Chapter 6 - 6. Night Game

6. Night Game

Yiran turned his head when he saw something moving in the distance. The object seemed to be floating in the air. If this had happened in the real world, Yiran would have thought it was a ghost. But it turned out to be Huang Yue.

(Dressed all in white... I almost screamed. Damn...)

Logically, a human shouldn't be able to jump that high, let alone hover. But in this world, such things weren't unusual. Yiran was sure there were people who could truly fly.

(Superhumans...)

Yiran narrowed his eyes as he watched Yue standing atop a house. Unlike him, Yue could see Yiran clearly.

Realizing it was already late at night, Yiran chose to turn around and leave. He had trouble sleeping, so he decided to take a walk in the courtyard. However, unexpectedly, he ran into none other than the head of the Huang family.

"You sure are bold, walking away from your savior, Yiran."

(Damn, she was there!) Yiran thought.

Up close, Yue was a beautiful woman, but for Yiran, it was best not to show he was captivated. He didn't want his actions to cause any unexpected trouble.

"Follow me," Yue said, motioning with her index finger for Yiran to come along.

Yiran followed Yue to her residence. Once inside, Yue gestured for him to sit. Not long after, someone appeared when Yue called for them.

"Can you drink?" Yue asked.

Yiran immediately understood what she meant—this situation was all too familiar to him.

"Yes..."

"'Yes'? Did you mean to say Dui?" Yue asked, slightly confused.

(I don't understand... what you're saying,) Yiran replied.

"Maybe that's what it means..." Yue murmured.

A strong aroma filled the air, making Yiran take a sip of his drink without hesitation.

(Ugh... this is strong...)

"You don't seem used to drinking, huh? But this is the finest and most popular liquor..." Yue said, pouring more into a small cup before drinking it effortlessly.

(This is too strong... I've tried the strongest ones before, but nothing like this... My head is spinning. Damn...)

"Want another round?" Yue asked with a teasing smile.

Yiran immediately raised his palm, refusing without hesitation.

(This isn't any traditional liquor I've had before. This is dangerously strong! One sip and I'm already dizzy... Should I leave? Would that be okay?)

"You talk too much. I don't understand a single thing you're saying."

Yiran pointed at the door, then mimed walking in place before signaling that he was going to bed.

Yue watched his every movement with amusement. She found it entertaining, even though she knew exactly what Yiran was trying to do. But she didn't grant his request to leave.

"Zhi must have had a great time watching you. Now I'm curious after seeing it myself. This is pretty funny."

(Miss, I want to get out of here. Can I? If this keeps up, I might go crazy. Someone could walk in, and they'd think I got drunk and attacked you in the middle of the night...)

"Mmm... such a strange language..."

By now, Yue had already taken her tenth sip, while Yiran remained silent, wondering just how similar Yue was to a superhuman.

Yiran bowed slightly toward Yue, who blinked a few times in response.

Then, Yue turned around and walked a few steps toward the door, smiling.

(What the hell is this?!)

"Surprised?" Yue asked with a smirk.

(She's not letting me leave...)
