered instead.
"I know," he replied, barely a breath against her skin. "But you don't hate me enough."
"This is a terrible idea," she murmured, almost breathlessly.
