Chapter 12 - An Unexpected Gem

Park Heejun didn't have time to react.

One moment, Romeo was a distance away from him, and the next, his fist was already inches away from his face.

He only had time to barely put up a guard before the punch landed.

He felt his bones shake before a resounding snap echoed in his ears, pain traveling through his arm while his body was launched backward by the force of Romeo's punch. He tumbled across the rooftop as his broken arm dangled powerlessly after tanking the blow.

'What.. was that?'

Heejun's mind was in disarray as he barely registered what happened. How was he so fast? Can a human actually move like that?

Romeo didn't wait for his mind to settle, already closing in and readying another strike from above his lying form.

Heejun's eyes widened, his body in a fight-or-flight response as his brain fully processed the threat that Romeo posed.

'He's going to kill me.'

All he saw was a cold, apathetic face as Romeo catapulted his fist to scatter Heejun's brain matter across the rooftop. Time slowed down and his mind raced as the fist inched closer and closer to his skull. As the threat of death loomed over him, Romeo saw Heejun's eyes slowly give off a faint white glow.

He didn't care what light show was going on in Heejun's eyes, however — all that was left in his head was to shatter his bones against his fists. To show him his place. Beneath him. To the grave that he'll send him to, the fare of his one way trip being paid with his blood and screams of agony.

Heejun twisted his head out the way in a burst of speed, a loud bang resounding as Romeo's fist cracked the ground where his skull had been laying a moment prior.

Heejun, as if injected with newfound energy, rolled and flipped back to his feet steadily before raising his one useful arm up and shooting it forward, Romeo already upon him.

He didn't even bother to block or dodge, simply letting Heejun's fist connect into his unprotected jaw. He didn't flinch, cocking his fist back and burrowing it deep into Heejun's liver.

His mind blanked and the glowing light faded from his eyes. He couldn't contain a single thought in his head as pain exploded into his side, his body refusing to obey him and dropping to the floor.

Romeo's fist burrowed itself into his face even before he fully hit the ground, sending him crashing into the earth with a loud crack, his cheekbone fracturing.

He cocked his fist back again, flexing his arm and causing the veins to pop from his muscles as he readied what would be the final blow, grabbing Heejun forcefully by the neck so that the little rat would stay still before he shattered his skull.

Romeo was caught off guard as he was launched away from Heejun with a tackle and slammed onto the ground, a barrage of punches falling onto his form.

He didn't look at who his assailant was, instinctively blocking and redirecting the blows coming from above him before his fist blurred, shooting out and making a loud bang echo as his punch connected with the jaw of the fucker who interrupted his display of power.

Their unconscious body began to slump onto his before he threw it off of him, getting up and beginning to walk over to Heejun to finish what he started before he felt a hand grab onto his ankle.

"Leave.. him.. alone."

Romeo looked behind him and felt something other than the hot, boiling rage that encompassed his body at the moment. He felt intrigued, and recognition.

He recognized the eyes of the loser— no, of the kid who Heejun hung around. They reminded him of his own. Of Donald's.

Of having something to protect. To cherish.

Of having something, someone — to fight for.

That you would do anything to protect.

No.

The momentary intrigue was smothered by the raging fire of his hatred.

They knew nothing of loss.

He lifted his other foot up before slamming his shoe ontop of the fucker's hand, a satisfying crack resounding in his ears as blood once again wet the bottom of his designer shoes.

They knew nothing, of being weak.

The loser bit his lip til blood started dripping from it, tears swelling in his eyes, but he still didn't let go.

He raised his foot again, planting it with no mercy into his face, bloodying it instantly as blood gushed out from the kid's nose.

But he wouldn't.

Fucking.

BAM

"Let."

BAM

"Go."

BAM

His face was swollen, his nose broken and gushing blood. His tears were mixed with the blood on his face.

But he still didn't let go of Romeo's ankle.

A crisp slap traveled through the rooftop, the spectators of what was transpiring not daring to let a peep out of them as they observed with fear.

Another slap resounded as Romeo smacked himself in the face once more before placing his head between his hands in concentration, closing his eyes and closing off the outside world around him.

He breathed in through his nose til not another blip of air could be filled into his lungs, before exhaling through his mouth.

He repeated the process two more times before leaning his head back and letting his hands fall back to his side.

"What's your name."

The kid didn't answer him, his jaw broken from one of Romeo's brutal kicks.

He didn't expect one, his mind racing to recall the information that info guy told him about Park Heejun. It took him a split second to get the answer of his question from his own memory of the conversation.

"Kwon Daegun. That's your name."

Romeo back down at Daegun's form, still gripping onto his ankle. He dropped low to his knees, staring at Daegun's teary but determined eyes with his own.

"I acknowledge your tenacity, so I'll stop the fight here."

He put his hand ontop of Daegun's head.

"You, along with the rest of Incheon Middle School, belong to me now."

Daegun's eyes focused into his for a few moments longer in defiance before he instantly collapsed into unconsciousness, the hand that had unshakingly gripped Romeo's ankle like a vice finally relaxing.

.

.

.

No one could believe it.

Despite all the sightings and witnesses of third years carried to the infirmary and Lee Hyeon himself being sent to the hospital, everyone in Incheon Middle School was still processing the fact that a first year foreigner that no one knew prior had single handedly overturned the entire school on the first day, before lunch had ended.

After the rooftop incident, Hun-gil Lee, known to the rest of the school as The Foreign Monster's Right Hand simply because he was always around him before the fights took place, had went to every class boss to deliver a message.

Rally up on the rooftop after school.

No one, not even the second years who hadn't been touched yet, dared to test the new head's patience.

Romeo had let everybody know that he wasn't to be trifled with — they didn't want to be the next one he kicked the door open to and pulverized in front of their entire class.

And so, as classes finally ended, the remaining delinquents and their respective class heads all walked up the rooftop staircase in grim silence.

"You're headed up too, Jungho?"

A second year head, Lee Changmin, recognized the person he considered his rival. They had been quarreling ever since their first year here, none of them being able to fully settle the score. He narrowed his eyes at Jungho's mocking smirk, wanting to smash the face of that snake-eyed bastard.

"The foreigner's a fucking monster, he fought that nicotine-obsessed bastard and all the third years at the same time. Along with Park Heejun, right after. Why the fuck would I get on the bad side of a fucker like that? You braindead, dumbass?"

Changmin's face grew grimmer, ignoring Jungho's taunts. That's exactly why he's going up too, but not just because of the foreigner's strength.

Word had already spread about how ruthless he was. How battered and beaten the ones he fought were left, making them realize that he didn't truly fight anyone. He had massacred them, with them lucky to make it out still breathing.

Everyone was cautious around someone strong, but a monster that wouldn't hesitate to coat the rooftop with your blood, leaving the former head of the school bawling like a child at the mention of his name?

They were terrified.

And so, as Changmin and Jungho entered the rooftop and were greeted with the sight of every single delinquent in the school nervously standing at attention in front of a red eyed foreigner clad in designer clothes, they were in awe, but not overly surprised.
