That was the last thing he wanted for her, to be honest. Thus he chose honesty over comfort and responded in a low tone, "Nothing much other than the fact that he was worried."
She lifted a brow, her eyes unconvinced by his words.
"I am saying the truth. He was worried I might have ulterior motives, just like he did."
The next couple of minutes ran by very quickly as Kiera remained silent for a while. The words Jace had spoken stirred up a whirlwind of emotions within her.
"Kiera?" he called out, wanting to make sure she was okay.
She cleared her throat and managed to regain her composure quickly, assuring Jace, "Do not worry, l'm okay. At the very least he knew he played me dirty. Anyways, I am sure he did this to protect Cristal, Jace."
"Protect her?" Jace furrowed his brow and sat properly.
"How is bashing into us going to protect her?"
"He thinks l'm vindictive, he must be worried that I'll sue Cristal or something."
