Once Komaru went inside his home, he reflected on the things which happend today.
I have been accepted into the job very easily. There wasn't even any kind of tests. Ryota should be the same age as me, but he is better than me in every way.
Maybe not in strength, after all, he showed no concerns regarding my low grade. He is also probably at the Nascent grade.
I will head to the station tomorrow morning. He did not specify the exact time, but I will go there at sharp 7 a.m. Its not like I will go to work late like the natives from Zegaer Kingdom...
Zegaer Kingdom is the country which is located south to Grazinas. They are seperated by the Guardian Sea. The natives of Zegaer wake up late most of the times, due to working overtime during night or partying.
This was a character trait special to the natives of Zagaer. They will stay up late, either drinking Freyam Beer or working non stop.
Anyways, I should be able to gain some experience through this job, aside from earning decent money. Not only that, but as a crime reporter, I will get to encounter crime scenes very frequently. Yes, who wouldn't be excited to uncover mysteries.
After concluding his thinking session, Komaru went to the kitchen to cook the food he had bought from Xavier.
He took out two sticks of speagus and peeled it off.
A speagus stick is green in colour. It has a thin layer of leaf covering it. The way to cook a speagus stick was to simply peel off its skin, and then either boil it in hot water for five minutes or eat it raw.
Eating it raw was surely more beneficial, but it would taste extremely bitter, which most of the people did not like. Boiling it in hot water not only made it a little sweet, but it also helped reduce its toughness.
Komaru put the two sticks inside hot boiling water, and while they were boiling, he took some amount of alsern wheat flour and put it in a silver bowl.
He poured some water in it and made a dough of it. He flattened the dough and let it rest for a few minutes.
He then took out the boiled speagus sticks, and put them on the flattened dough.
He rolled the dough around and then put it in the oven. After five minutes, he took out his dish and put it on a silver plate.
He then went on the dining table and quickly finished his meal.
Hmm...it was pretty delicious. Much better than the usual rice and ferden stew in Delergen.
In Delergen, rice and fergen stew were the common dish. Delergen's cuisine was very bland in comparison to other cities like Cascane city and Matalop. This was because the materials present in Delergen were very limited.
For the rest of the day, Komaru had nothing else to do so he just practised using his Historical Echo, for the next 4 hours or so.
When it was dark outside, he decided to bid farewell to the day and started sleeping.
The next day, Komaru woke up at 6 a.m and quickly showered and prepared his breakfast.
At 6:40, he took the lift to the ground floor.
When he arrived at the ground floor through the lift, he saw Mrs Donnie.
"Good morning, Mrs. Donnie." Komaru politely greeted her.
"Good morning. Where are you headed to this early in the morning?" she asked.
"Yesterday I went to look for good paying jobs. I saw the poster about recruiting a person for being a crime reporter. I then went to the location and got hired. It will pay me 59 Cinder every month. Right now I am heading to my job location."
Mrs Donnie showed a look of understanding and a small bit of surprise. "A crime reporter is a decent job. Aside from encountering various types of crimes, its very good for a faithful kid like you."
Why does she keep calling me faithful? Its so weird man... Komaru held back his urge to say, "Stop calling me faithful!"
With a smile, he bade her farewell and went out on the Stupart street. He started walking towards his job location.
After walking for 30 minutes, he reached his destination.
He entered the station, and greeted the policemen present there.
Komaru was wearing the same clothes he wore yesterday. He had forgotten to buy clothes for himself!
Man, I must look weird... how the fuck did I forget buying new clothes? With a self-depreciating smile, he went to the main desk.
He saw Ryota leisurely sitting on the chair with his legs on the table. He wore the same blue coloured uniform.
"Good mornng, Mr. Ryota." Komaru bowed and greeted him.
"There is no need for the formalities dude. We are the same age. Anyways, good morning." Ryota stood up from his seat.
"Starting from today, you will be my personal assistant. You report to me the crime details, and I will go handle the investigation, got it?" He said in a relaxed tone.
"Got it." Komaru replied.
"I don't think there is anything for you to do today, so you can ask me some questions or you can go into the library inside to read some books." Ryota smiled.
All that waking up early just for me to have no work to do... Komaru silently sighed.
"Hmm...can I ask questions related to history?" Komaru asked.
Komaru was testing the waters here. He knew he could get information about history from the books aswell, but he wanted to see if the man named Ryota knew his stuff.
"Sure. But do know that I am not omniscient so I don't know everything." Ryota reminded him with a smile.
"First question. Can you give me information about the first, second and third world war?"
"I will start from the third world war. The third world war was between the allied forces of Dragol Empire, Gorsiles Empire and Rasken Kingdom against the allied forces of Zegaer Kingdom, Furanca Empire and the Sestilia Republic. It began on the 1st of August, 1462. Out of the eight countries present in the Begeral Continent, six of them participated in this war.
"The war began when Zegaer kingdom, who had lost a lot of its resources during the second world war, attempted to take control of the coal mines in Rasken kingdom. In the beginning, Zegaer Kingdom had sent out around eleven Ascended grade people to monitor the coal mines, but a single Celestial grade woman wiped out all of them alone.
