THREE HOURS EARLIER.
The blaring sound of my ringtone jolted me awake. My hand instinctively reached out to where I had placed my phone before falling asleep.
"Lord Vael, there's a situation," came a voice from the other end of the call.
I immediately shot up from the bed, my senses sharpening at the urgency in his tone. It was only then I realized it was no longer morning. My gaze flicked to the wall clock. Afternoon. Damn it.
"What's the matter?" I asked, my voice calm but laced with steel. Every second felt like it carried the weight of something about to explode.
"It's from the Crescent Moon Pack," the voice continued, low and tense. "My sources say they're planning to send someone to find you. And sir, that is very…"
"....dangerous," I finished for him, nodding grimly. We had talked about this. The risk. The consequences. And now, it was no longer a distant threat—it was here.
