After the summer vacation, all three of them reported to school together then went their separate ways.
Wei Hong Yi said he heard Luo Xing Jie had been sent abroad by his family to develop. Usually, this means that the family has given up on this descendant but based on Luo Xing Jie's identity, Fu Ling knew that was impossible. But, he decided to enjoy this bit of time without that trouble maker.
As they were studying three different majors and lived in different dormitories, they rarely saw each other except for purposely arranging to meet up and as their schedules varied, such times were rare.
However, Fu Ling seem to have discovered that he and Gu Lian met more often that Wei Hong Yi. He was surprised because with his major, Gu Lian should be the one with less time among all three of them but he said their schedules aligned more.
Fu Ling observed for a while and it seemed to be so? He felt like he was missing something important but he couldn't think of what.
They kept this pace until it was time to leave the school. Gu Lian asked what Fu Ling wanted to do after graduation but he wasn't sure. Fu Ling came for him after all.
Gu Lian said he wanted to start up his own company. He's smart. He can definitely do it.
Preparations for graduation were under way and Fu Ling went to the store to get some things. He checked out and was leaving when he heard someone call his name. When he realized who it was, he cursed himself for not checking the almanac before going out today.
He rushed away but for some reason she was able to catch up to him. She wanted to hold his arm but he dodged unnoticeably and she grabbed air. She pouted slightly.
"Fu Ling you're no fun at all"
He could tell she was up to no good. They didn't part on great terms the other time, yet she was able to be coquettish towards him and act like nothing happened. He actually admired her mental quality but he wasn't in the mood to play with the heroine so he hastened his footsteps.
"We're not friends. Stay away from me."
He didn't purposely lower his voice and people started looking at her with strange eyes. She was frustrated and he took the opportunity to get away.
Wen Ting looked at the figure getting further and further away and cursed the dog man in her heart. She stamped her feet and turned around then caught a glimpse of a figure across the road which made her blood chill.
She pulled up a smile and crossed the road then grabbed his sleeve hesitantly. Seeing that he did not reject her, she became bolder and simply threw herself into his arms.
"A'Jie I missed you so much. While you were gone, everyone said you would never come back again and that I was wasting my time by waiting for you. Now even random people can bully me however they want. I'm so aggrieved. "
Luo Xing Jie pat her head comfortingly.
"I'm here now. Don't worry. No one will bully you anymore"
Wen Ting's hanging heart finally fell. Thankfully he didn't see the scene where she pestered Fu Ling. What she didn't know was that Luo Xing Jie was no longer the impatient boy from before but she took it for granted that he would still like her.
In a place where she couldn't see, his eyes were filled with indifference and carelessness but his hands rubbing her back did it with utmost care. Anyone who saw this scene would feel creepy but unfortunately, Wen Ting was too caught up in her thoughts to notice.
Fu Ling ran away quickly and didn't see the reunion scene between the male and female protagonist but he guessed he would be back in the country already. Fu Ling could almost see his peaceful life crumbling into pieces.
Coincidentally, this was one of the days where they could all come together.
Fu Ling expressed his dissatisfaction with them both immensely.
"Why can't they just be together and stop pulling innocent people into their little game?"
Wei Hong Yi was already slightly drunk
"Be careful. My dad says he seems to have made significant progress abroad and his family values him even more now"
I rolled my eyes. Of course he would. As the male protagonist, his setting is to turn every disappointment to breakthrough. It would have been worth admiring if this protagonist wasn't crazy.
Later that night, they called Wei Hong Yi's family driver and sent him off. Gu Lian didn't say much all evening.
"Is there anything bothering you?"
He looked at me intently
"No, why why say that?"
Fu Ling shrugged slightly
"Well, you were quiet this evening. More quiet than you usually are."
"I just have some things on my mind tonight. By the way umm Wen Ting? Isn't it good to get together with her?"
Fu Ling looked at him in mild horror
"How is that good? That girl is a scheming snake. Don't you even know how to judge people? No. If you ever fall in love, you have to show us the girl first before confirming the relationship. You seem quite smart usually who knew you would be so dumb when it came to judging people's character. How come you still don't realize what kind of person she is even after all these years?"
He didn't get angry with Fu Ling's nagging and trailed behind him with a small smile. It has always been like this. Sometimes Fu Ling feel like he treats him like a child but it doesn't feel too bad so he just indulges him.
They got to the shared apartment and Fu Ling locked the main door behind him then stretched while going to his room.
"Fu Ling "
He turned around mid stretch with both his hands above his head and looked at Gu Lian curiously.
"I'll tell you something later."
"Ah? How about you tell me now?"
"No the time isn't right yet. Be patient okay? I'll definitely tell you "
Fu Ling grumbled that Gu Lian had to arouse his curiously but ended up not saying anything today but he didn't urge him anymore.
He said goodnight and closed the door firmly.
