Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: The Milk with a Strange Taste

At night, her energy was almost exhausted, and it wasn't until dawn that Wen Nuan dragged her aching body out of bed. She instinctively looked beside her, her expression slightly stunned.

Reaching out her small hand, she found that it had long been cold. In other words, Leng Yan—her husband had left a long time ago.

Did he go out?

"Young Madam, you're awake, aren't you?"

The door to the room wasn't tightly closed, and some sounds could be heard. A servant who had long prepared breakfast knocked on the door and asked softly.

"Awake, Sister Ping, where is the Young Master?"

Wen Nuan put on her slippers, opened the door, and asked.

Yesterday, she had already met the servants here, with Sister Ping being responsible for the three meals. A woman in her forties, slightly plump, and appeared very kind.

"The Young Master... oh, Young Master, you haven't had breakfast yet."

As Sister Ping casually pointed downstairs, she saw Leng Yan had already opened the door downstairs, and as she called out, she was answered by the sound of the door closing.

What a strange person!

Watching the disappearing silhouette, Wen Nuan lightly furrowed her brows.

So tender and gentle last night, yet leaving silently this morning. What kind of marriage is this?

"Young Madam, the Young Master definitely has urgent matters to attend to, he didn't hear me calling him just now."

Sister Ping paused slightly, then quickly turned back, speaking softly to Wen Nuan.

Yesterday, everyone knew about the groom not attending the wedding. And the Young Madam seemed to be such a good-tempered person, so as a woman herself, she felt sympathetic towards Wen Nuan.

"Maybe."

Wen Nuan smiled faintly, her beautiful face revealing no thoughts. But her chest felt blocked, as if something was not right, and she couldn't figure out what Leng Yan was trying to do.

He was absent before the wedding, not even attending it. Yet, when he returned at night, he was endlessly gentle with her, but insisted on not turning on the lights. And in the morning, she didn't even know when he left the room, or even say a good morning, just left the house.

No, more bizarrely, she hadn't even seen what he looked like. They never really had a face-to-face meeting.

Isn't it strange?

"Young Madam, go eat. The Young Master even personally poured you a glass of milk, saying it's good for you and that you must finish it."

Sister Ping saw her somewhat forlorn expression, thinking that her Young Master had hurt the Young Madam's heart and hurriedly spoke.

Poured her milk?

Is this man really so considerate? She couldn't deny that last night he was indeed very gentle, even making her feel cared for. But more often, he made her feel puzzled.

"Young Madam, hurry, or the milk will get cold, and it'll be a waste of the Young Master's kindness."

Sister Ping urged again.

Her Young Master had always been very cold, she knew that the arrangement was originally for the Wen Family's eldest son to marry. But later it became the Second Young Master. At the time, the Second Young Master barely stayed at home, clearly indicating his disfavor towards this marriage. Yet this morning, the Young Master seemed to be in a really good mood and specifically instructed her to make sure the Young Madam drank that glass of milk.

The breakfast was simple, toasted bread, milk, eggs, with some added fruits.

"Sister Ping, this milk tastes very strange, you know."

Wen Nuan drank the milk, finding that the deeper she drank, the more peculiar the taste became, with some bitterness but also the aroma of honey.

"Is it?"

Sister Ping was tidying up the kitchen and replied offhandedly: "The Young Master just switched to a new brand of milk, afraid you might not like it, so he added some honey. I checked the date, it's new."

**

Weird milk, why such a taste? Frankly, Leng Yan is not a good person, oh oh oh, at least that's what Guoguo currently thinks.
