The moonlight filtered through the curtains of the living room, Garrett and Mizuki lay asleep really close on the futons, peaceful as ever.
Was your day like that?
"Zzzzzzz."
Garrett snored like a chainsaw, making her eyes twitch. "Mmm…"
She slowly opened her eyes and blinked groggily, glancing toward the source of noise.
Her ears flattened. "Why is he so loud tonight?"
Rubbing her eyes, she pushed herself up and jabbed into his nostrils. Garrett's eyes snapped open immediately.
Mizuki leaned in, her red eyes inches from his. "Shut up." Her voice was like a kidnapper's.
He nodded hurriedly and sweat slid down his face like a waterfall.
She stared at him for a moment before tiredly flopping down the soft futon again.
Garrett sighed, rolled to the side, and stared at her sleepy face.
"Kookoo," he murmured
He reached out and pressed one of her ears. But little did he know, her ears are sensitive.
"Ahh…"
An accidental moan got out of her lips.
Mizuki's eyes snapped open, her face turned red immediately after realizing what she just let out.
"Did you just–" he startled.
"NO, I-I DIDN'T–" she snapped, yanking the blanket over her head.
He could feel her embarrassment through the blanket. "Um… I… didn't know your ears are sensitive." He muttered.
"JUST SHUT UP, GARRETT!" she yelled at him. Though it's kind of muffled in the blanket.
Garrett exhaled, staring at her blanket. "Guess you don't need me to comfort you." He lay on his back and pulled his blanket over.
Speaking of comfort and relaxation—Mizuki loves it. But warm blankets and quiet nights are still not enough. So… here's Garrett.
She slowly pulled her blanket down, revealing her head. She has hugged him before, so this was nothing new.
The urge was too strong. So,
Without hesitation, Mizuki pulled her blanket away and nuzzled into his warmth.
With that, the night continued on.
…
Somewhere in the Polygore universe.
Meanwhile, three universes away from Garrett…
This place has no planets, only the towering megastructures with different colors filled this sphere.
Obviously, this place was built by The Divines and gravity didn't exist here because they didn't want to.
On one of the largest structures–an upside-down pyramid–eight different supreme deities sat around a long, over-decorative stone table.
"So… have we found the last void monster yet?" Rozen asked, a long black-haired man at the end of the table casually spoke up.
"Yes, we've found it." Togami replied, flipping through scrolls to make herself look intelligent. "But the bad news is, it has… already become a human."
"It'll be fine, It's the last one." A red-haired man, Kichirou, replied flatly to the information.
"Don't say that, young man. That's our weakness, and you still speak like that?" Nakamoto grumbled–a bald, wise elder and supreme deity with three eyes.
Kichirou frowned, clicking his tongue in annoyance. Fuck you, old man.
Hinata could only sigh after she read his mind.
"Argh! We're so bad at planning! At this point, just throw everything at it!" Noxen scoffed no one, adjusting his blue crown with a sigh.
"Planning takes time, you're just impatient." Noa shut Noxen and leaned back, staring at the geometrical nightmare of structures above him.
While these seven deities were planning, Yuna sat quietly the entire time. She was shy and loved hugging her teddy bear–she didn't understand why she was a supreme deity in the first place.
…
Shion folded the curtains, letting the sunlight cast onto Garrett and Mizuki's face. "Wake up sleepy heads~" he teased.
Garrett stirred, trying his hardest to open his eyes. "Ughhh…" he groaned.
However, Mizuki is still asleep and being extremely clingy.
Shion's gaze fixed on Garrett and Mizuki. This sight gave him a flashback about yesterday's morning. "Escape the prison," he said, sitting near them.
Garrett finally realized the situation he's in after rubbing his eyes. "Not again…" he groaned.
1 hour later
Luckily, Mizuki woke up while he was getting her off, therefore his face didn't have a red mark.
"You're always so clingy and annoying." Garrett frowned, rising up to his feet.
"Hehe," Mizuki also did the same, her mind full of ways to annoy him.
"What are we going to eat today?" Shion asked them.
"Bread and eggs?" She replied.
Shion turned his gaze toward Garrett. "What about you?"
"Same as Mizuki," Garrett replied flatly.
"You two buy eggs and bread, I'll be waiting in the kitchen."
Garrett and Mizuki exchange glances.
A moment later, the front door slid shut behind them.
"Let's be quick." He muttered, taking her hand and swiftly running down the street.
"Slow down! You're way too fast for me," She said, her hand clung tighter to his.
Garrett smirked. "You needed some morning jogging, I can't just let you get obese." He teased, approaching the marketplace.
The morning light was comforting, but it's still really hot. The streets are crowded with people, making wagons and caravans hardly pass.
"C-Can you just… walk?" She breathed heavily, gasping for air.
Garrett looked at her with a sigh. "You're so weak, it's just a few minutes of running." He kept holding her hand as he continued, "If you really can't walk, I can carry you."
"No, I-I'm good." Mizuki was still panting.
"Then let's quickly buy eggs and bread." He said, walking toward the market stall that sold both eggs and bread.
He bought three eggs and bread.
Garrett handed her the leather bag. "Let's go home."
Mizuki nodded and followed him.
Three angels, disguised as ordinary humans, had been watching them from afar–ripping off their disguise and lunging at Garrett from behind.
