Chapter 70 - CHAPTER 70- Holding Back

"What are you doing?"

Xavier's figure brought Edwin out of this intense contemplation gazing at the stars of the sky. From Edwin's room, stars shine brighter than anywhere else in the Wymhold.

"Reading stars," Edwin grumbled, keeping his head raised. Xavier slowly blinked his eyes and gazed in the direction Edwin was gazing.

"Northern Star is rising," he mouthed slowly, and Edwin scowled, looking at him. "You know how to read stars and constellations?"

Xavier nodded and inclined to one side, "Having a dragon status has its own special kind of power."

Edwin furrowed his brow and snickered. Edwin pushed Xavier away and walked up to Naeson, who lay unconscious.

"Must be so great to be a dragon~." Edwin taunted, but Xavier didn't say anything. Edwin checked Naeson's pulse, which was normal; nonetheless, he was unable to comprehend why Naeson still couldn't wake up.

The silence of the room caused Edwin to pucker up his face, and he looked in the direction of Xavier. Xavier's eyes were blank of any kind of emotion; his usual, mysterious eyes weren't sparkling as usual; they were instead probing for something intangible among the stars.

Edwin knew Xavier was mistaken.

"What is it? Why do you look at the stars like you're hunting for something?"

Xavier stared at Edwin for no particular reason, but he was not hiding his tense face either.

"I am."

"Huh?"

"I am searching for something, Tower Master."

Edwin felt uneasy with Xavier's stern face and heavy words. He did not want to pry further into Xavier's business, but he also could not just let him struggle with confusion when he promised Selentia to protect him.

He took a deep breath and nodded. "Tell me what it is that's getting you tight."

Xavier blinked his eyelids, clearly thinking about whether or not he should inform Edwin.

Before he could open his lips to utter any word, he heard the voice of the forest within his mind once more.

"Don't think of doing anything silly, kid." Belhier's voice was merciless and devoid of any form of mercy. Xavier's eyes rejoiced.

"I am within you, and you are within me. Do you plan to kill yourself just to kill me?" Belhier sneered ruthlessly, "Don't tell me you don't wish to spend some romantic moments with the descendant of Lunaria?"

Xavier's eyes poked out, and he grunted angrily, "Shut the fuck up! There is nothing like that between us."

Edwin stared at Xavier in confusion.

"Aww, yes, yes! Human brains never realize they have been obsessed with someone until it lays eyes on the person leaving," Belhier mocked Xavier, and he rolled his eyes in frustration.

"OI!"

Xavier scowled at Edwin and shook his head. "Nothing. I'm sleeping. Starting tomorrow, prepare me a position which will be able to handle my power and sword strikes."

Edwin stood up in wonder and yelled in frustration, "IS THIS A JOKE, YOU CRAZY MADMAN! WHERE SHALL I OPEN AN ESTABLISHMENT THAT WILL WITHSTAND YOUR RULE?"

Xavier moved his head to the side and looked at him with a demeanor of unconcern. "Do not be so dramatic. Open up a portal if you have to."

Edwin could sense his neck throb at the back of his head; he clutched his head and cursed some foul words in the direction of Xavier.

"Just what was my transgression that I found myself caught up with that son of a. Ha! I loathe dragons; I actually loathe dragons!"

Xavier stepped out of Edwin's study and looked back over his shoulder at the door. He let out a sigh and started walking towards his assigned room on the 30th floor.

The floor in front of Edwin's research room were built using multicolored magic stone that shinned with different colors whenever an individual walks over them based on the aura or the mana of the individual.

Standing at Xavier's feet dark purple, lilac, golden light flowed gracefully, Xavier never bothered to exploit those colors.

On walking, his eyes fell upon the evening sky.

Stars in Sian were more luminous than anywhere else due to the fact that mages cast magic in the sky to avoid clouds from happening most of the time. He blinked his eyes and spinning his feets towards the open window facing the view in front of him.

" Clouds of misfortune is shrouding the sky," Belhier's words were resonating at the back of Xavier's mind.

