After the first three rounds of shipments, Luke wanted to shout excitedly in his heart: I'm so lucky tonight!
He seriously suspected that the goddess of luck must have been attracted by his cute little face that was loved by everyone and made flowers bloom wherever he went.
Without further ado, Luke struck while the iron was hot and began the fifth round of draws.
The results came out quickly.
The guaranteed reward was another skill book!
[Skill Book: G-3 Predator]
"Great, the War Lord finally has something to mount!" Luke clasped his hands together, joy flashing in his eyes, his little face smiling happily.
The War Lord, which originally did not come with a weapon mount, finally had a seasoning pack.
He had no idea what the system designer was thinking. Whether it was the Air Combat Mecha: Tornado or the G-0 War Lord, when he first drew them, they only came with body design blueprints—no weapon mounts, no attachments.
Now, he had finally drawn a G-series machine from the Mechanic class, which could perfectly match the War Lord.
With a gentle clap of his hands, the skill book turned into bright stars of light that were instantly absorbed by him. Luke closed his eyes and carefully felt the familiar sensation of knowledge infusion.
This feeling was truly wonderful.
If others wanted to acquire this advanced knowledge of mecha manufacturing, there was only one way—study and research. It could take decades of hard work to achieve.
Yet, it only took him ten seconds to absorb all the information. After another day or two of digestion, the knowledge would become second nature to him.
"So, the G-3 Predator is actually considered a true part of the War Lord in terms of structural design?"
Luke pulled up the new design in his mind, and when he examined it closely, he discovered some big news.
It turned out that the G-0 War Lord he had been flying wasn't complete.
The true, complete form consisted of four parts: G-0 War Lord, G-1 Corona, G-2 Thunderbolt, and G-3 Predator.
Without G-1, G-2, and G-3, the War Lord was just an empty shell.
Luke thought of his poor War Lord, armed with only a single gun under its frame. He found it amusing but also frustrating. He had no choice but to make do with what he had. Ordinary weapons just didn't cut it for him anymore.
Luckily, mechas looked cool wielding swords.
Now, with a mounted weapon, Luke felt even more like a Gundam.
[G-3 Predator: A group of laser emitters that kill enemies by firing high-energy lasers. They can automatically track targets, continuously chase enemies, and fire lasers at them.]
It was essentially a swarm of flies, relentlessly pursuing a target and bombarding them with continuous laser attacks.
"The Strike Freedom seems to have a similar mount, but its version is much stronger, with over a dozen cannons in a group. Its concentrated fire effect is insane," Luke recalled, subconsciously comparing the advantages and disadvantages of both.
The advantage of the G-3 Predator was its ability to track and continuously fire at enemies while being relatively cheap.
Based on the materials required in the blueprint, he estimated that each laser emitter would cost about $10,000. They were also reusable.
And since the G-series was originally designed for the War Lord, no modifications were necessary—just plug and play.
The disadvantages were obvious, though. The intensity of the high-energy lasers was limited and required sustained targeting to be effective.
Moreover, the blueprint stated that only six transmitters could be networked into a group. Due to limitations in signal coordination technology, any attempts to exceed six units per group would result in unknown errors, making the G-3 Predator significantly less stable in combat. Sometimes, it would even stop working altogether.
Luke scratched his head, frowning in thought. His small face bore an expression far too serious for his age.
"If it's a technical problem, then it's not really a problem at all. Technology improves over time.
"The laser intensity issue can be solved by upgrading the laser generator, increasing the frequency, or changing the power source—maybe even using an Arc Reactor.
"As for the grouping limitation… if a single group can only have six, I could just create multiple groups and install several command modules on the War Lord. During battles, I could have Ross handle coordination. This is the real world—there's always a way to improve things."
The G-3 Predator had arrived at the perfect time, filling the gap in Luke's arsenal for dealing with large-scale battles.
Currently, the War Lord was more like an Iron Knight—holding a giant blade, specializing in one-on-one combat.
But if a battle broke out in New York against thousands of Chitauri swarming like locusts, he would be at a disadvantage. No matter how strong the War Lord's adamantium coating was, it wouldn't hold out forever against sheer numbers.
Now, things were looking much better. With the G-3 Predator, he could launch six or more laser units simultaneously. Like a squad of drones, they could efficiently clear out weaker enemies, allowing the War Lord to focus on high-priority targets.
"It looks like the right tool for the job makes all the difference. The increase in combat power isn't just 1 + 1 = 2—it's exponential.
"I just don't know when I'll draw G-1 Corona and G-2 Thunderbolt… It'd be great if there was a skill selection gift box." Luke sighed, feeling a little regretful.
Putting those thoughts aside, he proceeded with the sixth round of draws.
Among a pile of magic stones and data chips, a skill book with a plain cover stood out.
Luke reached out and picked it up.
[Skill Book: Purification]
A common ability from the clergy, it wasn't frequently used.
The function described in the book was simple: remove negative status effects from a target.
"Negative effects? Like dizziness, petrification, poisoning?" Luke mused, his mind wandering. After a moment, he decided that while this skill wasn't exactly game-changing, it wasn't completely useless either.
At the very least, it was one of the few "magic" abilities he had learned.
"In battle, I can't be babysitting everyone. So this skill is mainly for myself—maybe occasionally for my teammates. But let's be honest, it's not going to see much action..."
The skill's nature determined its limitations. As a battle maniac, Luke preferred skills that boosted his combat power directly. The G-3 Predator was exactly what he needed.
The seventh round of ten draws finished quickly.
[Skill Book: Sand Throwing]
"...Street Fighter's sand throwing?"
Luke's expression turned a little strange. He checked the description:
"Throw a handful of sand, quicklime, or horse manure to temporarily blind the enemy."
How despicable!
No, no, absolutely not!
He was an Apostle, an idol to thousands of girls, and yet here he was learning how to throw sand like a common street thug?!
Hitting someone with a brick was fine—that was a legendary move. One hit, and even a powerhouse would collapse.
But throwing sand? Could it really blind enemies 100% of the time?
"...Wait, looking at the description, it actually seems useful?"
Luke hesitated for a moment before making a decision.
"Alright, I'll just use it secretly. If anyone sees me using it… I'll just have to make sure they don't live to tell the tale."
