Kael's gem was pulsing faster than his own heartbeat.
It was scared.
Magnus Vaelor. This was one of the men behind everything. All that was wrong in the world.
He was the one in charge of the Officials, the people who had fought against Kael every step of the way.
Unlike the gem, Kael didn't feel fear. He only felt anger toward this man. For all the pain that he'd caused Kael and his friends.
Kael wasn't exactly in the position to do anything about it, but he knew he would make Magnus pay for what he'd done.
But first, he'd have to survive this interrogation.
"Unstrap him," Magnus said, and the guard looked at each other in confusion.
"I don't think that wise," said Warden Dreznik, speaking for the first time since Kael's arrival.
Magnus raised a hand to silence the Warden, and Dreznik drew his lips into a thin line.
The guards wordlessly followed Magnus' orders, likely fearing his retaliation if they disobeyed.
