Luviyah's playful demeanor had completely vanished. Her golden eyes sharpened, and she nodded for me to continue.
"They kept referring to someone—or something—called 'The One Beneath.' We don't know exactly who or what it is, but from what Umbaxis told us, it's a being that was resurrected using the same method they were planning to use on Umbaxis."
A flicker of recognition crossed her face, but she said nothing yet.
"Siegfried and his group were planning to use Umbaxis to open some kind of seal, and when that failed, he lost control." My hands clenched at the memory. "The fight was… intense. He nearly overpowered us, but Fafnir, Zarathorak, and Ingi managed to hold him back while I performed a soul transfer with Umbaxis that is now named Veydris. The dragon chose to give me his power rather than let himself be used as a pawn."
Luviyah's expression darkened. "A soul transfer…" she murmured.
