Okabe stood before the class, his voice calm but firm. "The purpose is simple, to help you build resistance to your dominant chakra nature." he explained. "That means you'll be placed in specially designed rooms that challenge your body and chakra system to adapt. Fire types will train in simulated fire environments, earth types in pressure zones, and so on. Any questions?"
There was a brief pause before a hand shot up.
"Sensei, why haven't we ever heard about these rooms before? And what do they actually do exactly, I didn't understand ?" a student asked, brows furrowed with curiosity.
Okabe gave a small nod, as if expecting that question. "It's because these rooms are reserved for academy elites, ANBU operatives, and exceptional shinobi who've contributed significantly to Konoha. As for what they do— put simply, they increase your resistance against your own chakra nature. You see, during the execution of jutsu, especially higher-rank ones, there's always a risk of recoil damage. These rooms aren't magical solutions, but they act as catalysts—speeding up your body's natural adaptation process far faster than it would happen on its own."
Another hand went up. This time, it was an Uchiha student. His voice was calm but laced with pride. "Sensei, I've already learned a D-rank jutsu, and I didn't get hurt using it. Does that mean I already have high resistance? And what about prodigies like Itachi-sama? He passed out of the academy very early, how did he build resistance?"
Okabe chuckled softly, his expression warming. "D-rank jutsu generally aren't powerful enough to harm the user, even if it's not your dominant chakra nature. So yes, most academy students can perform them without issue with enough chakra control and affinity. But once you move into higher ranks, it's a different story. A, B or C-rank jutsu, especially if performed prematurely, can seriously hurt or even cripple a shinobi if their body isn't ready. That's why most regular students don't graduate early, because their bodies haven't developed the necessary resistance. It usually starts building around age eleven or twelve, and even then, it varies."
He paused, eyes drifting slightly as if pulled into memory. "As for Itachi… well, he was an exception. A true genius. His chakra control and physical resistance were naturally ahead of his peers—even adults, in some cases. He mastered jutsu most couldn't dream of on their first try. The council had no choice but to approve his early graduation."
There was a brief silence in the room. Okabe's voice softened, as though he were recalling something both proud and bittersweet.
"But even then, it was mandatory for him to continue training in these resistance rooms until he was ten. No one gets a free pass here—not even prodigies."
He blinked, as if snapping out of his thoughts, and straightened up. "Anyway, enough about the past. Let's talk about the rooms themselves. They're not too fancy. We use advanced Fuinjutsu seals combined with assistance from active shinobi or academy instructors to replicate extreme environments and rest will be explained by instructors inside room. The goal is to push your limits and train your body to endure."
Reaching into his front pocket, he pulled out a folded sheet of paper and began to read aloud, his tone more official now.
"Kaito… Ishikawa… Hana… Kazeo… ..... and Toru," he called out one by one.
He looked up, a small smile on his face. "Now, as the headmaster and I told you earlier." Okabe began, his tone light but official, "the top ten students will be rewarded. These are the ones who earned it—just like you already know."
From the same pocket, he pulled out a small, diamond-shaped rock, only about 3 centimeters long but its presence was hard to ignore. A faint flicker of fire danced within it, glowing gently. Holding it delicately between his thumb and index finger, he raised it for all to see.
"These" he said, the light glinting off the crystal's surface, "are called Elemental Crystals."
The room had gone quiet, eyes fixed on the glowing gem.
"These crystals and the knowledge surrounding them were not accessible to students before the Kyūbi's rampage." he continued. "Back then, only ANBU, high-ranking clan members, or elite shinobi who had done something remarkable for the village were allowed to use them. But after that dark day… things changed. Now, academy elites like you get a chance."
He let the words sink in, watching the mix of awe and curiosity ripple through the class before speaking again.
"Their purpose is simple, boosting your elemental affinity. When used correctly, they deepen your connection to the element you absorb from them. Any questions so far?"
A student from middle row slowly raised his hand, voice unsure."Sensei, can we increase our affinity to any element… endlessly ?"
Okabe chuckled at the innocence behind the question, but his answer came with a seriousness that pulled the attention back. "No. We can't."
There was a wave of disappointed sighs, some students snickering under their breath, clearly thinking the top ten hadn't won much after all.
But Okabe didn't let the misunderstanding settle. He raised his voice slightly and continued, instantly commanding silence. "But don't be so quick to judge. These crystals may not break your limits, but they bend them. Affinity naturally increases with age and training, but only to a certain extent. Everyone hits a plateau, these crystals help you punch through it. And that's not all—they can accelerate mastery. What would normally take until age 15 to achieve… these stones can help you reach that by 11 or 12. That's a huge leap, and those of you who truly want to be shinobi will understand the value of that."
Now the tone in the room shifted. Jaws dropped. Students looked at each other, wide-eyed. Even the ones who weren't in the top ten looked stunned. A few kids in the 11th to 13th rank slumped in their place, clearly frustrated at just barely missing out.
Seeing the silence stretch, Kazeo raised his hand. "Sensei… if they're this useful, shouldn't every shinobi have access to them? Why haven't we heard of them before now?"
Okabe nodded, appreciating the question. "Because they're rare, extremely rare. Every hidden village only gets a limited number. And among them, only Konoha shares these with their academy students. Other villages? They keep them locked up, strictly for elite jōnin or ANBU."
