Chapter 5 - system (3)

Nova's POV

After calming down, a sigh escaped my lips as I stared at the glowing blue screen before me.

"At least I have a system," I muttered to myself, trying to find some comfort in that thought.

Taking a deep breath, I focused on the interface hovering in front of me.

"I assume you can't change your type?" I asked, already guessing the answer.

[ Yes, I cannot change my type. ]

"Alright then… tell me your features in detail."

[ System must first complete full binding with the host. ]

[ Bind now? Yes / No ]

There was no hesitation. I selected Yes.

A golden light engulfed me, wrapping around my body like threads of energy. I felt like my soul was getting merge with something powerful. The sensation wasn't painful, just… intense. And then, just as quickly as it started, the glow faded.

[ Binding complete. ]

[ Host has gained access to: Status, Shop, Compensation Package, and Chat Group Invitation functions. ]

Ignoring the text that appeared in front of me, I flexed my fingers, testing my body's condition. Nothing seemed different. No sudden burst of power.

"I have a few questions," I muttered, "but first… show me my status."

The screen changed, and a new interface appeared before me—displaying my personal data. My eyes scanned the details, pausing longer on some than others.

I nodded to myself as I read through the list. My so-called "Unique Skills" were laughably useless, and the rest? Not bad, but nothing overwhelming—not for someone who had transmigrated to another world. My stats were almost embarrassing.

But… that was expected.

For years, I had wondered why I couldn't use or communicate with my own skills the way others did. Every time I tried, it felt like screaming into the void—empty, cold, and unyielding.

And now, finally, I understood why.

"...Because I'm cursed, huh?" I whispered, not even surprised.

So the Voice of the World itself had rejected me. No wonder my connection to the system and my abilities had always felt off.

But that led to another question.

"Then why am I so strong? And why is the other person who reincarnated in this world not affected by this? Why am I considered an Outsider, but not him?"

I wasn't just strong for a human—I was on Hinata's level, capable of going toe-to-toe with beings most would call monsters in this time. And I had done it all without any proper Unique Skill. The fact that I could even use skills at all was a mystery in itself.

Then the system responded.

[ Host's soul is many times stronger than even all True Dragons combined, including Rimuru. ]

I froze.

"...What?"

That… didn't make sense.

Stronger than the True Dragons? The apex of existence in this world? Even Rimuru, who could destroy the entire world in a blink?

No. That couldn't be. It sounded like delusion. But then again… wasn't that always the story for characters like me?

"…Guess I really am the protagonist-type, huh?"

I chuckled bitterly.

"And what about my second question—why isn't the other reincarnator affected like me?"

[ It will create too much confusion if explained now. Let's save that for last. For now, ask any other questions you may have. ]

I nodded, letting it go—for now.
