Aurora shook her head to respond and received a sigh of relief from Josh.
"With my current condition, I can't attend tomorrow's birthday party. Could you ask the doctor for assistance? Perhaps they can give me a notice to take a week off to rest?" she said softly, her voice filled with hope.
Josh shrugs, feeling pity for her. "I'm sorry, but I can't. Boss Alex is already aware that you can go home tomorrow."
Aurora was left speechless.
"You've already told him?" she asked in shock, staring him in the eyes. Even without his words, she understood his response, noticing the worry in his eyes.
"For goodness' sake, Josh! Why on earth did you tell Alex for? You're digging your own—"
Her words stopped when the door finally swung open, and Alex appeared behind it, staring back at her.
As she gazes into his sharp, deep eyes, which seem to hold a thousand secrets, she experiences a flutter of emotions, feeling as if part of her soul is caught in a gentle struggle.
