Elara kept arguing with Ronan, her voice rising in dramatic outrage, but I barely paid attention. They did this all the time since I first met them—bickering like children as if the world around us wasn't on fire. It should have annoyed me, but instead, I found myself listening.
"Traitor!" Elara hissed, stabbing a finger toward me. "I thought we were on the same side!"
I blinked at her. "Over a rabbit?"
"Over her!" She gestured to the small creature, indignant. "You held her like she was precious, and now you're taking his side?"
I wasn't taking anyone's side. I was just stating a fact.
