Chapter 86 - Satellite Destruction

───「 Human POV 」───

"Godzilla, Godzilla is attacking the space defense network!"

Inside the Asian Command Center for Monster Defense, surveillance officers watched in horror as Godzilla unleashed a torrent of fiery breath skyward. A cold dread settled over the room.

"Is it targeting the orbital satellites?" Colonel Hayes whispered, his voice barely audible.

"That's... impossible," Lieutenant Chen replied, shaking her head. "Those satellites orbit more than 200 kilometers above Earth's surface."

Major Wilson approached the monitor, his brow furrowed. "Godzilla's maximum attack range has never exceeded a few dozen kilometers. There's no way it could reach orbital altitude."

The science officer, Dr. Nakamura, pointed to the data readings. "The flame storms we typically see from Godzilla's attacks are just atmospheric reactions—surrounding air being superheated and gaining kinetic energy. But in space, there's virtually no atmosphere to create that effect."

"So this attack should be harmless to our satellites?" Colonel Hayes asked.

No one answered immediately. They all stared at the massive red fire clouds expanding on the satellite feed, growing more intense by the second.

"Not necessarily," Dr. Nakamura finally said. "If Godzilla's energy output is high enough to essentially blow away the entire atmosphere below... then yes, it could theoretically reach orbit."

"Does Godzilla have that kind of power?" Major Wilson asked.

"We're about to find out," she replied grimly.

A junior officer called out, "Sir! I've pulled up satellite networks from other regions of Australia to get a different perspective."

The main screen switched to a wide-angle view, and the room fell silent.

Where Godzilla stood, a column of flames surged from the ground toward the sky, climbing higher and higher. The satellites, positioned more than 200 kilometers above Earth, suddenly didn't seem so distant from the approaching inferno.

"My God," Colonel Hayes whispered. "It's going to engulf the entire satellite network."

"Alert Command immediately!" Major Wilson ordered. "This is a Priority One situation!"

───「 GODZILLA POV 」───

The power coursed through my body, different than before. Stronger. More focused.

I could sense them up there—the tiny metal objects circling above. Watching. Waiting. Their energy signatures hummed with potential threat.

No more. I would not be monitored. I would not be targeted.

I gathered the atomic fire within me, felt it build in my core, rising through my spine. The sensation was both familiar and new—like discovering a limb I never knew I possessed.

Up. That's where they were. Up beyond the clouds, beyond the sky itself.

I unleashed my breath, not in a blind rage but with precision. The beam tore through the atmosphere, heating the air into plasma as it traveled. Distance meant nothing. The satellites were simply targets, and I would remove them all.

One by one, their energy signatures winked out. Good. The air around me vibrated with the cascading destruction happening far above.

I would move next. There were more of these watching eyes to destroy.

───「 Human POV 」───

General Zhang paced the command center as reports flooded in.

"What did you say? Godzilla destroyed all the near-Earth satellites over Australia?"

The tactical officer's face was pale. "Not just one batch, sir. After destroying the first cluster, it moved deliberately to central Australia and attacked again. Another whole sector of satellites is gone."

"Doing this the moment it wakes up..." General Zhang muttered, his fists clenched. "Damn that monster."

The implications were clear to everyone in the room. Without satellite coverage over Australia, there would be a massive gap in their nuclear strike network—a gap that could be detected by Ghidorah's Wings when they arrived.

"Options?" General Zhang barked.

"Limited, sir," his adjutant replied. "We can't kill it—we all know that. But we need to contain it somehow."

General Zhang stared at the monitor showing the rapidly decreasing number of defense satellites in the East Asian region. His frustration mounted with each vanishing dot.

"What about the politicians? Have they made a decision yet?"

The adjutant shook his head. "Still deliberating, sir. The Australian representatives are protesting any major action."

"Protesting?" General Zhang slammed his fist on the table. "We took them in when they had nowhere else to go, and now they're worried about their precious ecology while that monster destroys our only defense against what's coming?"

His voice rose with each word. "If Godzilla reaches mainland East Asia, we have nowhere to retreat. We'll have to fight to the death. Don't they understand that? Are they willing to sacrifice the entire world for Australia's ecosystem?"

The room fell silent until a communication officer spoke up. "Sir, incoming transmission from Central Command."

General Zhang straightened. "Well? Have those bureaucrats finally seen reality?"

"Yes, sir. Authorization code received. Operation Oxygen Destroyer is approved."

A grim smile crossed General Zhang's face. "Bring the code pot. It's time to use Senzaki's weapon."

At 12:11 PM, East Asian Time, May 10, 2208, after witnessing Godzilla's systematic destruction of space satellites, the World United Government approved the deployment of the Oxygen Destroyer in the Asian operational zone.

Five minutes later, humanity would witness thedestructive power of the Oxygen Destroyer for the first time.
