Zara blinked hard, trying to push back the tears that blurred her vision.
She yanked her hands out of Ethan's grip. "Why, Ethan? Why would you betray me like this?"
Ethan chuckled—a dry, mocking sound that made her stomach twist. "I warned you, didn't I?" he said, leaning back with a scoff. "But because you were some big-shot's daughter, you thought you could do whatever you wanted."
Zara's breath caught in her throat. She tried to steady it, but the tightness in her chest only grew.
"Ethan, your dad is suing me because he's listed as the legal parent of our kids. Do you even understand what that means?"
Ethan shrugged and leaned back into his chair. "Yeah, so?"
Zara's heart sank. Her body went still as the truth hit her like a slap. "So you knew…" she whispered, her voice shaky. "You let your dad sign the birth certificates. And you still call yourself their father?"
