Excuse, excuse! I'm not sure what to say, why didn't I think about this before hand!? Ugh, I'm such an idiot, if this was a game, my intelligence stat would currently be in the negatives.
Ok, super bullshit time it is.
"I did my research, a friend of mine told me you closed down the gym due to the tourist who came to Cinnabar Island, or rather you moved it since the gym was still listed amongst the eight main Kanto gyms on the leagues offical page." I started off.
"So I did check again to make sure, and it said you're still listed as being on Cinnabar Island, so I put some things together, I figured that perhaps you liked some irony, so I moved to climb the volcano, and I was right, the area was forbidden to climb, psychch Pokémon of great strength protecting the area, that level could only imply the gym was in the area, and full irony would mean the volcano was the gym." I took a deep breath, man I was doing good at this lying thing, while good here, says a lot about my life…
"Finally, I figured that you'd scout out your challengers instead of them going to you, so I looked up recent photos of you at events and any online presence I could find. However you wouldn't just wander around as Blaine, no you'd be disguised, so I memorized you as best I could, age lines, the small burn scar on your face and the body size and height." I said, and it wasn't what I did, but I was capable of doing something like that with some effort.
"Wow, youngsters these days are getting scarier. After all that effort, I'll be sure to give you a great gym battle." Blaine said grinning widely and I let the battle lust show on my face.
"I'm always ready to throw down, as are my pokemon." I was ready to feel my heart beating rapidly in excitement of a good battle. Fire types pack a punch, only behind dragons.
Fire was fire after all.
"Good answer, now how many badges do you have?" Blaine asked as he typed in a computer and signed in.
"I have four badges." I answered as he nodded and typed something in before the wall flipped beside the computer showing six empty pokeball spots and tapped something before three pokeballs appeared in the spot.
"Alright then, five badge battle, three pokemon for each of us. Also if your curious, this system teleports the pokeballs here from their storage spot at my home on the island in case the volcano chooses to erupt or something causes it erupt." Blaine explained and I nodded in understanding.
Thinking on it, my choice for battling here was actually quite limited. Koraidon can easily grip the stone pillars that is the field. Haunter can float through them and fly around. Eevee would definitely struggle here. Lapras can't freeze the magma, so I'm limited to Koraidon and Haunter. Plus I don't want to throw Lapras in such a hot environment, though I think it's only fair that I give Lapras a chance here.
He does deserve a chance to prove him, especially since the next gym will be a lot tougher for him and a big type disadvantage unlike here where he's a mix of not very effective and super effective.
Oh well, we ball.
"Eevee, come on out. You won't be battling today, so you'll be watching." I said as I let Eevee out as she stretched and nodded before she followed us along at me feet.
"You already thought of your teams use in that moment. Rarely do trainers do so." Blaine complimented and I smiled at him, a normal one, and thanked him, because after all, common sense said that you should prepare yourself, I didn't do that.

A few minutes later of riding an elevator up we reached the top of the volcano and both of us took our spots across from each other.
"This is a fifth gym badge battle between Gym Leader Blaine and Raven Inanis. Three Pokemon on each side, only the challenger may substitute. Gym leader sends out first." The referee called out and Blaine grabbed one of his pokeballs and out came-
"Flareon!"
"Flareon huh, I guess a sixth badge battle would start with a Ninetails probably for drought." I mumbled before I grabbed my choice.
"Lapras come on out!" Guess it's time for my newest member to get used to battles of gym quality.
"Battle begin!" The referee called out.
"[Growl] and [Scary Face]." Blaine started off strong and I can respect that.
"[Growl] into [Sing]." I returned with a smile. Blaine took action immediately with a curse. He's lucky Lapras doesn't know the most annoying move he can learn yet, ima work on it though.
"Move out of the way using [Quick Attack]!"
"Lapras, use [Water Pulse]." I wanted a tester on how this would go, so it's testing time.
Lapras fired off the [Water Pulse], Flareons speed ensured it was avoided, but I did notice how quickly the water dried up in the attack, so it was going to be like this eh?
Alright, let try this then.
"[Ice Beam] on the pillars, make yourself a ice rink!" I ordered and Lapras rapid fired off a few ice beams before he started skating along them. I knew this was a good idea in training, who said lowered speed meant anything.
Lava apperently, as I noticed how quick the ice was melting.
