Chapter 13 - CHAP.12: A Night Trip

Once alone, Lucas lay down on his bed, his hands behind his head, and began to think about all the events of the day.

The day having been full of emotions, Lucas began to think about all the announcements his mother had made to him today.

A smile appeared on his lips when he thought back to the announcement where he would become a big brother.

He felt excited and nervous about becoming a big brother, but it only motivated him in his intention to become stronger.

As he began to doze off, a slight noise at his door startled him. He straightened up, intrigued.

"Who is there? He asked, slightly annoyed.

The door opened gently, revealing Dayvon's silhouette, wearing a simple but elegant outfit.

Dayvon looked tired, but a warm smile lit up his face.

"Lucas, I went to see you before going to my apartments. I heard you had a hectic day. "

Lucas got up quickly, happy to see his brother.

"Dayvon! I didn't expect to see you. Come in, sit down. "

Dayvon entered and sat on a chair near Lucas' bed.

"A guard told me everything. So like that, a nobleman looked for problems for you and you settled his account. "

Lucas, surprised by how Dayvon had simplified his day, burst out laughing.

"You managed to summarize my day in such an effective way! "

"But father decided to have me confined for a whole week," he says with a sullen air.

Dayvon laughed and said:

"At least, it's only a slight punishment. "

Lucas sighed and, with a disappointed look, he said:

"I know, but staying in my room for a whole week promises to be boring. "

Dayvon stared carefully at Lucas, then glanced at the window.

Night had fallen, and the light of the capital was twinkling in the distance.

"You know, Lucas, you don't really have to stay locked up here," he said with a smile on his lips.

Lucas raised an eyebrow and, with an intrigued look, he said:

"What do you mean by that, Dayvon? "

Then Dayvon got up from the chair and went to the window of Lucas' room. He opened the curtains saying with a smile on his lips:

"Don't you like to go visit the capital with your big brother? "

"In addition, it will be your first visit to the capital. "

Following his words, Lucas had an amazed face.

"Really? Are you serious? He said with a big smile.

"Why not? ", said Dayvon, shrugging his shoulders slightly with a smile on his lips.

"In addition, I know a place where they serve the best waffles in the kingdom. "

Lucas hesitated for a moment, but a knowing smile appeared on his face.

"How are we going to not get caught? ", he said, staring at Dayvon.

So Dayvon approached Lucas with a smile and said:

"Don't worry, we won't get caught, I'll tell you. "

Lucas leaves out of bed, his excitement growing.

" Okay, let's go. But if we get caught, it's you who will explain everything to father. "

With a smile, Dayvon approached Lucas and began to stroke his head.

"Don't worry, everything will be fine," he said with a smile.

"So, wear a black, simple and light outfit, and wait for me. I will also get ready, "he said, heading for the door and leaving the room.

Lucas quickly began to put on a black, light and discreet outfit, as Dayvon had advised, and he also adjusted his boots.

Lucas was excited about the idea of discovering the capital, but his heart was pounding with a mixture of excitement, because it would be the first time he would set foot outside the castle, and he also feared that his father would catch them during their run.

A few minutes later, Dayvon returned, also dressed in a dark and simple outfit that highlighted his athletic body, with a hooded cape that covered his face.

Then Dayvon looked at Lucas and said:

"Here, wear this. We must not be noticed, "he said, handing her a black cape.

Lucas took the cape that Dayvon had held out to him and wore it.

Then Dayvon began to smile.

"Ready? He asked Lucas with a mischievous smile.

"Ready," Lucas replied while nodding his head.

"Go ahead, follow me," Dayvon said as he walked to the window of Lucas' room.

Dayvon opened the bedroom window and jumped through the window.

"Dayvon! ", says Lucas with a worried look when he saw Dayvon jump through the window. He rushed to the window.

"Dayvon! Are you okay? He said, looking worried and looking at the garden under the window.

"Make less noise, Lucas," said Dayvon, appearing in front of Lucas.

"I was looking at the position of the guards," he said while looking at Lucas who was still in his room.

"Go ahead, jump. I'll catch you," he said confidently.

"You're sure it's okay? Lucas asked with a worried look.

"Come on, go ahead. Don't worry, I'm here," Dayvon said in a reassuring voice.

So Lucas placed himself on his window, closed his eyes and said:

"I hope you'll catch up with me, my brother. After these words, Lucas jumped out of his window.

"You see, I told you I would catch up with you," said Dayvon, having caught up with Lucas.

Then Lucas opened his eyes and jumped directly from Dayvon's arms.

"Hmm, well, now, what direction are we going to take? He asked with an embarrassed look.

