Chapter 122: The Escape Route
Liana's voice remained sharp over the comms. "You have less than five minutes before reinforcements breach that section. Get moving!"
Raizen wiped blood from his lip and turned to the others. "We need an exit, now."
Selara nodded, already sprinting toward a side panel. "There's an emergency access hatch this way—it leads to a maintenance tunnel that bypasses the main docking bay."
Kain covered their retreat, firing precise shots at the corridor behind them. Joran, ever the brute, shoved debris behind them to slow any pursuers.
As they reached the hatch, Liana spoke again. "Bad news. The station's control systems have flagged your biosignatures. Security drones are deploying in the tunnels ahead."
Raizen scowled. "Then we'll just have to clear a path."
Navigating the Chaos
The emergency tunnel was tight and dimly lit, the walls slick with condensation and the hum of power conduits vibrating beneath their feet. Raizen led the way, blade in hand, his senses on high alert.
Then, from the darkness—movement.
Three security drones hovered forward, their targeting systems flashing red.
Seraphina stepped forward. A wave of violet energy surged from her hands, frying the first drone's circuitry in an instant.
Joran tackled another, ripping it apart with brute force, while Kain took out the last one with a well-placed shot.
Liana's voice crackled through. "Exit's close, but you have another problem—the docking bay is already crawling with station enforcers."
Raizen cursed. "Selara, tell me you have another trick up your sleeve."
Selara grinned, pulling out a detonator. "I might."
Breaking Through
They reached the docking bay entrance, a heavily fortified checkpoint standing between them and the corvette. Selara placed a charge on the control panel, stepping back as it detonated in a controlled burst.
The doors slammed open, alarms blaring.
And waiting for them? A full squad of station enforcers, weapons ready.
Raizen cracked his neck. "Guess we're not done fighting."
Kain took position. "Not by a long shot."
The final battle for their escape had begun.
