'It worked? Thank god...' Sin felt a bit of relief. He didn't know whether the Spirit Golem would be able to detect his Healing Bug passively working, but thankfully the golems seemed to be very observant.
Two out of ten wasn't great, but certainly better than what Sin was aiming for--which was at least a one out of ten. He knew the other areas of the exam were where he was going to shine, so he was content with this score for now.
However, Dreli didn't seem to have the same impression.
"Pahaha!" He busted out into a laugh, "Lowest score of anyone yet! Fucking retard..." He scoffed, placing his hand on his face, in disbelief of how pathetic Sin was.
Sin shrugged this off, 'I can't do shit about that annoying guy right now, but I sure would like to punch his face in again...'
The crowd wasn't too amused either, it seemed:
"Two out of ten huh?"
"Who is that guy? Anyone important? Why does Dreli care so much about him..."
"He's lucky that Dreli and young master Magnus are on his team. And that fat lady was strong too."
"I'd love to have him as my opponent for the final test..."
But Sin didn't pay much mind to this either. He was just relieved that he actually got a score.
"Hmm..." Magnus turned and faced the Spirit Golem in front of him, "You are worse than shit right now." He said with a straight face.
Since he was facing forward, Sin thought that Magnus wasn't speaking to him for a second. But then he quickly realized that he was.
Sin's eyes narrowed, 'He's also talking shit... but oddly enough, it seems his words aren't coming from anger or hatred.' There was a different tone to Magnus' voice, which Sin couldn't exactly figure out.
Although the rest of the crowd reacted to Magnus' words the same way they did with Dreli's, snickering at Sin and laughing it off, it felt like Magnus' tone didn't harbor any of the ill will that Dreli's words had.
Instead, it just felt like he was telling the truth, without any emotion behind it. But this was just a feeling. Sin still didn't appreciate Magnus' words, but that was a given.
Magnus exhaled, crossing his hands. He stood with a wide foot stance and a serious gaze flickering in his pupils. Without any movement, a large iron sword summoned in front of him.
It was easily eight feet in length. It was a broadsword with an intricate pattern of dragons flowing through the middle. At its core was a red orb filled with an odd liquid that swished around as though it was blood, but also glistened like a thousand crystals.
The sword slashed across the air a dozen times in a row, spinning in various ways and almost dancing across the arena before arriving in front of the Spirit Golem and slashing straight through it.
It cut like a warm knife through butter. The Spirit Golem was split in two for a solid 10 seconds before morphing itself back to its original state.
"10/10. You have passed, Sir."
"That's lord to you," Magnus snarled, his sword disappearing from the air.
Everyone was amazed at Magnus' power. This was the first time that a Spirit Golem had actually been decently hurt during the entire Spirit Testing phase.
Everyone looked at Magnus as though they had expected this but were still amused. It was akin to seeing a well-known martial artist perform their techniques--expected, but still mesmerizing.
"Ten out of ten!?" Bao Huxin exclaimed, "My... that is indeed a perfect score! Of course, these lousy golems can't detect more than what is the average peak of most untrained individuals. But still... to get a 10 is an almost never-before-seen occurrence. Great job, young master Magnus."
'So even he called him young master huh?' Sin thought to himself, 'Just who is this guy? Getting ten out of ten that easily? It makes me want to fight him and test out how strong he really is...'
"Peak of untrained individuals?" Magnus exclaimed, "Of course, I would be superior to such a disgustingly low metric." He turned, walking back to the crowd.
The rest of his group followed suit as Bao proclaimed their group score:
"Team 'My Team Is The Most Superior, So If You Are In Another Team, You Are An Inferior Peasant Who Doesn't Even Deserve To Kiss My Feet... You Loathsome Peasant Weakling Scum!' overall Spirit grading: 6.82!"
"Highest score..." Some people in the crowd of examinees began to mutter.
"Even with that idiot who got a 2."
"It's expected... it's lord Magnus' team after all..."
Sin glanced up at the railings, only to see that Ince was missing.
'Huh... it seems she saw my bad score and decided to leave.' Sin joked inwardly. He obviously didn't know the reason behind Ince being here in the first place, 'Too bad she didn't stay long enough to see my physical score. Maybe she would have gotten a stronger impression of me...' It was only a thought. Then again, Sin didn't care enough to impress her anyways.
"Listen up!" Bao interrupted everyone's murmuring, "The opponent selection for the third test will happen right now."
This news came as a surprise for many folks. They glanced at each other with confused looks, already beginning to whisper:
"Really? That's weird."
"It's a bit random, no?"
"I guess it's another way to make the test harder since we can't fully grasp everyone's abilities yet..."
Bao continued: "There will be a box with five cards given to every group. Four cards will consist of 2 pairs of circles and squares. If you and another person get a square, they are your opponent. Same with circles. The final, fifth card, will have either a triangle, diamond, eye, star, or rectangle. If you get this card, you will be the one out of every group of five who has an opponent match in another team."
The process was pretty simple. You either matched with someone from your group or with someone from another group.
The boxes were distributed to the different groups promptly.
Everyone from Sin's group took their time, getting their cards and looking at them by themselves first.
Sin's card was a square, 'It's someone from my group then.' He immediately mused.
People from other teams began to react to their cards,
"Shit! I have someone from another group..."
"Oh? You and me? Let's have a good match then!"
"Tsk... of course, I got matched up with him..."
Sin spoke up in his team: "Let's all show our cards as well." After he said this, everyone communicated with glances--all agreeing to his proposal.
As Sin showed his card, so did everyone else.
Magnus' card was a circle. The fat lady's card was also a circle. Finally, Magnus' fangirl's card was... a square. She and Sin were a match, as were Magnus and the obese woman.
Dreli's card was a triangle. As soon as he saw this, Dreli crushed the card he had in his hand.
"Hmph!" He exclaimed, "No... I don't give a damn!" He turned, ripping the square card away from Magnus' fangirl's hand. He threw his crumpled-up triangle card on the floor.
"Pick that up, you bitch..." He turned to face Sin, "There isn't any chance in hell I won't be fighting you." He said furiously.
Sin furrowed his eyebrows as the girl went to pick up the triangle card on the ground. "Fine. Have it your way... just don't complain when I beat your ass."
