I accepted the ride.
I did not ask questions as to why he wanted Kashar dead. I did not think I needed to. Anyone with a brain and talent for speech would also want him dead, except, of course, the one who seemed to have something to gain in his rule.
This dragon came to me, unprovoked and asked me to kill its master. Perhaps, it had had enough of Kashar and his ancestors for a lifetime. It did not say much despite having the gift of speech.
And it sure took its time, soaring through the sky. Lots of other dragons passed us by numerous times but it kept a steady pace.
The silence was uncomfortable, especially since I knew it could talk but it seemed comfortable. The creature had made its request and I had accepted, what else was there to say?
It was quiet, too quiet, except, of course, for the flapping of numerous wings and the occasional roaring of the dragons.
"Why me?" I asked, just desperate to wscape the silence.
