Post-Match Press Conference – St. James' Park

The backdrop was standard: black-and-white sponsor walls, tight microphones, bottled water nobody touched. Jake Wilson sat down, still in his match coat, still damp from the rain that had come late in the second half.

He didn't lean back. He didn't fold his arms.

He just sat still—elbows on the table, fingertips pressed together.

Sky Sports Reporter:

"Jake, your thoughts on the result?"

Jake (steady):

"They were sharper. More clinical. They wanted it—and they earned it."

He paused. Not for effect, just to breathe.

Jake:

"We had moments. Enough to ask questions. But not enough to take control. And when you give space to quality like that… they don't waste it."

BBC Radio Leeds:

"Any regrets about the changes? There's been some chatter online that the lineup was too rotated for a game of this weight."

Jake didn't even blink.
