The closer one got to the outskirts of the Great Star Dou Forest, the more desolate the surroundings became.
Ruined walls and scattered bones littered the ground, and even from a distance, Ye Wen could smell the stench of blood.
Seeing this scene, Ye Wen frowned slightly.
"What a calamity."
He had been meticulously building his power base, carefully avoiding conflicts to minimize casualties.
But who would have thought that the "butterfly effect" or the influence of a time traveler could be so severe? A massive beast tide that was supposed to occur during Douluo II had erupted prematurely in this era.
"What exactly happened?" Ye Wen muttered to himself.
Based on his understanding of the Azure Bull Python, Ye Wen knew the creature shouldn't have initiated such an event.
However, since Di Tian had orchestrated the great beast tide in Douluo II, Ye Wen naturally suspected him first. No need to ask why—Di Tian was currently the only being capable of inciting such a large-scale beast tide.
As for why Ye Wen personally intervened despite Tang San's claim in the original story that gods couldn't interfere in mortal affairs—
Come on, what about Tang San's war with the Spirit Hall?
According to the rules of the divine realm, as long as it didn't involve mass slaughter or world-ending destruction, newly ascended gods were allowed to remain in the mortal world for up to 100 years. After all, it wouldn't make sense for a god to endure provocations from unruly mortals without retaliating—that would be too undignified.
Moreover, as a new god, spreading faith was essential. It wasn't feasible to just slack off and cultivate in the mortal world for 100 years. Look at how widely the legends of the Seven Treasures Glazed Pagoda Sect spread in Douluo II.
Low-level spirit beasts didn't require Ye Wen's personal intervention. His disciples had already been dispatched with modified soul ring simulators designed by Ye Wen to various locations to drive back the beasts and provide disaster relief.
Low-level spirit beasts generally lacked intelligence, so simulating the presence of a powerful spirit beast was enough to scare them off.
Although the meat of these low-level beasts was valuable, Ye Wen believed it was better to avoid excessive killing to ensure future soul masters wouldn't face a shortage of prey.
Now, Ye Wen was heading toward the battlefield where the Azure Bull Python was locked in combat with Sword Elder and the others.
Spirit beasts with time-based attributes were incredibly rare.
Ye Wen had long intended to recruit the Azure Bull Python as one of his divine officials, but due to insufficient divine power, the plan had been put on hold. He certainly couldn't let Sword Elder and the others damage the Azure Bull Python.
However, Ye Wen's concerns turned out to be unnecessary.
Without their battle armor, Sword Elder, though capable of defeating opponents of the same level instantly, was severely restricted by the Azure Bull Python's Slowing Domain.
As Ye Wen always believed, any attack that couldn't land was meaningless. The Azure Bull Python had mastered his Slowing Domain to perfection. Once an opponent entered his domain, all attacks were slowed, giving him ample time to evade.
Soon, Ye Wen arrived at the battlefield.
Only by facing such a colossal creature directly could one truly appreciate how exaggerated the Azure Bull Python's size was.
His massive horns and bull head were as large as half a Titan Ape's, and given that a Titan Ape's body was already as big as a small mountain, combined with his body length of over a hundred meters, the Azure Bull Python's physical strength alone rivaled that of a fiendish beast. Not to mention his heaven-defying talent.
Unfortunately, battles weren't just about physical strength—many other factors came into play. In the original storyline, this poor creature was slowly poisoned to death by Bibi Dong, allowing Tang San to benefit from his and Erming's sacrifices.
Speaking of which, the relationship between these three was quite amusing—they followed the order of one, two, three: Lick Dog #1, Lick Dog #2, and Lick Dog #3. It was baffling how Xiao Wu had them so obsessed.
And how did a dragon and an ape develop feelings for a rabbit? Truly perplexing. Their circle was quite chaotic.
Back to the topic at hand.
The battle was undoubtedly terrifying. The area within a hundred miles had been flattened, and the ground was littered with the corpses of several high-level spirit beasts aged 80,000 to 90,000 years.
Not far away, Ye Wen even spotted the Three Brothers of the Thousand-Pound Ant Emperor observing the battle.
Though their three-meter stature seemed minuscule in this clash, their presence made Ye Wen realize that this matter was far more complex than it appeared on the surface. According to the original storyline, the Three Brothers of the Thousand-Pound Ant Emperor had attempted to seize territory near the Lake of Life but were driven out of the core area by the Azure Bull Python and his allies. The two sides clearly had animosity.
Ye Wen didn't plan to intervene in this battle—it was merely a skirmish among beings below level 100.
Hovering above the central battlefield, Ye Wen unleashed his overwhelming aura.
Sword Elder and the others froze mid-action, halting their attacks.
The Azure Bull Python's Slowing Domain shattered in an instant, and he looked up in shock.
"Everyone, stop," Ye Wen said calmly.
This unprecedented aura not only quelled any desire for the Azure Bull Python to fight but also caused the nearby high-level spirit beasts observing the battle to collapse in fear, trembling uncontrollably.
Recognizing Ye Wen, Sword Elder and the others quickly retracted their martial souls and bowed to him mid-air.
With such a powerful being present, who would dare to act recklessly?
Did they want to die faster?
Ye Wen waved his hand dismissively and then turned his gaze to the Azure Bull Python, asking,
"Azure Bull Python, or should I call you Da Ming? You're practically family. Ah Rou and Xiao Wu are doing well under my care."
Da Ming's expression brightened with joy, followed by a sigh of relief.
Relief because this powerful human didn't seem to be taking sides—his life was safe. Joy stemmed from knowing his family was thriving in the human world.
Unlike Erming, who was adopted by Ah Rou, Da Ming had been saved by Xiao Wu during his youth. Though he later surpassed her in strength, he still regarded Xiao Wu as his older sister and Erming as his younger brother. Over thousands of years of companionship, the three had become his true family.
Ye Wen continued,
"This beast tide probably wasn't your idea. Can you tell me who orchestrated it?"
Da Ming fell silent. His limited experience couldn't distinguish between a god-level being and a fiendish beast.
Sensing Da Ming's hesitation, Ye Wen reassured him,
"Don't worry. I am currently invincible on the Douluo Continent."
As he spoke, Ye Wen unleashed his godly aura, causing every living being present to bow even lower in submission.
This dispelled Da Ming's final doubts. Bowing respectfully, he replied,
"I don't know much. The instigator should be an entity deep within the Lake of Life. When I saw him, he appeared in human form, likely possessing the ability to transform like Auntie Ah Rou.
However, there was one distinct feature—he had golden eyes. That's all I know. I initially refused, but his displayed power was overwhelming, and I had no choice but to comply."