Their golden-steel armors and swords gleamed under the sunlight.
The lead angel swung his sword at Garrett's neck–he pulled Mizuki down while also ducking the swing, Mizuki's eyes widened.
Garrett turned behind and slammed the back of his hand onto the lead angel's stomach with a thud–sending him backward into the other angel behind him.
The second angel darted in and thrust her sword toward Garrett.
He sidestepped the thrust and swung his arm–his punch collided, half of her body vaporized–and blood shot out like a fountain as the other half lay on the cobblestone ground, staining it.
The lead angel and the one behind him scrambled back up, charging at him with incredible speed.
Garrett isn't fucking around anymore.
The two remaining angels came at him in unison, one from the left, the other from the right.
The left angel swung his sword in a wide arc–aiming for his ribs, while the other went for a low strike.
Garrett ducked the blade, grabbed the second angel's wrist mid-swing and twisted–
CRACK!
He quickly snatches the sword before it touches the ground, Garrett holds the sword like a dagger and thrusted in the left angel's throat, leaving it there.
He turned his gaze back to the right angel, and swung his arm… bam! Red juice everywhere. No legs, no head, no torso, nothing.
Garrett's dark clothes were drenched in blood, he looked at Mizuki–who was still on the ground. "You okay?" He said, and began walking over.
She was stunned and speechless at the brutal sight behind him. "...I-Im okay." she muttered, parts of her white hair and face were stained with blood.
He extended his blood-streaked hand toward her, his voice gentler now. "Come on, we need to get home."
Mizuki took his hand without hesitation. "Y-Yeah."
Garrett took the leather bag from her with his other hand, gripping it tightly.
The street went silent, everyone had already run.
…
The shoji door slid open, Garrett and Mizuki stepped in.
Shion looked up, his gaze landed on their blood stained clothes, especially Garrett's. "W-What happened?" His eyes widened, still on the fricking cushion.
Garrett and Mizuki slipped off their boots, walked to the table, and Garrett set the leather bag down with a dull thud, "Don't ask…" he said.
She looked at him while her ears drooped down. "Garrett… Let's take a bath."
He followed her without asking why it's embarrassing.
I guess they killed some bandits? But how? They are still young. Shion thought, grabbing the leather bag into the kitchen.
The sound of cracking eggs and sizzling filled the kitchen, while the aroma slid through a small gap in the door, flowing into the living room.
"I hope they don't do anything sexual in the bathroom…" he muttered, slightly nervous but his eyes stayed focused on the pan.
The eggs were done. Why did it take so long?
He extinguished the firewood, grabbing three plates and serving them along with slices of bread.
With three plates of edibles, he slid the door open using his feet while carefully stepping out.
Garrett and Mizuki were just chilling at the table with towels on their heads.
Garrett pulled her towel left and right repeatedly, trying to dry her hair. In the end, they both took their towels off anyway.
Shion smiled gently at them–while quickly approaching the table and placed the food down. "Time to eat. you two are probably really hungry right now." He glanced at them.
Garrett pulled over his plate and hers. "Looking good!" he said aloud.
Mizuki had already started chewing on the bread and eggs before them.
Shion and Garrett could only sigh at how gluttonous she is.
Garrett poked her cheek with his left index finger while she was chewing. "You were supposed to say itadakimasu, dummy."
Mizuki puffed her cheeks. "Mmmph—too hungry!"
Shion chuckled, setting his own plate down. "Let her be. she's a girl, after all."
Suddenly, Mizuki started to cough. Garrett snapped his gaze to her immediately.
Tears welled up in her eyes, Garrett tried patting against her back with great force but to no avail.
"Hold on! I'm gonna get you water!" Shion quickly stood up and bolted into the kitchen.
She continued to cough violently, gripping her throat as Shion bolted out of the kitchen with a wooden cup of water. "WATER!!" He shouted at Garrett.
Garrett turned behind him and snatched the cup like a professional stealer.
Mizuki took the cup and started chugging, the small chunk of bread that got stuck in her throat finally went down.
They let out a sigh of relief.
"That was… intense." Shion muttered, breathing quicker than usual.
Garrett grimace. "Eat slowly! How many times do we need to tell you about this!?" he scolded her.
She stared at him, slowly processing his words until tears welled up again. "I-I…"
Shion's eyes widened. "Whoa, you didn't have to be so rude, Garrett." Shifting closer to Garrett's side.
Garrett's mood dropped. "Yeah… I-I'm sorry Mizuki." He reached out and pulled her closer to him.
Mizuki's head leaned into his chest while Garrett slid his hand up and down on her left arm. She closed her eyes, relaxing in his embrace.
What the hell is this romance? Kids are so weird. Shion thought, looking away to give them some privacy.
The clock is ticking, the sun is setting, the rays of light stopped shining through the house's windows.
While Garrett is still hugging her, he looks down and notices Mizuki has fallen asleep. "Well… we should sleep too." He said, while stroking her ears and hair.
Shion stretched his back and arms. "Go ahead, I'm going to my room." He stood up, aiming to head upstairs.
With that, Garrett carries her in bridal-style toward her futon effortlessly. He then draped a blanket to her chest-level.
Garrett let out a contented sigh before laying down on his futon and pulled his blanket up.
…
"Shh…" someone's voice echoed in his head.
