Qingran didn't respond immediately. She focused on rinsing her bowl, the sound of running water filling the silence between them. Lingquan, lounging on the counter, flicked his tail and let out an exaggerated sigh.

[For someone so sharp, you sure are blind when it comes to yourself.]

She shot him a look. "I thought you were upgrading the shop list?"

[I am. But multitasking is a thing, remember?]

Haoyu leaned against the doorway, arms crossed. "I'm just saying, Sister Qingran, people like him don't just hover around for no reason. You don't have to like him back, but at least acknowledge that he—"

"He what?" She turned off the tap and grabbed a towel, drying her hands. "If he wanted to say something, he would. And if he doesn't, then it's not my problem."

Haoyu opened his mouth, then closed it, realizing he wasn't going to get through to her. "Fine, fine. Forget I said anything."

Qingran didn't push the topic further. She had more important things to focus on.
