The cave started off as a one-way path on a 20 or so degree decline. There was 6 or 7 feet worth of space from one side of the cave wall to the other, and close to the same amount of headroom above.
It was cramped, but big enough for everyone to slowly walk in. The cave took wide twists and turns as it descended to the depths.
Immediately after stepping inside, Sin noticed just how dark it was inside. Scarlet shined a fireball using her wand in order to create some light, but you could still only see a couple of feet in front of you.
Agneil's guards also held up small lanterns. There were no holes or anything in the walls, and the floor was rugged—half stone, half rubble and dirt.
Eventually, the cave opened up. It took twenty minutes of walking before they reached the actual dungeon part of the cave.
The narrow path descended into a massive chamber below. It was like a giant underground world, with ceilings reaching over 100 feet high at some places.
Stalactites hung down from the ceiling, ranging anywhere from 5 to 50 feet in length.
There were also many stalagmites on the floor, some even going up 50 feet and meeting in the middle with the stalactites to form pillars underground.
It was hard to see inside since it was so large. Sin and everyone else stood on a small ledge. From the ledge, there was a five-foot jump that everyone made one by one to reach the floor.
There were many blind spots with tall stalagmites and pillars, along with several crevices in the walls and corners.
Thankfully, there were also a collection of several dozen small crystal formations all along the walls and ceiling. Some crystals were a rich purple, others azure and orange.
They gave a bit more light to the space, allowing one to see the sheer scale of the cavern.
As everyone made it to the ground floor and took a few steps forward, they couldn't help but stop and look around like children entering a candy store for the first time.
Pure awe was all that was in their minds.
"I've been on over a thousand quests, and never have I come across such a large cave for such a small dungeon quest." Ince said, finding the size of the cavern astonishing.
A sharp noise pierced through the air out of nowhere—leaving a resounding echo that quickly approached from the distance.
Sin looked directly forward and saw a large, sharp object seemingly glistening in the air about 50 feet away from him and everyone else.
'Shit... it's way too fast to even observe.' Sin thought as the sharp piece of what looked like glass or metal quickly enlarged in his vision—meaning it was getting closer too fast for him to react.
Everyone else quickly also noticed the object moving in.
Agneil sharply gasped when he saw the sharp object. He was at the very front, so he was the first one the object was going to hit.
Sin heard a light rustle beside him. When he turned to look, Kael was already nowhere to be seen.
Looking forward again, Sin saw Kael's afterimage for a split second as the swordsman blitzed past everyone in the group and arrived in front of Agneil.
He unsheathed his sword with a rippling shing before slashing at the sharp object that was now mere feet in front of him.
The object came close enough to recognize. It was an arrow with a metal-headed tip. The arrow was close to 8 feet in length alone.
It moved with so much force and ferocity that when it clashed against Kael's sword, even Kael was pushed back several feet.
As the arrow continued to spin and ram against Kael's sword, Kael clenched his jaw and slammed his right foot into the ground before finally thrusting the arrow to the side.
The arrow rolled around the ground, Kael breathing slightly more heavily.
He looked back to check on Agneil, who looked like he had just seen a ghost.
Scarlet stepped forward with a worried look, "What in the world could have shot such an arrow?" She inspected the large arrow from afar.
Everyone else made their way toward the arrow as well. As they did this, Kael made sure to keep even alarmed: "Keep your guards up... if there was one, there will be more."
Ince walked up to the arrow and placed her hand on it, "Pretty good craftsmanship." She looked up: "An intelligent creature must have made this."
Roby shook his head, "Well I'll tell you what, it definitely wasn't a human that made that big ass arrow. No human is even big enough to use it."
Scarlet's eyelids narrowed, "But wait a minute... the only creature intelligent enough to use weapons like bow and arrow in a D-Grade dungeon that I can think of off the top of my head is an ogre. I wouldn't think ogres would be capable of actually engineering their own though. Especially not one of this good quality."
Kael added on: "On top of that," He picked the arrow up and inspected it in the air, "This arrow is too big for an ogre. Ogres are larger than orcs, but not nearly as strong. Ogres are twice as large as humans, so the bows they should be using would be 12 feet in length and the arrows would only be about 5 or 6 feet in height. There's no way it would ever be 8 feet in length."
Before anyone could say another word, loud footsteps quickly approached from the distance.
Sin was the first one to look up, 'That's coming from the same direction as the arrow.'
Everyone else also looked up to see a large ogre running toward them at full speed. It was wearing a large brown rag all across its body like a robe. The cloth was all tattered but it did its job.
Ogres weren't as muscular and intelligent as orcs, and not even as large and monstrously powerful as trolls. They were somewhere in between, a bad mix of both. Slightly fat and disgusting, fairly stupid, and overall only as strong as the most powerful hobgoblins out there.
This ogre in particular was 12 feet tall, and it ran like a slob.
Before anyone could even say a word, Sin put down the three bags he was lugging over his shoulder on the ground.
"Sin... what are you—" Ince couldn't even finish what she was saying when Sin abruptly ran towards the ogre.
"You're mine!" Sin said with an exhilarated smile on his face.
