We appear at the teleport room for Telligence. Odin rubs his chin looking around. "I did not aim for here."
"Could it be my parents? They can force teleports." Few others could manage. And most can't counter Odin's.
Odin nods to me. "Feels like your mother. Teleportation would be a tough task here. She may have a block spell in place for it."
"Why?" Jessica looks to me.
I hate this. There are so many factors I don't know. "William is my teleporter. The goblin sorcerer who helped us handle Brok uses teleport magic as well. But then I'll suggest it's a low level quality outside of my family."
"Then there is knowledge you don't have." Odin smirks at me. That was a common statement from him. 'Knowledge I don't have.' To suggest I need to figure it out faster than I already am. Making inferences and quick assessment so I can handle the more complicated aspects of life as king.
"They could just be denying you because I was sent to you."
"Doubtful." Odin motions us after him. "They know I'm a benefit. If I'm bringing you, it's for a reason."
"It could be an automatic." Jessica points out. "You broke out of prison." And we broke her out of prison as well. "That spell may have-"
"It does. I canceled those too." Odin grins at her. "That confinement spell only worked on me as long as I wanted it to."
I think it over. "There is an automatic blockade if there are enough royal members together." But two? Two shouldn't be enough.
"Yes." Odin is aware of that spell. I can only assume he knows all the spells. "And if both of you are beside Their Majesties, it's guaranteed to act up."
Because that would be four of us. I fake laugh. "I hope Xavier is safe."
"Safely napping at the castle."
I freeze staring at my trainer. "Thousand Year Sleep?"
Odin grins. "Safely napping."
My father just aimed to keep us out of battle. It's annoying. I'm not even that skilled. Why would I be useful? We're fifteen not twenty five.
Jessica reaches out for me. I question it when she pulls back instead. "Thomas... Don't act like you'll become king today."
"I'm going to do everything to stop that." Odin nods. "Not because I have contract allowance, but because I pledged my allegiance to the country. I have always been your support, Thomas. As much as I regretted many things in my life, I do not regret pledging myself to your father."
Pledging... I'm starting to get pledges. I'm getting people who look forward to be acting as king. But I'm not ready yet.
"They're in here." Odin throws open the door to the ballroom. "Your Majesties."
Mom and Father are coordinating battle plans from here with several red knights and the house nobles. "Odin? How'd you...? Bring those two back to the castle." Father is angry. Shocking no one.
"Hi, Father." I place a hand on my sword. It's a half threat. Many here know the damage I can do. I scan the crowd. "Don't threaten Jessica and expect me to act. It's just a contract." Jessica shivers. But to most it does look like just a contract. How would I react if they tried to use Jessica? True love... I know that now. But they don't. "If you want me to act the way you wish, you better focus on me."
"Why bring them here, Odin." Father snarls.
Odin offers a bow to the royals. "We come to help."
"Help how? Those two are inexperienced weaklings."
"Then how did he become the youngest knight?" Odin reviews me. "And he has death on him now. Or... More than before."
"Brok." I tell him. "I was technically marked the murderer in that case. Although I couldn't've managed without William." It was better I was marked. William isn't meant to be a murderer. He's just supposed to be a carriage. Transport. I'll kill. I have killed.
"I thought Hydrangea chopped off its head." Father looks to the queen.
Oh... Mom didn't say that. She turns to the papers before her. The goblins.
"Yeah... Technically. But Brok was going to die from the chest wounds I caused. He had no chance without the best healer. If you see him, he'd be a walking corpse. Is a necromancer involved?"
We stayed there long enough to see the flash of true resurrection. Once a minute passes, the spell cannot be cast. Every moment after that would be a corpse walking. There is a chance that the soul will reattach, but that's a rarity.
"No. Brok isn't seen on the field. But the goblins do seem to be fighting for his sake."
"Suggestion is a goblin family goes into rage when their leader dies." And Brok was the leader of that group. "Hence why it's normally better to wipe out the leader last. However... This was a unique situation." I bow my head. "Sorry for creating trouble."
"Word was they'd be attacking the ball anyway." Father waves it off. "You took out their leader before they could. Most would struggle to take out that level of army in time."
"Thank you, Father." I look to Odin and Jessica. "We are here to help."
The king stares at me. "Why? You're better off staying at the castle. Where you can be safe. What happens if the goblins killed all of us."
"I don't fear goblins. At most it'll be exhausting." I pause. "I can ask my magic to attack them." I turn to Odin. "Can you fly me over the field? There shouldn't be any collateral damage then."
"No, Thomas." The king holds up a hand to me. I'm still not strong enough to handle my full power, which would mean wiping an army of goblins is easy enough. Has to be. Not sure how my magic would answer, though.
"Your Majesty," Odin interjects, "This may be the fastest method. I can repair whatever the prince causes. But I'm unsure which of my spells to use or where to enact them. If Thomas murdered their leader, they'll aim for him."
"Which is why he was supposed to stay at the castle." The king yells at us. "Bring him back home."
I scoff. "I'm going to battle then. I can swing a sword well enough to join. I'm a knight after all." I look at my father with the anger he's been giving me. "You gave me my colors."
"Watch him, Odin." Father sends Odin after me.
Jessica follows me as well. She could've stayed. "What's your plan?"
Odin has us pause before pulling a carpet from no where. He places it nicely on the ground and sits on it. "Sit."
Oh... That's cool. "I'm better standing."
"You'll fall off. Sorry that I do not have a better option for flight at the moment." Odin would need to review his supplies again. He's been trapped away from everything. This was probably a rug he had in his tower.
I sit down and tug Jessica to copy. Then the rug lifts off the ground. "Flight is unstable if you're not used to it. And this rug won't take well to it."
"But the only item I can use at the moment."
