Chapter 64 - Chapter 64

Everyone was stunned. Aokiji was an admiral, but among the three admirals of the navy, there was no one named Garp.

"Wait… did you just say Garp?" Nami's eyes widened as she suddenly recalled something. "You mean the Navy Hero? How is he Luffy's grandfather?"

"The Navy Hero?" Franky frowned thoughtfully. "I've heard of him. They say he's a legendary marine with insane strength!"

Jack nodded with a grin. "That's right. My sensei is none other than Vice Admiral Garp—the Hero of the Navy. He's been offered a promotion to admiral multiple times, but for his own reasons, he's always turned it down. So, despite his rank, don't mistake him for an ordinary vice admiral—if you do, you'll regret it badly."

At that moment, Garp suddenly jolted awake.

"Oops! I actually dozed off!" He blinked, then turned to Luffy—who was still snoozing with bubble in his nose—and immediately clocked him with a fist of love.

"Oi! You brat! How dare you fall asleep while being scolded?!"

By now, thanks to Jack's presence, the Straw Hat Pirates had grown accustomed to the bizarre antics of this grandfather-grandson duo and chose not to dwell on it.

Once Luffy—now thoroughly awake thanks to Garp's "lesson"—gathered himself, their conversation resumed. Garp and Jack then gave the crew a broad introduction to the New World and the terrifying figures who ruled it—the Four Emperors.

Just then, a sudden commotion erupted outside. Jack turned to look and saw Zoro clashing with the marines, wielding two swords with ease.

"You two, go try to stop him!" Garp said with a grin.

"Yes, sir!" Coby and Helmeppo responded with a nod, stepping forward without hesitation.

Under Jack's training, they had improved significantly over time. Since they also knew Luffy, Garp had brought them along to gain firsthand experience in the real world.

"Sensei, I doubt they can handle that swordsman," Jack remarked with a helpless sigh.

"It's fine—there's no better training than real combat!" Garp waved a hand dismissively.

Sure enough, Jack's prediction proved correct. While Coby and Helmeppo had grown stronger compared to their past selves, their abilities were still far from enough. After just ten exchanges, both were swiftly defeated—one by Luffy and the other by Zoro.

"Haha! Turns out they weren't a match for him at all! Jack, want to give it a shot?" Garp laughed heartily.

"Forget it. Luffy's not at my level yet. I'll wait until he's grown a little more," Jack replied with a smirk.

Of course, he had no intention of making a move now. He would wait at least two more years—by then, their bounties would be worth claiming. As it stood, only Luffy's bounty had exceeded 100 million, and his new wanted poster was likely still making its way through the world.

However, after hearing Garp's words, both Zoro and Luffy grew eager to fight. They had long wanted to test their strength against Jack—especially after witnessing a glimpse of his power at the Ennies lobby. A proper sparring match with him was something they had been looking forward to.

"You can stop staring at me like that. Zoro, you're still missing a sword, aren't you? And both of you are injured. Let's save it for another time," Jack said, waving them off.

Realizing he was right, Luffy and Zoro reluctantly dropped the idea of challenging him—for now.

"Alright, now that that's settled, go fix the wall!" Garp suddenly ordered the marines standing behind him.

"Eh? What? Why us?" The soldiers stiffened, as if collectively turned to stone.

"We broke it, so we fix it. Isn't that obvious?" Garp replied matter-of-factly.

"In that case, why did you smash through it in the first place?"

"Because it looked cool!"

"You can't just destroy things for that reason!"

"Yeah! If we have to fix it, you should help too!"

"Oh, fine then!" Garp sighed, as if they were being unreasonable.

Meanwhile, inside the house, Jack was casually chatting with Nami and Chopper, entirely ignoring Garp's back-and-forth with the soldiers outside.

"I never imagined the legendary navy hero would be like this," Nami said, watching Garp bicker with the men outside.

"Not all marines are bad," Jack said with a smile, shaking his head. "Most of them genuinely uphold justice. It's just that a few corrupt individuals have tarnished the navy's reputation. On top of that, the World Government's policies have earned them a fair share of blame. To some people, the navy is just a symbol of oppression."

As Zoro stepped into the room, he overheard Jack's words and immediately recalled the navy captain T-Bone, whom he had encountered before. With a slight nod, he silently expressed his agreement with Jack's sentiment.

"Luffy, your grandfather is an incredible man," Sanji remarked sincerely, glancing at Luffy as he entered.

"I'm not sure about that. I don't really know much about what he does," Luffy replied nonchalantly.

Just then, as Garp continued repairing the wall, he suddenly turned his head and asked, "Luffy, I heard your father met you?"