"Her name is Lucia Bane. She is one of the strongest humans, ranking 45th on the leaderboards. Do know that ahead of her are only a handful of humans. Anyways, due to this incident, Zegaer Kingdom was furious. They attacked Fengol, a city in the southern outskirts of Rasken Kingdom. But due to being the only country with no other countries sharing land border, it was extremely hard for Zegaer Kingdom to send out a lot of its forces.
"Thats why, they took help of Sestilia Republic, who also lost the second world war alongside Zegaer. The king of Sestilia Republic, Perez Gunther, had very close ties with the queen of Furanca Empire, Lady Milina Avendor. So Furanca Empire decided to finally be part of their first ever war.
"Furanca Empire had the most number of Celestial grades out of the 704 present in human world. They held the most power in the Begeral Continent. They also had a large number of Eclipse grade Artifacts. This made Zegaer Kingdom along with Furanca and Sestilia extremely powerful. Infact, it was nearly impossible to beat them.
"Rasken Kingdom had a very good relationship with Gorsiles Empire and Dragol Empire, since these three had also participated in the first world war. They also had a lot of Eclipse-grade Artifacts and Celestial grades, but the enemy forces were clearly much stronger.
"People call the side of Rasken Kingdom the Great Power, while the side of Zegaer Kingdom the Greater Power. But in this war, which went on for 6 years, the Great Power won against the Greater Power, because of a single faction. The faction's name is the Eternal Faith. It is said that the legendary diety Vorthas, supported them. "
Upon hearing this, Komaru showed a look of surprise and puzzlement on his face and asked, "A single faction was able to turn the tides of the world war?"
Ryota nodded and replied, "Yes. Thats how strong they are. Out of the numerous factions in the world, they are considered to be one of the strongest. Only a few factions are stronger than them. And those factions have some ancient dieties supporting them. Their leader is called God of Mortals."
"When the Eternal Faith decided to participate in the war, the tide of the battle turned. God of Mortals killed one Celestial grade every day, stopping at a baffling 9 Celestial grades in just 9 days. Out of the 113 Celestial grades present with the Greater Power, 9 were killed just by single man.
"This made the Greater Power slowly surrender. As a result, Zegaer were asked to signed the peace treaty and had to give up Colasgan, one of the most important cities of Zegaer. This was a huge loss for them, and with this loss they officially became the weakest country in the world.
"Theres still a lot more secrets about the third world war, but not much is discovered yet. I will tell you about the 2nd and 1st world wars after some days. If you have any other questions, you can ask me right now."
Eternal Faith and the God or Mortals... it is safe to assume that the God of mortals is someone ranked very high on the leaderboards. I wouldn't be surprised if he ranked in the top 50.
Theres still a lot to know about the third world war. Perhaps there was another hidden existence helping the Great Power. Its not easy to make the forces of Furanca. They clearly had more Celestial grades than Rasken and Gorsiles. Yes, I remember reading that the king of Grazinas, Dubariz Gorbos II had contacted the king of Gorsiles Empire, Darwin the 3rd to get information about Yosuke Daichi. Perhaps Grazinas Empire had a hand in this war...
Komaru switched to another question, "Can you tell me everything about Artifacts?"
Ryota nodded, "Sure. Artifacts are formed in two ways. First, when a person gets corrupted, they disappear on the spot, leaving behind their remaining energy known as corrupted energy. When this energy comes in contact with any item, it gains a fraction of powers related to the corrupted energy.
"The second way is a little complicated. When you evolve your Principle, and do the ritual to gain the next batch of energy from the corresponding celestial star, theres a small chance that a very small amount of energy leaks out. This energy can turn an item into an Artifact.
"The problem with the first method is that the Artifacts will make you more prone to corruption. This is because the Artifact is essentially just an item with corrupted energy infused in it. This means that aside from having severe restrictions, you will be more inclined to become rash and be corrupted.
"The second method is also very dangerous. This is because unlike the first method, where the item gains powers from the corrupted energy's Principle, the Artifact formed by the leaked energy will have random powers. This means that you won't know what powers the Artifact possesses.
"Artifacts are graded based on their powers. The higher the grade, the more dangerous the Artifact is. The grades are- Flame, Zenith, Mystic and Eclipse, in ascending order. Just like the Principle grading system, this grading system is the same across all four races. The gods have the most Celestial grades and Eclipse grade Artifacts."
When Ryota finished speaking, Komaru nodded in understanding. The higher the grade, the more dangerous it is...This is pretty balanced. You will need to be very careful with the Artifacts, or else you get corrupted. Damm, no wonder the leaderboards is dominated by the god race. They have the most Celestial grades and the most Eclipse hrade Artifacts.
"I don't have any other questions for now." Komaru said.
"Alright. You can go in the library for now. After going through that door, turn right and you will see it." Ryota pointed towards the door.
Komaru nodded and went towards the library.
