Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 Holy Blood

At this moment, on the ground.

Once it was confirmed that the Mother had been completely paralyzed and temporarily lost its ability to attack, the attention of the four-person squad shifted entirely to the man on the rooftop.

Chen Jian's 191 was already pointed in the man's direction, while one drone ascended to maintain surveillance and the other approached the man, trying to figure out his intentions.

He Shuo maneuvered the drone to sway left and right, making a gesture of friendliness.

But evidently, the man did not understand the meaning of this gesture.

He merely gazed curiously in the direction of the drone, seeming to want to understand how it operated.

Given that the drone lacked remote communication capabilities, Chen Jian could only shout loudly from below:

"Who are you? We mean no harm!"

He wasn't unaware that the remaining humans on this post-apocalyptic wasteland might pose a threat to the squad—Du Hu's group of refugees had already taught him that lesson.

But he also knew very well that the squad absolutely could not give up contacting other humans just because of a single danger.

The only result of doing so would be to lose any chance of obtaining assistance, gradually suffocating to death in isolation.

Therefore, interaction and probing were necessary.

In case of an emergency, the 12.7mm caliber sniper rifle in He Shuo's hands would teach him a lesson.

What the Mother could withstand, these humanoid creatures definitely could not!

Thinking of this, Chen Jian continued shouting:

"Can you hear my voice? We are not your enemies!"

The man on the rooftop still did not respond, but through the images transmitted by the drone, Chen Jian noticed the walkie-talkie in his hand.

This made him even more certain of the man's value and more determined to make contact with him.

Having a walkie-talkie, being able to use it, and even possibly knowing how to repair and maintain it, meant that this man, and the group behind him, retained a relatively complete aspect of human civilization, a completely different existence from the previous group of refugees.

However, the man seemed to be ignoring Chen Jian.

He glanced below, then placed the walkie-talkie back into his chest.

Immediately after, he pulled something out from his waist.

"Gun! Gun!"

Chen Jian shouted out, and almost instantly, He Shuo had already pulled the trigger.

"Bang!"

At this moment, the direct distance between He Shuo and the man was less than 200 meters.

With a flight speed of 900 meters per second, it would take less than 0.3 seconds for the bullet to hit the man.

It was almost impossible for anyone to dodge this bullet.

But the man did it.

In the perilously short 0.3 seconds, he tilted his body sideways with astonishing speed, raising his right hand holding a gun and firing at the airborne drone.

"Bang!"

The distinctive gunshot sounded, and the drone in flight relied on survival enhancement features to autonomously execute evasive maneuvers after recognizing the gun in the man's hand, narrowly avoiding the bullet.

Meanwhile, the high-caliber bullet from He Shuo narrowly passed under the man's armpit.

"Damn! And it missed?"

He Shuo was stunned, and Chen Jian had already aimed at the man's still unstable body, firing a short burst.

The shots missed.

After tilting, the man quickly straightened up, and Chen Jian's lead had just missed his body.

If the first time was luck, the same luck couldn't possibly occur twice.

Chen Jian immediately realized the man's extraordinary nature.

Such reaction speed, such physical qualities... perhaps he was what they referred to as... a Holy Blood?

Without time to think further, Chen Jian quickly ordered:

"He's shown hostility, take him down!"

"Drone, increase altitude for tracking, relay position information in real-time."

"All four of you, position yourselves in different directions, surround the target building!"

"Understood!"

The squad quickly moved, immediately changing their target.

The unfortunate Mother still lay struggling on the ground, like a fish out of water.

Mere minutes ago, it was the most powerful creature in the area, at the top of the food chain.

Minutes later, it had become an entity the "ants" paid no attention to. If the Mother had consciousness, it might have felt regret.

After all, it was the first to start the attack!

Unfortunately, by this time the four-person squad had already completely regarded it as a non-threatening secondary target, and continued moving forward without even glancing at it.

Their eyes only saw the man atop the high building.

Chen Jian tightly gripped the 191, keeping the street ahead locked in sight.

He wasn't sure if the man was alone or had other teammates.

But no matter what, since the drone hadn't issued any new heat source warnings, they wouldn't stop the operation.

The group's pace was fast, completing the encirclement of the building in just half a minute.

Chen Jian originally thought that the following assault on the building would be the main event, but never expected....

The man leaped off the rooftop.

Then, from the drone's perspective, he landed with a bang on the rooftop of another building, separated by dozens of meters, and with a height gap of at least six meters.

And he was unharmed.

"Damn! Is he even human??"

Chen Jian was shocked, then continued to issue orders:

"Keep tracking, drone maintain surveillance."

"Do not lose sight, once we lose him, we'll never find him again!"

"Understood! Already in smart tracking mode!"

Data flowed quickly and efficiently between the six operational units and six intelligent terminals, making the tracking swift and effective.

The man continued leaping from rooftop to rooftop, each jump shocking Chen Jian.

---- But unfortunately, the actual effect of such actions was disappointingly small.

Without an aerial view, perhaps after the first or second leap, the four-person squad would have already lost him.

But can you jump faster than a drone?

The two drones shadowed the man closely, even predicting the direction he would jump to.

On the ground, the four-person squad didn't even need to expend energy running to follow; they just needed to maintain mobility to reach the most advantageous interception point by the shortest and quickest route.

After several jumps, the man finally realized this wasn't the way out.

He turned into the building, attempting to hide from the aerial view of the drone.

But what he didn't know was that this drone was equipped with a mini-Doppler radar detection system, whose functions included not only real-time terrain modeling but, more importantly.....

It could detect targets around corners.

It was originally a deadly weapon for CQB operations, and indoors was its main battlefield!

Thus, the man was horrified to find that the ghostly drone always followed him, keeping a corner's distance.

He couldn't attack the drone, but clearly, it could see him!

The man felt fear for the first time. After descending over ten flights of stairs in a hurry, he jumped out through a broken window, landing on the ground.

Thus, he once again exposed himself to the view of another drone that maintained high-altitude surveillance, and also to the crossfire of the four-person squad.

"Open fire!"

"Hold your fire!"

Chen Jian and the man's voices rang out almost simultaneously, but actually, there was no need for Chen Jian to speak; the four guns had already simultaneously spat flames.

"Bang!"

"Bang bang bang!"

"Rat-tat-tat----"

The man's body twisted in an unusual pose and then lunged forward, dodging the definitely lethal high-caliber bullet and several short bursts by Chen Jian and Shen Yue, but ultimately did not avoid the high-rate QCQ171.

Flesh burst open, and the man fell to the ground in pain.

Chen Jian wanted to finish him off, but the man spoke again:

"Hold your fire!"

"I mean no harm!"

Chen Jian calmly raised his hand, ordering:

"Stay alert, aim for vital points."

Then he shouted in the man's direction:

"It's not for you to decide whether you mean no harm."

"Show me proof!"
