Elysia and the others walked along the railway tracks, looking for any signs of the transport.
It had been a few hours now and still…nothing.
The last she'd seen of Kael, he'd been climbing onto the side of one of the carts as it had sped off into the distance.
Their surprise attack had mostly failed. The blockade on the tracks had been cleared far too quickly.
Elysia's mind still ran at a thousand meters a second.
Had he been able to stop it?
Had he killed all of the Officials?
Had he even survived?
With Kael, Elysia could never be sure. Just when it seemed like he was gone, everything was flipped on its head. The tides were turned.
She wouldn't give up hope on him yet.
Ronin sighed. "If he hasn't put a stop to the transport by now, it's likely to have arrived at the Capitol. And if that's the case, we're all out of luck."
