"It's an incomplete summon," the guild watcher muttered. "A fragment of a conscious. Just a part of it's will is there."
"We must end it here completely," Anne shouted from behind with a firm voice despite the pressure.
The malformed creature screeched with an ancient ring - one from the abyss that didn't belong in the present world.
A mass of tendrils stretched out in all directions. Its flesh continued to shift and merge. It was a grotesque sight that would make any with a weak stomach churn and empty its contents.
Its single vertical eye blinked and locked onto the trio. It was an eye filled with rage, hatred, and hunger.
Feng Ye flinched and tightened his stance. The pressure from the enemy slammed into him like a hammer. He gripped the red blade tightly.
"The demon is making it's move!" The guild watcher shouts as he lunges to dodge a nearby thick tendril that had smashed the position he was previously at.
Feng Ye also lept backward to avoid a different thick tendril trunk that had slammed towards him.
"We need to cut its core!" Anne yells from the entrance. She was not idling as she continued to release numerous spells consisting of both buffs and barriers.
The guild watcher made his move as soon as he finished avoiding the trunk that had slammed in his direction.
An opening! He lunged forward. The tentacled creature was too quick unfortunately and was able to respond in kind. Several thick tendrils shot towards him, their edges sharpened like spears.
CLANG. CLANG. CLANG.
The guild watcher exchanged numerous blades with the tentacles. He intercepted one of the tendrils midair and sliced through it. He parried the others.
"I'll take the left!" the guild watcher barked. "Aim for the core! The glowing mass near the center."
"Anne! You got one shot! I'll take the right side!" Feng Ye shouts as he ducks under another sharp tendril that whips over his head. He sprinted low, weaving through the barrage of attacking tendrils.
The creature was uncoordinated. Its attacks weren't precise. It attacked widely but lacked intelligence and refined control to precisely target its enemies.
They had to exploit this advantage if there was any hope to survive.
Suddenly, numerous trunks swung at Feng Ye. There was no way to dodge.
"F*CK!!!" Feng Ye exclaims.
At this time, Anne chanted from the doorway, her hands covered with crackling spells. She stretched her palm towards where Feng Ye stood.
A binding spell shot at the trunks that were about to slam down, binding them in place. These tendrils froze in place.
"GO!" Anne shouts.
This was the opportunity, Feng Ye knew he had to seize his chance. With both hands tightly holding his blade, he swung in a large arc motion slicing all the trunks that were bound by Anne's spell.
"NOW!" The guild watcher shouts again.
Feng Ye after his swing didn't step back. He lunged forward directly towards the creature's core. The glowing mass near its center was a bulb shape like the top of a Kraken of giant squid.
He jabbed his blade into the center of the demon. He dug deep into the demon's body.
He didn't stop there. He dragged the blade upwards going towards the bulb.
The demon shrieked again.
Blood splattered across the floor.
The guild watcher meanwhile also lunged forward and slashed his blade in a horizontal arc cutting off the nearby tendrils before throwing his blade directly at the glowing bulb.
It pinned the bulb to a nearby wall.
Feng Ye continued to slash. Horizontal slash, vertical slash, diagonal slash. Feng Ye slashed at the core.
The core was tough though, it seemed as though it was armored.
"It's tough! Anne! We need to blast it!" Feng Ye yelled as he stepped back to avoid the incoming tendrils that immediately prevented him from continuing to slash.
The guild watcher also jumped backward temporarily retreating.
"We'll cut a path through, Anne you blast it afterwards!"
Anne nods. "I'll need ten seconds!" She shouted.
Suddenly, her entire body was wrapped in mana. Swirling spells formed around her body. These spells collected together on both of her palms.
"That's too long!" The guild watcher shouted back.
"We'll do it!" Feng Ye gritted his teeth.
"Argh!" The guild watcher yelled in frustration as he cut up a few more nearby tendrils.
The demon was aware that they were trying to attack its core. More tendrils struck out widely from its torso in all directions. These contained numerous spikes and were sharpened more so than the previous tendrils.
These tendrils continued to lash in all directions. Slamming into the ground, the walls, and the nearby furniture.
Feng Ye pushed forward. His body moved quickly due to Anne's previous buff still being effective. He sliced one tendril then another, and continued to weave through them. He kicked off the nearby desk and launched himself into a spin.
He redirected a barrage of blows away from Anne's position.
The guild watcher lifted a nearby collapsed bookshelf and flung it directly at the tentacled demon. The demon's tendrils immediately cut apart the bookshelf. However, the guild watcher used it to hide his true intentions. To provide an opening to cut more tendrils.
As soon as the tendrils were occupied by the bookshelf, he sliced through them and lunged forward digging his blade deep into the body of the demon.
"Seven seconds!" He grunted.
At this time, a large intense pillar of magic circulated around Anne. Everyone felt this change. The demon also felt this. It felt an intense threat from Anne.
It shrieked and all its tendrils shifted their attention to Anne ignoring Feng Ye and the guild watcher. The tendrils snapped towards Anne like spears fired from a railgun.
It knew it had to eliminate the threat once and for all.
Anne didn't stop her spell. She continued to cast. Her eyes focused on the growing amount of concentrated magic power in her palms. Her eyes were locked in on the tentacle demon's core.
There was no time to think. He pushed off the floor and sprinted past the broken bookshelf that had been previously shattered by the demon's tendrils.
Too far. He wouldn't make it.
The tendrils were faster.
However, there was someone else that was faster.
The tendrils never reached her.
CLANG. CLANG. CLANG.
The guild watcher had been the closest to the core of the demon. The demon had disregarded him to direct all its tendrils to attack Anne.
Seizing this opportunity, the guild watcher lept upwards slicing apart the tendrils that were about to reach Anne. It was not enough, but it took some time.
Feng Ye crashed into the other side. He slashed widely at the onslaught of tendrils jabbing widely towards Anne. He continued to spring towards her. The guild watcher was able to buy him enough time to intercept the second wave of tendrils.
"Three seconds!" Anne shouted.
Feng Ye gritted his teeth. Just three more seconds! It seemed short, but in combat, it was a long three seconds.
He continued to slash at the approach tendrils.
The guild watcher continued to slash, but some of the tendrils diverted toward him forcing him back.
"Two…"
"GET CLEAR!" Anne cried.
With one final diagonal slash, Feng Ye dove to the side out of Anne's line of fire. The guild watcher also dove to one side.
A glowing halo of magic danced around her,
Anne's hands thrust forward in front of her. Both of her palms, surging with a dense collection of magical energy opened towards the demon. This dense magical energy was blinding, golden, and pure.
"FINAL REVELATION!" She shouted.
A beam of pure, sacred light erupted from her hands.
The beam shone as bright as the sun. It was blinding to look at.
Feng Ye and the guild watcher closed their eyes. It was too bright to handle.
It tore across the room in a perfectly straight line and illuminated the entire office.
The tendrils froze for a brief moment.
Then…
BOOOM!
A deafening explosion of light and heat followed. It swallowed the core of the demon.