Under the light of the moon that shone in the sky, illuminating the garden and its alleys, Dayvon began to mock Lucas and gave him a small blow to the shoulder saying:

"Go ahead, follow me," he said with a smile on his lips.

Dayvon took the lead, walking confidently through the garden paths while avoiding the areas lit by lanterns and watched by guards.

Lucas followed him closely, trying to calm his heartbeat and observing the shadows of the guards who seemed to dance not far from them.

"You look like you've already done this many times," Lucas whispered, trying to get closer to his brother.

Dayvon gave him a knowing look over his shoulder and said:

"I also have my little secrets. "

"Come on, follow me. We arrived soon. "

They soon reached a thick bush at the bottom of the palace courtyard. Dayvon gently spread a few branches of the bush and moved a rock that concealed a small opening.

"Here is our exit door," he says with a smile on his lips.

"Go first," he said, staring at Lucas.

Lucas, amazed by this discovery, sneaked through this opening.

"Since when does such an exit exist? "

Dayvon, who was following him closely, began to laugh silently.

"Always. But this is a secret that only a few insiders know. "

Once on the other side, they found themselves in an empty alley, but in the distance, the various noises of the capital began to be heard: music, laughter, etc.

"We're almost there. Ready to discover some of the wonders of the capital, little brother? Said Dayvon, adjusting his cape.

"More than ready," says Lucas with a radiant smile on his lips.

Then, with the cape that covered their faces, they came out of the empty alley and mingled with the lively crowd of the capital.

Mixing with the animated population of the capital, Lucas began to admire the colorful lanterns that illuminated the streets, as well as all the buildings and shops that adorned the streets.

Arriving in another street, Lucas was surprised to see several displays of merchants and the faces of many passers-by.

Lucas was subdued by everything he saw: the stalls filled with glittering jewels, the tempting smells of the dishes on the displays, and the musicians who played catchy melodies on every street corner.

"It's incredible! ", says Lucas with a big smile and wide eyes.

Dayvon touched his shoulder and said:

"Wait and see, all this is just the beginning. "

"Come on, let's start with the best waffles. "

They then went to a shop on the corner of a busy street.

The sweet aroma of freshly prepared waffles floated in the air, attracting a small crowd of customers.

"Here we are, the best waffle shop in the whole kingdom," he announced proudly.

Lucas looked at the shop, sporting a golden waffle-shaped symbol.

"Wait for me here, I'll be back," said Dayvon as he headed to the shop to order the waffles.

So Lucas began to observe around him, the movements and gestures of others, since it was his first time in the capital, and he wanted to see the habits of the kingdom's subjects.

As he looked around, his attention was attracted by a young boy with white hair and blue eyes, wearing dilapidated clothes, who was running with baguettes in his arms and heading towards a dark alley.

Then Lucas, who had unconsciously activated his stigma by observing him, said to himself with a smile:

"This boy has something abnormal. "

While Lucas was thinking about this young boy, Dayvon returned with two hot waffles, garnished with whipped cream and fresh fruit.

"Lucas, come. Our waffles are ready. "

Lucas approached Dayvon running and observed the waffles in Dayvon's hands.

Then, with an amazed look and droooing a little, Lucas said:

"Where is mine? He said, his face amazed.

They went to a bench near a fountain, not far from where they were, to be able to taste the waffles.

"So, do you like it? ", asked Dayvon, watching Lucas savor each bite with delight.

"It's the best waffle I've ever eaten in my life," Lucas replied, looking amazed and his mouth still full.

Dayvon burst out laughing.

"You still have a lot to discover, my brother," he said, looking at Lucas with a sweet look who ate his waffle.

As Lucas savored his last bite of waffle, he began to hear a burst of laughter not far from them.

Then he looked up and saw a group of young people, obviously inhabitants of the capital, chatting and joking around a table.

One of them, a boy with red hair and a face covered with freckles, seemed to tell a story that made everyone laugh.

"They seem to be having fun," whispered Lucas, intrigued.

Dayvon watching the people laughing and shrugged his shoulders.

"It's life here. People enjoy every moment and live day to day. "

"Come on, come. Let's keep having fun. Our evening is just beginning. "

After finishing their waffles, Dayvon continued to show Lucas around the capital, walking him from street to street and making him try several stands and shops within the capital.

They even began to dance to the music of the musicians who played on every street corner.

As their evening came to an end, Lucas, having fun with his brother, was attracted by screams across the street.

« To the thief ! »

« Stop him ! »

As Lucas watched the three men shouting these phrases, he began to carefully observe the scene.

And he saw the young boy with white hair and blue eyes that he had seen earlier, sneaking between passers-by with surprising agility.

This time, he was carrying a canvas bag filled to the brim and his face was illuminated with a smile on his lips.