" I know." Xavier answered in a soothing tone.

" You are going to war, aren't you? Tell me, Tell Me." Belhier's urgency in her words infuriated Xavier.

" You are as worse as the screpture portrayed you to be," Xavier hissed coldly. Belhier laughed and replied haughtily, " What's wrong with being bad?"

Xavier clenched his fist, there was seething rage inside him which had been dumbing him since he learned about Belhier's existance within him.

The tempting words of Belhier, exhilarated him and he hated that. He hated the manner in which Belhier's offers were shaking him.

" In this world, the powerful one will rule. That's the law and that's the law." Belhier's voice was harsh and commanding, Xavier could sense that instinctively.

Even though Belhier's current existence within him was way behind his original self but the control he still had in that situation was too immense even if Edwin and Sylvester team up to kill Belhier.

" You are not wrong. It is nature of the world, strong ones will reign over the weaker one or else the order of the world will collapse." Xavier replied with a calm tone.

"Aww, it seems like you don't live up to being as great as you pretentiously boast in front of the heir of Lunaria," Belhier's sneer echoed Xavier's mind, he still couldn't handle the idea that the worse evil, the demon lord whom the demons had been trying to unseal for millennia was within him.

Xavier was aware that Belhier could hear and see all that he observed, he could also hear everything that Xavier had said in his mind.

" Weren't you imprisoned somewhere in the universe?" The voice of Xavier grew colder, " What are you doing inside me, Belhier?"

" Uff, such hostality! Shall I tell you or not?" Belhier laughs and Xavier quietly drew out a sharp knife attached on his arms and placed on his throat.

" You're threatening to take your own life?" Belhier's grin withered away and gave room to an icily cold tone.

" I don't cherish my life all that much myself, you understand. But I am certain your life is genuinely precious to you," Xavier's tone was interwoven with wicked malice, the hard ruthless smile on his good-looks face only made him even more captivating amidst the moonlit night.

Belhier mocked, " Slick bastard!"

"Throughout last 6500 years, nobody survived through the first phrase of becoming your vassel let alone passing through the next six steps. But I did. My body survived demon lord's seven steps of becoming his vassel, the only variable being that I didn't accept the demonic energy," Xavier touched the knife's pointed tip to his throat, blood started trickling out of the cut.

Belhier remained silent.

" When I finally accepted the demonic power, you somehow managed to insert your concious mind inside me, since we both share the same source of power, isn't it so?" Xavier wickedly smiled.

Belhier teased, his anger and frustration was inevitable.

" How dare you! The first person I will slaughter after I become free that is going to be you."

Xavier cackled and lowered the knife.

" What makes you think that I would allow you to be unsealed, Demon Lord?"

Belhier laughed, " Indeed you don't know me that's why you can say such buffs, even the choosen ones couldn't kill me and ended up just sealing me in the universe."

" The Choosen Ones of past and future aren't same," Xavier said with a calm tone. Belhier laughed, his dark and merciless laugh was hunting.

" Naive little dragon! Past, present and future all are connected. History will be repeated by them who know not or who forget. And history will be changed by them who remembers and learned."

The gaze of Xavier grows cold. From Belhier's sentence he could catch his breath at what he meant.

The mistakes for which he has obtained sealed, he shall never commit again but those destined to vanquish him after 6500 years hence would probably commit the same mistakes which led to the loss of millions of lives.

"Get a hold of yourself, Naive Young Dragon. You are now a half demon the moment you accepted my demonic power. And how long do you think you can resist my temptation? How long do you think you can stifle your hunger for more power, blood and pleasure?" Belhier's words were pleading and logical. Xavier knew it too.

" The second that your mind go weak and you give in to me, I will be unsealed. Take my offer before its too late, or else I will kill you."

Belhier's threat did not work on Xavier. Xavier started walking towards the 30th floor with a pleasent smile on his lips.

" I will be holding back better than you think, Belhier. So, keep dreaming of controlling my body."

Belhier ridicules, " We will see that."