Kazeo slowly nodded back, thinking to himself, 'That makes sense. If they can increase potential and mastery directly, they must be incredibly limited in nature…'
Okabe raised the crystal again. "The one I'm holding right now is called an Emberstone—it's aligned with the Fire element. Others include Gale Crystals for Wind, Static Crystals for Lightning, Earthbound Crystals for Earth, and Mist Pearl Crystals for Water. The crystals given to the top ten will match the elemental affinity we recorded earlier this morning using chakra paper."
He glanced across the room, eyes sharp yet encouraging. "I think everyone now understands the basics of these rooms and the crystals—their functions, their value. But just to be sure, I'll summarize. Listen closely, because after this, I won't be taking questions. Clear?"
The class responded in unison, "Yes, Sensei!"
Okabe gave a firm nod. "These are crystalline fragments. Each one contains an elemental resonance that syncs with the user's chakra when meditated upon. They help improve control, reduce chakra wastage, and increase affinity. The changes are subtle—but permanent. It won't make you overpowered, but it will make your jutsu sharper, cleaner, more efficient. And that, over time, makes all the difference."
He paused for effect, letting that final sentence land.
"Alright. One final announcement—then you'll each get to enter your respective training rooms for a short trial before heading home."
The class leaned forward in anticipation.
"Those in the top ten will continue receiving crystals until they turn twelve—even if they graduate early. Next year, however, the reward will be different. The top ten will receive items that enhance resistance rather than affinity. So aim high if you want those."
He shifted his gaze to the current top ten, eyes sharp. "And you guys—don't slack off. If you fall below the top fifteen next year, your privileges will be revoked. Understood?"
A chorus of "Yes, Sensei!" echoed in response.
"Oh, and one last thing, this resistance training will be held three days a week here in these special rooms. Your updated schedules will be given out tomorrow. Now… go inside the room matching your chakra nature. Your assigned teacher is already waiting. Train hard and aim for the top."
The room erupted into movement. Students, now buzzing with renewed motivation, charged toward their designated doors, some practically sparking with excitement. The very air seemed to hum with energy. Eyes wide with determination, hearts beating fast—everyone had the same thought: Next year, I'll be in that top ten. It was as if a fire had been lit under every single one of them.
As Kazeo and other wind affinity student, Hina crossed the threshold into the Wind Resistance Training Room, the reinforced door sealed behind them with a hushed clang. The air shifted in an instant—no longer still, it pulsed with invisible currents.
They entered a colossal dome, about 25 meters wide with a curved ceiling that disappeared into shifting shadows. Faint blue fuinjutsu patterns danced along the walls, glowing softly. In the center stood a circular stone dais, surrounded by four angular vents camouflaged into the floor. Above, chakra-powered turbines rotated with mechanical grace, sending faint breezes. The ground beneath their feet was smooth obsidian, etched with intricate sealing formations that shimmered faintly underfoot.
At the heart of it all stood a lone figure, tall, broad-shouldered, and masked from the nose down. His gray flak jacket bore not only the Konoha insignia but a secondary etching beneath it—a stylized swirl crossed with a horizontal line, a unique mark denoting a chakra regulation expert.
He turned to face them, his voice smooth, authoritative. "Kazeo, Hina. Good. You're on time. I'm Instructor Raizen, and this is Sector 3—Wind Resistance Conditioning."
Kazeo's eyes darted around the chamber, awe blooming across his face. "It's like… the room is alive."
Raizen gave a knowing smile. "In a way, it is. This chamber's not passive. It responds to your wind affinity. You'll be learning to ride it, resist it, and survive it. This isn't meditation—it's chakra endurance warfare."
Hina narrowed her eyes. "Couldn't a well-resourced clan recreate something like this with proper fuinjutsu and chakra engineers?"
The smile vanished from Raizen's lips. "A logical thought—but incorrect. What you see here isn't just fuinjutsu. These rooms are a product of joint research between the Uzumaki fuinjutsu archives and Nara shadow-logic simulations. Over two thousand intelligent seals interact with your chakra in real-time, adjusting wind pressure with precision. And it's all powered and regulated by a stabilized artificial node, something even clans can't replicate without dangerous instability, and —an unstable prototype in the wrong hands could kill everyone in a 500-meter radius."
Kazeo and Hina swallowed hard, the weight of what they'd entered finally settling in.
Raizen then gestured toward a nearby vent. "Those are pressure valves. They read your chakra flow and send targeted wind streams to pressure weak points in your chakra network. This creates 'chakra stress', which your body and chakra pathways gradually adapt to. It's like how bones get stronger under tension. Do it right, and your resistance increases nearly tenfold compared to normal training."
"This isn't a crash course. You'll train here for years, not days. Wind resistance is a slow, painful gain. Yes, this room speeds up that process. Without it, it might take a decade to mold sharp wind chakra without backlash. With it… maybe five. Maybe less. But even that depends on your latent talent."
Suddenly, the turbines above twitched. A concentrated arc of wind sliced down and skimmed across Kazeo's arm. The fabric tore, and a sharp sting followed.
"Lesson one," Raizen said, his eyes steady, "is surrender. Wind isn't a beast you cage—it's a current you learn to guide. Defy it and you bleed."
Kazeo glared at him a little in confusion 'Did he targeted me right now or was it a mistake?'
He nodded toward the glowing circle at the room's center. "Both of you— go inside for twenty minutes. Sit, focus, and let the wind test you. Keep your chakra flow intact. If you lose control... the wind will let you know."
Kazeo drew a steady breath, nerves crawling under his skin, and stepped into the center.
