Chapter 4
I slowly approached her, my hands coming to a rest on her shoulders, and a soft yet exhausted sigh getting past my lips.
"Is it the bills again?" I asked, papers had already flooded the table, and my mother spoke no word.
She looked weak… weaker than usual but still retained her beauty.
"It's fine." Mother's voice came out soft, pleading like mine, before her hands held mine, a smile that wished it didn't come on came, and a glance over her shoulder. "You came back quite early… why?"
"Oh…" I pulled my hands back and drew out a sit. "We didn't have much to take… Lucky."
Charlotte Reigns… my mother, and my best friend, her hair that was once fully blonde already carried shades of grey on them, and her body looked like she hadn't eaten well, lips dried out, and bags were under her eyes. I looked up at her, my hands taking hers.
"Is there anything you'd like to eat." She chuckled, a sniff coming next.
"If you would." I tried to wear on a smile, but it didn't just sit right with me, I couldn't bring myself to wear a fake smile when she had that look on.
"Right." I got up, and went into my room, coming-out in a matter of seconds with newly changed clothes, and a packed up hair.
My phone buzzed, and it was a loud ring, I opened it and saw a message.
I had been invited to a Group chat? Clearly this was Ivy's doing, I thought before sliding the phone back into my pocket.
But then it rang again… this time with more and more text messages, I decided to open them, and luckily got news of the. "Up-coming party?" My brows cocked.
Surely she had something up her sleeves… the sudden invite? And now a mysterious party? For what reason did she throw it? For fun? Ha! I wasn't going to fall for it.
But… I looked at the message again, there was someone that was going to be there… someone I had my eyes on for a long time.
Nathan…
"Are you done?" my mother's voice sounded from behind me, and I quickly tucked the device away into my pocket, turning with a panicked smile.
"I'm sorry, I got a little distracted."
I was now so going to that party, one way or the other.

As I found myself sorting through my closet, I realized I didn't have anything that particularly matched with the elegant, and soft party, my closet mainly held long jeans, and baggy tops.
"Gosh." I sighed, eyes closing and lips parting slightly.
This was a disaster… mainly more, I didn't have the money to get such Fancy clothes.
I wept out my phone from the back of my pocket and pulled up few dresses…
Ah… they were so beautiful, unfortunately… they were for the rich.
I shut the screen and flipped onto my bed… maybe some day later I'd go hunting.
Someday? The party was happing soon, obviously I didn't have time for 'Someday' I scoffed.
Was I doing all this for some boy? Some boy I really had my eyes on since the first grade of school.
I got up from my bed… it was still early, I could find a dress cheap now.

As I walked past a dress shop, I couldn't help but stop and admire the beautiful dress they displayed.
It was bright red, and crossed at the neck, a parting to the left, and two pairs of earrings attached to the side of it… now that was a dress I was willing to get, but… the amount was a little much.
It was ranging a Thousand dollars, and that was from the dress alone, there had been shoes and the necklace and many more, but all needed was the dress, the dress that seemed to fit perfectly in my reflection as I turned to face the glass.
"Beautiful right?" Someone spoke from behind me, and yet another reflection showed behind me.
"Sorry?" My brows knitted as I turned.
"The dress I mean."
"Yes… and?" The person chuckled at my defensive act, and pushed the door open.
"why don't you come in." My eyes held suspiciousness as I followed the woman inside.
Clearly she didn't know I had no penny on me… but heck! Play along to the rich life.
I followed her to the counter and she took her place in front.
"Now… what would you like?"
I chuckled. "I was only but admiring the dress."
"Ah…" Her expression changed in an instant, and I saw the look she used to scan my outfit, that clearly wasn't the dress a rich man's daughter would wear.
"Do you plan to wear it for something?"
"I was going to wear it to a party, but the cost is a little over my budget."
Her expression eased and she fixed her posture. "Right… how about I give it to you just for the night? Maybe later in the morning you'd bring it back?"
"What?" I asked while being surprised, she didn't en know me and yet she offered it to me like it was nothing.
Then again, even if I was to run away with a dress like that It didn't seem like it would do a dent to them.
But since she offered… "I'd take it."

The were flashing lights, people were dancing few holding drinks in their hands while others sat.
This was the other side of Ivy's party… the more rough side.
"Nabie." She called and my eyes nearly rolled.
What could she possibly want t from me.
"Nice dress you've got there." She smiled and I only could return the favor, although it disgusted me.
They suddenly began laughing, the drinks in their hands rolling in circles, and one of Ivy's hand going underneath the other.
But… the crowd wasn't now on her, nor me, but someone else, someone I had been longing to see, Nathan. And he seemed to have brought company. That face looked familiar.
"You've got something on your bag Nabs." Ivy's spoilt voice rang into my ears, making them ache as she spoke, but it was only of a matter of time I was able to realize her words, she had been talking about the tag.
When the nice lady was giving me the dress, she clearly stated to not remove the tag, or else I'd have to pay… and that I didn't have!
Rip!
