Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: An Angel

It was hard to breath.

Each breath sent a razor like feeling through his chest, still he continued to shake the makeshift box. It's prisoner screaming in uncomfortable agony. Japheth clutched at the the compact box and shook it violently.

Sometimes slamming it into the floor multiple times.

Gilgamesh couldn't take the constant and unpredictable movement. Each time his body would slam into every available area, his brain rattled.

"Give up Old Man!" Japheth roared, blood leaked from his mouth. "I'll stop if you give up."

"Your not long for this world.!" Gilgamesh screamed from his prison. "I have endured much, how long will you last?!"

"You wanna find out?!"

The walls contracted through the uncomfortable dilemma, ensuring to take away any available space. He was surrounded by dirt, it was enclosing tightly.

"Damn you!" Gilgamesh's mouth filled with dirt.

"Give up!" Japheth didn't stop slamming him into the ground. "Or else you'll eat all of this."

Fear hasn't been in the heart of Gilgamesh for many years, even when fighting beings of literal chaos he held strong.

This was the first time he felt death coming closer than usual.

"I give up!" Came a muffled scream.

The attack stopped.

Upon being released, Gilgamesh fell on his head and began to vomit sand.

"Wasn't to hard was it?"

"The winner is Japheth!" Mary Ann announced from the tower.

The colosseum shouted, not in praises but in agony.

"I bet my rent on that old geezer..." Someone muttered in disbelief.

"King of fist my butt!" Another added his complaint.

"He won..." Yuri dropped his handkerchief. He shuffled through the unpleasant atmosphere, leaving the white cloth behind. Yuri stumbled towards the fighter's gates, looking at his heavily injured warrior.

Japheth's body was supported by the bronze brick walls, he took shallow breaths as any large one wud bring an abnormal amount of pain.

"I... I need some help..." He tumbled forward, but was thankfully caught by Yuri.

"I'll... I'll take you back."

Yuri placed Japheth's arm over his shoulder and took them back to their dorm.

He placed Japheth in the bed and inspected the severity of his injuries.

"It's a miracle your alive right now, your entire ribcage is destroyed..."

Japheth chuckled.

While fighting Gilgamesh and taking that attack, Japheth felt his lungs being pierced by pierced. It was becoming harder to breath, as each breath brought a wave of pain that he couldn't fathom.

""I... I might not see my friends again." His weak strained.

Yuri bowed his head.

"Japheth... I thank you for your hard work." He went into the hallways, unable to look at the young man's life cut short.

Two minutes later a figure emerged from the door.

Her dark blue dress glided across the floor towards a barely conscious Japheth. Grey eyes looked upon him sadly.

"What a terrible fate you've met." Mary Ann sighed. "To have your soul taken and used for works beyond your power. Worry not young Japheth..." From her pale hands came a large blade, it's silver edges glistened in the light of the rising sun. "For this brief moment of your life, I will give you peace." She came closer readying to end his life.

Japheth opened his eyes.

"An Angel?" He wheezed.

"A... What?" She lowered her weapon.

"Where I'm from... When a person dies a beautiful woman known as an angel would take them to heaven." He chuckled even with the now numbing pain. "Who would have known they would be this gorgeous." He fell unconscious.

"Me... Beautiful?" She looked at him.

Mary Ann was called countless things, by both enemies and allies. Yet, no one has once told the queen of her looks. Her sword disappeared, she touched his forehead and and began healing him.

"Your majesty?"

She jumped.

"Creighton?!" Mary Ann gasped.

"You... Healed him?" Her butler stood in the doorway.

"It..." Mary Ann regained her composure. "It has nothing to do with you." Ice creapt from her commanding tone.

"... Yes your majesty..." Creighton left, his brow furrowed at such strange events.

The streets of Brigaden was losing it's busy atmosphere, among them was Joshua, Misery and Evelyn the three travelled back to the inn. The two girls enjoyed a candied apple, while Joshua's face was twisted in anger.

"I can't believe you cried because of your bet on Japheth." Joshua snarled. His movements nearly threw his glasses to the cobblestone ground.

"Oh, quiet down." Misery laughed. "You bet on him too, didn't you?"

"I believed in him." Joshua stopped counting the money in his wallet. "Have you two decided what you want to eat yet?"

"With this bag of gold, I'd want some steak." Misery turned to Evelyn. "How about some steak, Evelyn?"

She nodded.

"But me and Joshua don't know where they have the best food." Misery gave an over exaggerating sigh.

Evelyn sputtered searching for an answer.

"Uh... Um..." Finally an answer arose. "There's one place but..."

"No buts." Joshua interrupted. "We're technically millionaires." He smiled at the four large bags he and Misery held onto.

Evelyn guided the them. Claiming that the only restaurant that even the Queen enjoys is near the castle.

Brigaden splits itself, the poor reside within the outer walls of the city. Near the center are the ones whose nobility rise high above the common folks.

Joshua noticed the change in scenery. The refined homes became noble in structure. Instead of the rough walls of either cobblestone or wood. It was as if the sides of these homes were polished to such a smooth vertical degree.

Even pillars were aligned along a few of the homes.

"Your afraid of the rich?" He pointed out.

Evelyn stopped, she quaked a bit under the street lamp.

"Duke eats there..."

Nobles of Brigaden dine in the only restaurant that they deemed worthy, and financially, enough for them to eat.

The Golden Garden has been a spot where only the weather reside. From the sights of the goldenware for eating, to its spectacular display of both food and service. This should deter the unwanted guest whose pockets couldn't afford the appetizers within such a place.

The Queen has her own table there, Creighton eats beside her listening to the gossip of many. His right eye turned towards Mary Ann beside him. "She actually healed someone..." He thought.

Mary Ann couldn't eat, her mind still replayed Japheth's words to her.

"A beautiful angel..." She smiled.

"Even if you have immortality, starvation is still painful." Creighton pointed at her steak dinner.

Instead of agreeing, Mary Ann played with the rice grains. "Am I beautiful, Creighton?"

Before the flabbergasted butler can answer the question, his attention was drawn towards the entrance/exit of Goldens Gardens.

Another oddity today as the ones entering were commoners.