"[Fire Spin]!" Blaine ordered as Flareon shot off some fire at Lapras.
"Counter with [Brine]!" I ordered in return as Lapras happily did so as he skated around the melting ice with a little trouble.
The two attacks hit each other and made mist.
"Move out of the way and use-"
Lapras fired off a [Water Pulse] that smacked into Flareon who wasn't prepared for that. Teaching your Pokemon to attack on their own is a very useful skill. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise kids.
"[Rain Dance]!" I ordered and Lapras skidded to a stop just as the ice pieces started breaking apart. Flareon started falling down, but managed to latch onto a piece of a pillar and hopped onto the top of it with a glare aimed forward.
"Flareon! Flare!"
"Lapras! Lapr! RAS!"
Oh trash talk, welp [Rain Dance] was done, so it was time for the games to begin.
"Lapras, hit them with a [Sparkling Aria]!"
"Counter with [Lava Plume]!"
Lapras burst into song as a metric fuck ton of bubbles flew towards Flareon who released an inferno of burning hot flames all around.
Both attacks hit each other, but Lapras kept singing and sending more bubbles out, and with the rain boosting the attack, he won out and Flareon was hit full power by the attack and knocked out as he fell towards the lava.
"Flareon return." Blaine ordered as he recalled his Pokemon.
"Point challenger!" The referee called out as Blaine tossed out his second Pokemon. Immediately the rain disappeared and a drought of heat came.
"Lapras [Life Dew]!"
"Ninetails, [Flamethrower]." Blaine called out calmly as the giant burst of flames slammed into Lapras who called out in pain, but held on. [Life Dew] healing what it was able too.
"Lapras use [Surf] into [Ice Beam]!" I ordered and I wanted to see the results of this attack. Lapras rose up from his stone pillar and the entire wave of water started freezing.
"Ninetails use [Fire Blast]!" Blaine called out and let my eyes widen momentarily as I quickly decided to change it up.
"Lapras quickly into [Giga Impact]! Use the ice to boost your speed!" I ordered as Lapras sung a quiet song as he flew down the now frozen ice wave.
I watched with baited breath as he slammed into the [Fire Blast] at full speed, then I heard a cry and I knew what the result was. Thank you Lapras.
"Point Gym Leader!" The referee called out as the smoke cleared out and it showed Lapras unconscious on a pillar, Ninetails nearby stood with a limp.
"Return." I called out as I held his pokeball forward and the red beam hit Lapras before he was back into his pokeball. "Well done Lapras, you did very good." I whispered softly as the ball shook for a moment before sitting still.
"Haunter, game time." I said as my shadow expanded out and Haunter cackled as he rose out of it with his now apparently signature shades. He tossed them inside his mouth as he moved forward to prepare for battle.
"Battle begin!"
"[Shadow Ball]." I called out in a moment and Haunter launched his attack forward at Ninetails who lept out the way. "Repeat fire." I added on as Haunter cackled as he started firing them off.
"Keep dodging and use [Nasty Plot] and then [Flamethrower]." Blaine ordered quickly.
"[Disable]." I tried not to let the smugness roll off of me for that. No more of that for a bit of time, and any [Fire Blast] would drain Ninetails energy too much at this level.
"Kakakaka." Haunter cackled as he moved through the ground of a pillar to avoid the [Flamethrower] as he used his [Disable].
"Well done youngster, but don't think tht will impede us." Blaine called out with a smile and I narrowed my eyes recalling the moves a Ninetails can learn.
"Haunter into the ground now!" I ordered at the same time as Blaine said "[Flame Wheel]!"
Haunter just in time dashed into the ground as Ninetails soared over where he was in a fiery ball.
"Haunter play hide and seek while using [Toxic]." I needed time to think on this.
Haunter was a power based mon, he can definitely take a hit, but even he would struggle if hit by a [Nasty Plot] powered [Flamethrower] or [Fire Blast]. So I need to focus-
"Haunt!" I focused while cursing myself as Haunter cried out. A [Quick Attack] boosted [Flame Wheel] had slammed into Haunter. Thankfully it was a physical based move, but it still did good damage.
"Haunter, [Dark Ball]!" I ordered and Haunter floated back up as our own custom move came to life. A [Shadow Ball] with the properties of a [Dark Pulse]. We should probably test it out to figure out what type it technically counts as.
