Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: A Blow to HYDRA

The night was alive with the sound of war.

From the rooftop of the HYDRA intelligence facility, Alexander watched as their forces mobilized below. Armored vehicles screeched into position, floodlights casting sharp beams into the darkness. Helicopters hovered overhead, their rotors slicing through the air like ominous war drums. The entire area had been locked down—HYDRA wasn't just retaliating. They were trying to eradicate him.

Alexander smirked. Let them try.

His shadows writhed around him, eager for the coming slaughter. Vasili and Noctis stood at his flanks, their abyssal forms blending into the night. Strauss, once a proud HYDRA commander, now a servant of the abyss, awaited his king's command with unwavering loyalty.

From below, an amplified voice rang out. "Alexander Carter! You are surrounded! Surrender, and your death will be swift!"

Alexander raised an eyebrow. "They still think I'm someone they can threaten?"

Vasili exhaled softly. "Their arrogance blinds them."

Alexander turned to Noctis. "Find their command center. I want their leaders alive."

Noctis vanished without a word, his form dissolving into the abyss.

Strauss stepped forward. "They have brought their elite unit. The 'Vanguard.'"

Alexander's smirk deepened. "And?"

Strauss's glowing eyes remained locked on the battlefield. "The Vanguard is HYDRA's answer to super-soldiers. Enhanced combatants. Highly trained. Equipped with experimental technology meant to neutralize enhanced threats."

Alexander rolled his shoulders. "Good. I was hoping for a challenge."

The moment he stepped forward, HYDRA opened fire.

The first wave came with precision—high-caliber anti-enhancement rounds, energy-based weaponry, and sonic disruptors designed to disable supernatural threats.

Alexander moved like a wraith, weaving between the bullets, his shadows absorbing and dispersing energy-based attacks like an endless abyss. A soldier charged him, wielding a plasma blade, but before he could swing, Vasili appeared behind him—his dagger flashing once, and the man collapsed, lifeless.

From the left, a Vanguard operative in an exo-suit lunged forward, his gauntlet crackling with contained energy. He threw a punch that could shatter steel—Alexander caught it with one hand.

The force sent a shockwave rippling through the air, but Alexander didn't budge. His grip tightened, shadows surging up the operative's arm, consuming flesh and metal alike. The man screamed as the abyss took him, his body disintegrating into pure nothingness.

A second Vanguard operative came at him, faster than a normal human, enhanced with HYDRA's latest bioengineering experiments. The soldier's movements were fluid, efficient, and inhumanly strong.

Alexander smirked. This one might be fun.

They clashed in a blur of speed. The soldier's strikes were calculated, refined—HYDRA's training program at its peak. But Alexander was something beyond human combat training. He danced between attacks, countering with shadow-infused strikes that shattered reinforced armor.

The operative growled, activating an energy field around his body, designed to repel supernatural forces. The moment Alexander's fist connected, an energy backlash exploded outward, forcing him a few steps back.

For a moment, the soldier smirked. Then Alexander laughed.

Shadows surged from his feet, wrapping around the operative's legs like living chains. The man tried to resist, but the abyss cared nothing for technology or super-soldier enhancements. His body was dragged downward, his scream echoing before the darkness swallowed him whole.

Noctis moved like a silent storm through the facility's lower levels. The command center was locked down, surrounded by reinforced barriers and automated defense turrets. It didn't matter.

The first guard didn't see him. The second barely had time to scream before Noctis's blade severed his throat. The third tried to run.

Noctis let him.

The guard rushed into the command room, panting. "We're under atta—"

His words died as the shadows followed him.

Noctis stepped into the command center, a ghost among men. The HYDRA officers scrambled for weapons, but it was futile. The abyss coiled around the room, suffocating all light, cutting off any hope of escape.

One of the officers gasped. "W-What do you want?"

Noctis tilted his head, amused. "My king requires an audience."

Then the darkness surged, and screams filled the air.

By the time Alexander entered the command center, the battle outside was over.

HYDRA's forces in this facility had been crushed. But this was just one of many HYDRA installations across the world. The organization was vast, spanning multiple hidden locations, and this was merely one part of their network.

Alexander's violet gaze swept over the trembling HYDRA officers. "You are no longer leaders," he said, voice calm but absolute. "You are pawns."

One of them, a higher-ranking commander, snarled. "You think we'll serve you? We are HYDRA. We endure."

Alexander crouched before him, smirking. "No. You crawl."

His hand touched the man's forehead, and the abyss consumed him. When the shadows receded, he too knelt, his eyes glowing violet, his will no longer his own.

The remaining officers broke. Some begged for mercy, others swore loyalty out of fear. Alexander let them live—not as free men, but as tools.

HYDRA was not gone. This was just a fraction of their reach. While he had shattered this base and taken its resources, the true heads of HYDRA still lurked in the shadows.

Strauss stepped forward. "What are your orders?"

Alexander turned toward the massive HYDRA database still intact, its servers holding decades of intelligence, secret projects, and hidden assets.

His smirk returned. "We take everything."

Within hours, the intelligence world buzzed with whispers of HYDRA's unprecedented collapse in Midtown Manhattan.

Nick Fury received classified reports. SHIELD now had confirmation that something far more dangerous than HYDRA existed in the shadows. The underworld trembled. Criminal empires—Kingpin, The Hand, AIM—realized that a new predator was rising.Inside HYDRA, an unseen figure watched. A surviving leader, perhaps Baron Zemo or someone even more dangerous, was already planning.

HYDRA had suffered a great loss, but they were not gone. Alexander had won this battle, but the war was far from over.

As he stood overlooking the ruins of HYDRA's former stronghold, he exhaled slowly, letting the abyss settle once more.

He had won.

But this was just the beginning.

The Marvel world was now his playground.