"Eh? My dad? I have a dad?" Luffy asked in genuine surprise.

"What? So you didn't meet him? But he said he saw you off at Loguetown! Wasn't Jack there too?" Garp said casually, absentmindedly picking his nose.

"Luffy was too busy running from Smoker at the time, so they never crossed paths," Jack confirmed with a nod.

"Luffy's father? Who is he? Now I'm really curious," Nami said, unable to hide her intrigue.

"Loguetown? Luffy's father was there?" Zoro and Sanji exchanged glances, their curiosity about Luffy's background growing by the second.

"Sensei, are you sure this is the right place to be discussing something like this?" Jack sighed, shaking his head.

"Huh? Is that so? Hahaha, well, then let's drop it!" Garp chuckled, as if it was no big deal.

"What? No way! Tell us already! This is so frustrating!" Aside from Luffy—who seemed completely indifferent—everyone else was burning with curiosity.

"Luffy, your father's identity is... complicated. It's not something that should be discussed in a place like this," Jack said apologetically.

Before Luffy could even react, Garp gave a firm nod and said, "That's right. Your father, Monkey D. Dragon, is a member of the Revolutionary Army. As a marine, it wouldn't be appropriate for me to say much about him."

At that moment, everyone—except for Luffy—was completely stunned. Even the marines outside, along with Usopp, who was still hiding by the window, were frozen in shock at the mention of Dragon's name.

"Monkey D. Dragon?" Luffy looked around in confusion. "Why is everyone acting so weird?"

"Dragon... It's really Dragon… This is the first time I've heard his full name!" one navy officer muttered in disbelief.

"I can't believe it—the infamous Revolutionary Dragon actually has a son, and that son is none other than the pirate, Straw Hat Luffy! This is huge news!" Another marine exclaimed, still processing the revelation.

"Wait a minute… If Vice Admiral Garp is Luffy-san's grandfather, and Dragon is Luffy-san's father… Then that means…" Coby trailed off, his eyes widening as he connected the dots.

"What kind of insane family is this? A Vice Admiral, a Revolutionary, and a Pirate! This is madness!" Helmeppo clutched his head, struggling to comprehend the absurdity of it all.

Watching the shocked reactions around him, even Luffy started to feel that something was off. He turned to Robin and asked, "Robin, what's going on?"

"You mean to tell me you've never heard of him?" Sanji nearly choked, barely holding himself together.

"Luffy, your father is an absolute legend," Franky added, clearly just as stunned by the revelation.

"How should I put it…?" Robin paused, carefully choosing her words. "As pirates, we don't actively attack the World Government or the Navy. However, the Revolutionary Army is different. They're the only organization with the power to overthrow the World Government—and their leader is Dragon."

She glanced at Luffy before continuing, "His ideology spreads across the world alongside the Revolutionary Army. Because of this, many countries have risen in rebellion, and several governments have been toppled as a result."

"So your father is considered the world's most dangerous criminal and the Navy's number one target," Jack added with a casual smile.

Yet, despite hearing all this, Luffy remained unfazed. Meanwhile, Garp suddenly realized he might have said too much. Scratching his head, he muttered, "Oops… Maybe I shouldn't have said that. Just forget I mentioned it!"

"Pfft—"

Everyone stared at Garp, utterly dumbfounded. They hadn't expected such a nonchalant reaction after dropping such a bombshell.

Once the wall was repaired, Garp prepared to leave. Before departing, he turned to Luffy and said, "You're my grandson, so I won't arrest you. Don't worry—I've already come up with an excuse."

"Vice Admiral, that's not an excuse at all! You might as well just let them escape!" His adjutant protested helplessly.

"Ah, whatever, it's settled!" Garp waved dismissively. "You can catch up with Jack, Coby, and the others. I'm heading out!"

Clearly uninterested in prolonging the conversation, Garp left without hesitation. Seeing that his grandson was safe was enough for him.

"Yeah! Bye-bye!" Luffy responded casually.

"You little brat! How can you be so heartless? Can't you at least ask your grandpa to stay a little longer? We haven't seen each other in so long!" Sure enough, Garp was infuriated by Luffy's indifference and promptly delivered another "lesson" in his own way.

"They really are two of a kind," Nami muttered, watching the chaotic scene unfold outside. She turned to Jack with an exasperated look.

Jack chuckled. "Don't be fooled by how my sensei acts. Just like Luffy, he has a certain charm—one that makes people naturally want to follow him."

Nami, Sanji, and Chopper exchanged glances but remained silent. Perhaps that was the very reason they had chosen to sail with Luffy in the first place.