The typing will most likely be dark type due to its name and appearance, but can never be to-
"[Fire Blast]." Blaine ordered as Ninetails appeared in front of the [Dark Ball] completely dodging it.
"HAUNTER COUNTER IT!" I yelled out, and even as Haunter was charging up what seemed like another [Dark Ball], he was hit by the move and his own move exploded on himself.
"Haunter!" He tried to get back up, but this wasn't the time. I fucked up. This was my fault.
"I forfeit Haunter." I said as I recalled him. "I'm sorry, you paid for my mistakes."
"Point Gym Leader!"
"I think I understand it now. The gyms are just a place to prove your power, but to teach lessons." I said with a laugh as I grabbed my final pokeball.
"Correct! It seems you understand it now. The first four gyms will test your power and basic strategies, but afterwards, we will test your power, mind and bond! So have you learn the lesson?" Blaine asked with a wide smile.
I did, thank you Blaine, perhaps it's time to stop thinking so much, and trust in my Pokemon and our knowledge of each other.
"Koraidon, it's time for some prehistoric power!" I called out as I let her out and she came out with a powerful roar.
"KORADION!"
"Oh boy." Blaine said with a grin and I grinned in return. I had been getting arrogant, thinking I was strong enough for the gyms.
I wasn't, I was taught my lesson. After this, I think I need to spend some time mingling with my Pokemon. Just deep understanding between us all.
"Blaine, I hope you're ready." I called out as I locked eyes with Koraidon and she immediately took action.
Verbal words weren't needed.
[Bulk Up] and [Agility] were used in sync as she grew stronger, tougher and faster.
"Smack them." I said and she charged forward at Ninetails and hit them with a solid and painful [Dragon Tail] to the face.
Ouch.
"Koraidon!" She roared out in victory as the fainted Ninetails could be seen indented into the ground, Koraidon standing proudly roaring.
Blaine returned his pokemon as Koraidon returned to the pillar closest to and in front of me. What a good girl.
"Come on out, Magmar." Blaine said and I hummed, but didn't let me thoughts wonder off. I needed to stay focused.
"Battle begin!"
"Battle form!" I called out, and Koraidon changed her form. I needed to take these things seriously.
"[Scary Face] into [Smokescreen]!" Blaine ordered.
"Get rid of that wind!" I called out as Koraidon's head wings appeared and flapped hard as she took into the sky momentarily. Just in time too as Magmar came flying through the smokescreen with a [Low Kick].
"Smash into them." I ordered as Koraidon flew down with a [Body Press]. She slammed into Magmar who flew into the lava. Koraidon latched onto a pillar and watched the lava around her, she knew her opponent wouldn't go down so easily.
"Hm, your bond is very strong, perhaps some of the best I've seen in a while, your power is also very strong for how early you are in your journey, but don't discount us yet." Blaine said as he yelled out "[LAVA PLUME]!"
Suddenly the lava below flew up as a wave of lava heated flames flew towards Koraidon, all condensed unlike their normally all around style.
"Dodge them." I said as Koraidon lept up with a [Agility] regaining her usual speed and avoiding the flames entirely.
"[Flame Wheel]!" An so came Blaine's next command for Magmar who came flying out the lava in a wheel of flames.
"Send them back down to nap, [Body Slam] into [Collision Course]!" I responded with much more power. I'm generous like that.
"Magmar!" Blaine called out and then suddenly Magmar was teleported besides Blaine.
A teleported pokemon not using the move their self means it is counted as defeated. The well trained gym psychic pokemon register it as such.
"Winner challenger!" The referee called out and Koraidon roared to the heavens proclaiming her victory. I grinned at her as she lept her way over to me gently and hugged me and I returned it.
What a good girl she is.

Volcano Badge, acquired.
Now I've been thinking, and someone, a commenter or reviewer, can't remember which honestly, said that he was just flying through this, super fast paced, and they are correct.
Raven has had power and knowledge to let him coast through the beginning, however now he's going to start fighting people who can hit in his power bracket and not he overwhelmed. Even with Koraidon he will struggle sooner rather then later.
You know who you are, so thank you for letting me notice this.
Also another person commented lack of background and similar elements, and they are correct, so I'm going to try and work on that, so thank you for that.
Also soon the team will also start getting their own personalities, they're gonna get screen time.
Anyway, I gotta end these notes here, works calling lol.
Bye~
