Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Cyberpunk, Traveling Frog

[Your frog cub is going on a trip!]

[Frog Cub will send back travel albums from time to time. Please check them carefully!]

[The return of the Frog Cub will bring back world-specific gifts and special commemorative items. Please remember to check them, Host!]

Lying on his cramped bed, David listened to the system prompt in his head and let out a long sigh of relief.

"Finally! It's going on a trip!"

Taking a deep breath, he rolled over and glanced around his dimly lit surroundings.

This was a tiny, 12-square-meter apartment—a glorified metal box in the depths of Night City. The high-tech gadgets in the room flickered with neon prompts:

[Please insert coins.]

There were no windows, only four cold steel walls enclosing him like a prison.

The only thing connecting this suffocating space to the outside world was a small ventilation shaft in the corner. Even in the dead of night, the muffled sounds of blaring music and rowdy laughter leaked in from the city beyond.

But inside this claustrophobic room, none of that mattered.

All David could feel was the overwhelming pressure of survival—an invisible weight crushing him.

David was just an ordinary otaku—a hardcore anime and gaming fan from the real world.

But one fateful night, while playing a game, he was suddenly dragged into another reality.

After gathering his bearings, he discovered something terrifying—

This was Night City.

The brutal, dystopian world of Cyberpunk 2077.

A lawless city where cyber-psychos roamed the streets, where gangs ruled with bloody violence, and where corporate overlords treated human lives like disposable trash.

Here, the rich lived like gods, while the poor were crushed like ants.

And worst of all?

David was just a powerless nobody.

Unlike the cyber-enhanced warriors prowling the city, he had zero implants, zero combat skills, and zero survival experience.

A regular, squishy human in a world where flesh was weaker than metal.

"Shit... I'm gonna get my head blown off, aren't I?"

That was his first thought upon realizing his situation.

The System Awakens

But just as despair set in, a voice rang in his head:

[Ding! System activation complete!]

When David checked, he was stunned.

His golden finger—his cheat system—wasn't a combat simulator, a hacking module, or anything remotely useful for survival.

Instead…

It was a game system from an old mobile app he used to play.

"Traveling Frog."

At first, he nearly screamed in frustration.

"Are you kidding me?!"

"I got isekai'd into Night City, and the best you can give me is a damn FROG?!"

But after closely inspecting the system, he found several hidden features that changed everything.

1. The Frog Travels to Different Anime/Game Worlds

Instead of hopping around a normal countryside, the frog now traveled to different dimensions.

2. The Frog Brings Back Special Items

Whatever souvenirs the frog brought back weren't just for show. They were real, usable objects from those worlds.

3. The More the Frog Travels, the More It Costs

Each trip required payment, and the cost increased with every journey.

Hope in Despair

David's mind raced with possibilities.

"Wait… If my frog goes to a cultivation world and brings back an immortal pill… I could literally become a god!"

"Or what if it visits a high-tech world? I could get futuristic weapons or cybernetic enhancements!"

For the first time, he felt hope.

Maybe he wouldn't have to rot away at the bottom of Night City after all.

The Cost of Survival

But there was one problem—

The first trip cost 2,000 eurodollars.

For an ordinary, powerless human like him, that was a fortune.

Over the next month, David struggled to gather the money.

He worked two jobs—bartending at night and doing odd gigs during the day.

Eventually, after stumbling into a gang shootout, he took a risk—looting a few cybernetic implants from dead bodies and selling them on the black market.

Finally, after weeks of grinding, he barely scraped together enough.

The Frog Departs

[Ding! The Frog Cub has set off on its journey.]

David collapsed onto his bed, exhausted yet relieved.

"Now… all I can do is wait."

As he drifted into a half-sleep, he whispered:

"Please, go somewhere useful, little buddy…"

"I need something that'll help me survive."

A Harsh Reality

Ding!

His phone vibrated.

Since he had no cyberware, he still used a cheap, outdated smartphone.

Half-asleep, he squinted at the screen.

[Arasaka Bank Notice: €2,000 has been deducted from your account at 00:00. Your remaining balance is €10.2. Please maintain a minimum deposit or risk account termination.]

David groaned.

"Even the banks in this world will abandon you if you're broke, huh?"

He scrolled down to check another message.

[Bartender at Afterlife: Greer]

[Kid, come to work early tomorrow. Big party. Need extra hands.]

David sighed and texted back.

[Got it.]

Tossing the phone aside, he stretched out on his bed.

"Which world will my frog visit first?"

"Hopefully, somewhere with advanced tech or powerful abilities."

Staring at the ceiling, he focused on the interface only he could see.

Despite the endless dangers of Night City, this was the first time in a month he felt a sliver of hope.

"Still, if the frog doesn't bring back anything useful…"

He lifted his hand, staring at his pale, flesh-and-blood fingers.

"Then I might have no choice but to get cyberware installed…"

Unlike the hardcore Edgerunners who craved cybernetics, David still preferred to stay human.

But in a city where raw flesh meant weakness, could he really afford that mindset?

He closed his eyes, murmuring:

"Little frog… my fate is in your hands."

Within moments, exhaustion overtook him, and he drifted into a restless sleep.

The Frog Returns!

The next morning—

[Ding! The Frog Cub has returned from its journey!]

[The Frog Cub has brought back special travel souvenirs! Please check them carefully!]

!!!

David's eyes snapped open.

Like a spring-loaded mechanism, he shot up from his bed.

"ALREADY?! It came back in one night?!"

With shaky hands, he opened the system interface—
